Sablebrush speedpaint

Just fooling with new brushes and trying out different styles. I feel like I can pinpoint my artistic shortcomings better when I step way out of my usual style so it's a valuable exercise even if the outcome is not always really fabulous.

One of my patrons requested some Seto Kaiba doodles. What came out was.... not Seto Kaiba. Sorry, girl, I was thirsty for some golden-hair Egyptian biker babe. Not my favorite character but indisputably the most pretty. Don't you even fight me on this. I will cut you.

Finished version of the 'munk I'd been working on earlier. I rather like the ballpoint coming through to the surface as a sketchy quality but on my next attempt I'll have to make sure that sketch is more visually appealing before I begin painting.

Gonna start fanart friday a little early because uuuhhh I have several fanarts *cough* and also it's my birthday tomorrow so I might not be around much. 

This was about an hour of goofing around in photoshop after I was tired of doing ear studies. :P 

The Change

For those of you in my WIP tier you saw the first pass of this painting and here's the last! I wanted something that played with finished and unfinished, sharp definition and vague shapes, high and low contrast. I'm still teaching myself how to paint anything but slick photo-realism and ultimately I really like this. I still need to work harder at creating a cohesive whole but I nevertheless feel like I'm getting closer. 

4 cloud practice studies

Trying to unravel the mystery of clouds :P  I mostly used my new ink brushes but also a few cloud ones, which I will be releasing tomorrow for my resource day. All of these are loosely referenced from photos found on google.

I watched The Chipmunk Adventure soooo many times as a kid XD
