Thanks for the support, and here's an update!

Hey, gang! Sorry I've been silent for a bit. I was on vacation for a bit, and I'm also working on A LOT of new projects that are all going to come out this month.

Firstly, my new series where I hangout with my YouTuber friends as we watch old media had its first episode last month with my buddy Tulok the Barbrarian! We watched some old D&D stuff and it was a blast! If you haven't seen it, check it out here.  View Post

THANK YOU! + A New Video Series!

Thanks for another month of support! Here's what's going on this month for me and NerdSync. If you haven't been charged yet or your payment was declined, please take a few minutes to check to make sure that everything is working on your end. Here's a Patreon help article about declined payments if you're not sure why it happened and want to fix it.

Firstly, I am going on a...

[EARLY ACCESS] We need to talk about Velma…

HBO announced a new adult animated Scooby-Doo show and we need to talk about it.

This is a super quick reaction/commentary style video I threw together with the help of an outside editor. His name is Cade and he edited the whole video for me while I’m traveling. You can find his channel here: https://youtube.com/channel/UCsJAmQR0KH_sQ4PLMeDZYVQ

Let me know if there are any glari...

[UPDATE] Next video's topic

Thanks to everyone who watched my new video about thought balloons! I know it was a bit niche, but I appreciate the kind words!

The next video is coming out this week because I accidentally sold an ad spot on it even though I'm planning on traveling this weekend. I don't have time for intense editing, so this next video will be a simple but hopefully fun reaction/commentary video about a couple of pieces of recent Scooby-Doo news.

Specifically, the fan reaction to the new Velma sh...

[EARLY ACCESS] The cruel death of thought balloons in modern comics

Sorry it's been a while, but I hope you like this video!

Comic books used to use thought balloons to depict the innermost feelings of characters, but modern comics seem to avoid them in favor of internal monolog caption boxes. Why is this? And can modern letterers save thought balloons from a slow, cruel death?

Weekly Update: Nearly there!

Hey gang! Once again I'm just keeping everyone updated on my video progress.

The new video has been approved by the sponsor, and all I need to do is finish some animations, add music and sound effects, then press that export button!

Thanks for being patient. I appreciate it!

✨ Weekly NerdSync Update

Hey gang! Another week, another update. I'm trying to get more consistent with the updates, even if they aren't lengthy. Just want to keep you all in the loop as Patreon supporters!

I'm still cracking away at the new video. It's got 3-4 different camera angles, an interview, some motion graphics I'm experimenting with, and just a lot of footage that I've filmed to try and keep it interesting. My hope is to have it finished this week, but I'll let you know.

I think my plan going fo...

APRIL UPDATE!

Hey gang! Just wanted to say thanks for supporting me here for another month on Patreon. I know I haven’t posted in about a month, so here’s what’s going on.

Firstly, for those of you who missed it, my camera died on me. That was a big bummer that put a stop on my video production. But thankfully, so many of you came together to help me buy a replacement! Took a bit to come in and get it all setup, but I have recorded my new video with that camera. Thank you so much to everyone wh...

My camera died

Hey, gang. I was planning on making a big update here in a few days about a brand new filming rig I am in the process of building, but just an hour ago my camera that I’ve been using for 6 years has suddenly died on me. It won’t turn on anymore regardless of how I power it. And to get the camera repaired will cost about as much as buying a new camera, so I’m stuck.

It especially sucks because as I mentioned, I am in the process of building out a mobile filming rig that I teased at...

[EARLY ACCESS] Amazon's greed has just ruined comic books for no reason

NOTE! I am aware there's an audio glitch around 5:53 and I have fixed that for the final version. Hope you like it!

Amazon's digital comic book app, ComiXology, just received an update that made everything bad now. From comic book readers to comics creators,  the landscape of digital comics is worse for everyone except Jeff Bezos' wallet. Let me rant a little as I explain the history of ComiXology.

[EARLY ACCESS] The Tragic REAL Origin of Lois Lane

Late for Valentine's Day, but still got it in February haha! Enjoy the ad-free version of the video a day early! It's still processing on Patreon, so it might be full resolution if you watch it as soon as I make this post, but still viewable. Hope you like it!

Superman and Lois Lane are the quintessential comic book couple. BUT what if I told you that the secret REAL origin of Lois Lane is filled not with love, but with tragedy and heartbreak? Learn the history of how the Man of Ste...

What will NerdSync be in 2022?

Well, that was one hell of a year, huh? Definitely not how I thought it was going to go, especially the last 3-4 months. But I’m still here, still making videos, and still looking forward to new things 2022 has in store for NerdSync. Hopefully good things only!

Today, however, I want to reflect on everything that has happened with NerdSync in 2021. Things I think I did right, things I think I did wrong, and everything I’ve learned along the way.

Things I’m proud of

[EARLY ACCESS] That time a Spider-Man comic accidentally invented something real

Final video of the year, so I figured you Patrons should get to see the one with exclusive bonus content, ad-free, and early! (This is the same version I put up on Nebula, so that's why I mention Nebula at the end.)

Thank you so much for supporting me this year! Whether you are new or someone who has continued on from a previous year, I can't tell you how much your support means to me and how much it helps me! I'll have a lengthier update about what 2022 will hold later this month, but ...

[NEW VIDEO] Why Spider-Man used to suck...

Hey so there’s a weird pink flashing in this video that happens occasionally. It is not intentional and might either be an export error or YouTube processing error. I’m talking with some people at YouTube to try and resolve it as it might be an issue for photosensitive people. My apologies for this glitch.

In his first few comics, Peter Parker was an angry nerd who became a selfless hero! But then, things started to shift towards Spidey embracing Ayn Rand's philosophy of objecti...

Update about your names in videos

Hey gang, I just wanted to post an update about your names appearing at the end of my videos.

Since NerdSync is now partnered with Standard and Nebula, they are providing me with all future brand deals and sponsors for my new videos. Part of their practice is that all ad reads go at the very end of the video. That's typically where I read Patreon names, and I don't think having back-to-back sponsor to patreon plug...

I found the worst comic book...

I had to make a video before the month ended and this is what I came up with. Dissecting a bad comic book, but mostly talking about the history of Jack Kirby and Don Rickles. Is this anything?

Thanks for the support! I promise to do better haha

The Eternals comics are also bad...

To be completely honest, this whole video about Marvel's The Eternals comics is a thinly veiled excuse to plug my new podcast with Tristan from Step Back called It's Probably (not) Aliens! But along the way, we also discuss the history of these characters and how Jack Kirby got the inspiration from the incredibly popular book Chariots of the Gods, a book that has only done harm in this world because it paved the way for History Channel's Ancient Aliens series. Oops!

[NEW VIDEO] Scooby-Doo is objectively scary AND I CAN PROVE IT!!

Is it too much to reuse the "and I can prove it" title idea again? Idk. Either way, here's a new video!

Today, I use an objective scientific formula to answer the one question we’re all wondering… what is the scariest episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? From horrifying monsters, spooky locations, and startling jump scares, there’s one episode that stands out as truly scary! It’s not just a children’s cartoon. I mean, it is, but Scooby-Doo is actually terrifying and I can...
