[NEW VIDEO] My Quest to FINALLY Learn Dungeons & Dragons (and why you should too!)

In case you missed it yesterday, here's my new video all about D&D! As always, YouTube doesn't like to promote this stuff in the algorithm because it's out of my channel's typical subject matter, so any and all shares are appreciated! Thanks for the support!

And in case you missed it, you can get this amazing and Patreon-exclusive Wonderful Nerd pin by supporting me at the $10 tier or higher between now and August 25th (my birthday)!

[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] Jordan, my DM, teaches me about being a Dungeon Master

In case you didn't know, I am on a D&D podcast called Late to the Party. You can find it wherever podcasts are found. Jordan is the DM on that show, and so I interviewed her a bit for the D&D video as well! Hope you like it!

Once again, this will be available to everyone at the end of the week, but is available for Patrons only to start! Enjoy!

[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] Brennan Lee Mulligan from Dimension 20 teaches me about being a Dungeon Master

So you can for sure tell how nervous I was for this interview, but Brennan was genuinely so nice and enthusiastic and insightful! There's so much from this interview that I couldn't put into my video, but he's such a rad guy that I want everyone to be able to hear the full thing!

This will become available to listen to for free by the end of the week, but it's up for Patrons early!

There's some spoilers stuff in here, but they look rad and I'm trying to bring the hype!

[NEW VIDEO] One X-Cellent Scene - In The Real World, People Die

SURPRISE VIDEO! Nando v Movies put together this awesome idea for a mega collaboration with a bunch of great video essay channels to talk about the X-Men films So, I picked apart my favorite scene fro LOGAN, a very short, very unexciting dialogue exchange that serves as a meta critique of the entire X-Men movie franchise! I hope you like it!

Still working on the D&D video! Everything is all shot. I just need to edit it together!

Screenshots from my D&D video!

I’m still in the process of filming it, so Patreon will get first dibs on more fun stuff from later in the video. But for the most part, the video is just me telling a story at a table. Nothing fancy. Because that’s what D&D is!

[NEW VIDEO] What is Hamilton (the musical) trying to say?

I forgot to post this yesterday, but here's a new video. More coming this month!

[SCRIPT] What is Hamilton (the musical) trying to say?

I'm going to pump the brakes on the D&D video temporarily just to try and get this video up within the next few days. Here's my analysis for what I think the major singular theme of Hamilton is. I you want to take a look at it to make sure it's good and not too "middle school English class" then that would be appreciated!

Script is here.

Review and leave notes on my D&D video script!

Since a few of you have expressed interest on checking out my new D&D script, I figured I'd just make a post about it here! So here's the link.

Feel free to leave notes on the google doc for anything that you think is uninteresting or needs to be changed. Or if something is very good!

Here are my concerns:

  • Firstly, it's long. It's...

Thanks for supporting me last month and this month!

Just your monthly thank you for supporting NerdSync on Patreon! More updates coming, I promise! There's always a lot more fun stuff to share once I actually film and start editing. The D&D video script is nearly done! Just need to see how much I can cut out because it is once again very long and I don't know why. I am incapable of writing a short video these days, apparently. Anyway, thanks!

If you want to read through the draft of the D&D video I have currently, I could potenti...

Boring tax changes, but you should probably know about them.

Hey, everyone! I'm just gonna leave a sample post from Patreon down here so you know what's up. But basically, some new tax laws will go into effect starting next month, so you should probably have a heads up on how they affect you and your financial support of my videos.

Due to new laws passing in several countries and US states, Patreon will be required to start charging sales tax on some pledges starting July 1st.

Updates about missing rewards

A couple rewards haven't been being fulfilled by me, and I want to apologize for that and also offer explanations that might get a bit technical as to why. But if you are waiting on a personalized thank you video, audio updates, or merch discount codes, I want to explain why those haven't been coming out.

Thank You Videos

The reason why the thank you videos haven't been going out is two-fold. Firstly, I'm really bad at remembering to do them. That's fully on me. I have a reminde...

[NEW VIDEO] Scooby-Doo: A Franchise at War with Itself

IT'S FINALLY HERE! Thanks so much for being patient, and thank you to all the new patrons here from the video! You're all great and wonderful! I hope you like this thing that I put too much effort into.

Today Scott dives into the entire Scooby-Doo franchise to explain the adventures of Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and Fred to analyze their many reboots, spin-offs, and movie versions throughout the decades. What makes Mystery Incorporated's hunt for monsters so fantastic?

Movie commentary tracks as Patreon rewards?

Would you want to listen to me do a commentary track over some movies I enjoy as a Patreon bonus reward thing? I'm thinking it would be fun to do one over Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed because that is a movie I enjoy both ironically and unironically. I don't understand it, but that's where I'm at.

Anyway, we can do more in the future if people like them. But I was thinking that would be a fun extra thing that could help give you some bizarre content that could pass the time. Let me k...

Update on the Scooby-Doo video, and other stuff!

Hey there, everyone! Here are a few screenshots from my upcoming Scoob video that you can look over! I'm working hard on it. It's another very long video. Probably 40 minutes or so. But I'm proud of it, and I hope you nerds like it! I'm struggling to find the time to work on it, but I'm chipping away at it.

I'm still editing for the Super Carlin Brothers, and that takes a lot of my time each week. And I'm also on a new podcast called Late to the Party, which is a D&D actual-play pod...

Me singing a Scooby-Doo medley like a pro for my upcoming video!

This is gonna be the end credits song in my upcoming video essay analyzing the entire franchise of Scooby-Doo. The arrangement, interments, backing vocals, and mastering was done by my good friends RKVC. All I did was sing. There are 5 Scooby-Doo theme songs in here. Can you name them all?

(Expect a bigger update about the video soon, along with some screen shots from filming!)

NerdSync March Update: Full 2020 Video Lineup!

I know I'm supposed to do audio updates, but all the microphones in the office keep being shuffled around to different rooms and it's hard to keep track, so here's a text update instead! It's like audio, but you have to use your eyes!

So, looking at the poll I posted in January, it looks like you all wanted to see me talk about Bob Ross. Rad! I'm excited! But I need to change things up a bit for now, so sorry for the added confusion.

Basically, my original plan was to do the Scoob...

Help me decide the first video of 2020

So, I was initially going to make a Scoob video as my first one of this year, but I decided to wait until it's closer to the new movie. So I've been tossing around a few ideas for my first video of this year, and you can tell me which one you're most excited about.

• Why I don't care for lore that much in movies, comics, shows, etc.

• Why you shouldn't read Harry Potter (which is really just a video about how conversations about media can be more fruitful and productive if you...

What's happening with NerdSync in 2020?

Hello, you wonderful nerds! I've been busy with the holidays and traveling for a friend's wedding, but I'm finally back at the office to give you an update about what will be in store for NerdSync this year!

If you follow me on twitter, you may have already seen that I'm not going to be posting too many videos this year. Even fewer than the few I managed to get out last year. The reason for this is not a lack of ideas or interest, but rather a tough situation I was put in recently.

[DRAFT] An apolitical video about Captain America punching Nazis

Okay, so here's a rough draft of the video. A lot of visuals from the second half are missing, and there's barely any music yet. But here it is. Let me know if there is a section that is too boring or unfunny. There's probably not much I can do now, but at least you can see what I've been working on. Also, the title is pending. Let me know if you have any catchy suggestions!
