WIP update: Almost!

First, bad news, I managed to catch covid. Worse news is I'm missing Christmas with the family because of it too! The good news though is I'm almost done with this stretch of the animation and am about ready to do another scene release! I want to eventually swap to the second character but I'm now debating with myself if I make that a separate scene just to make it easier on myself. WIP update: Catching up!

Animation Tutorial Part 1

Bonus scene!

Holidays are here so I have family over and as a result it's been, uh, "difficult" to get any animation done to say the least. After Thanksgiving I should be back on the usual grind.

WIP update: Getting into it a bit too much!

I got lost in the sauce and just kept animating. The client initially just paid for a 15s animation and it's already at 16s and I haven't done the climax yet! I added in a bit extra because I was just having fun with it and felt it would make the overall scene better!

WIP update: Bounce Bounce

Pushed the animation a little further. I like the little thing I did with the hips I'm pretty happy with it cause it feels playful. I had forgotten the client only commissioned a short anim so I'll have to make a few adjustments so it goes smoothly into the end but otherwise I'm fairly happy with the work done so far.

Character Release: SeanVR

I got commissioned by SeanVR to make their Vtuber model in koi and with their permission they said I could release the model! I learned a lot making it, including how to make some bits glow. WIP: Reverse cowgirl!

Onto the next commission finally. Still fixing the hole in my house but it's workable right now.

You mostly just missed the setup-phase as now I have a little bit of animation on the table! The character is the clients OC, Mallow if you're wondering.

Dead day: My floor collapsed

Originally I planned on posting a WIP of the next comm today but about 2 days ago my floor collapsed and I've been spending the last few days repairing it. At first I thought it was just some minor damage but the more I worked on it the more I realized there was more damage than first thought. I should be finished with the repairs by tomorrow though.

WIP: Looking done! but not quite

You may be thinking to yourself "this looks mighty finished, why is this a WIP update and not a release"

That is because after some testing, it's pretty much impossible to swap out the characters for other ones without them breaking the animation. So I'm going to spend tomorrow/later today (timezones) working on making variations of the scenes for easy swapping but unlike my other ones I'll need to do a lot of adjusting. Alright this took me a minute to do all the setup work for.

I ended up throwing together a custom environment since I couldn't find anything halloween themed and I threw together a shorter male model since all of the ones I typically use are actually quite tall lol. I figured I'd also give him actual eyes too.

I wanted to post a WIP last night but I felt like I could finish it up by today so I delayed it a night!

WIP update!: A little bit of motion!

And a bigger chest! the client reached back out and asked to "expand the assets" and so I complied.

Most of the animation is my usual affair. What you're seeing is a bit of facial expression and a base layer of animation. I still need to do a second pass to complicate the movement a bit. Getting her booty to jiggle a bit was a task! I actually want to say I'm about halfway done. Like I said this anim is actually pretty short so it should be finished within the week!

Some might have noticed I ended up reopening my commissions again so I'm back to working on some of those in the mean time. WIP update: A little more + Bonus scene

I managed to get myself pretty sick this week. Was out with a somewhat serious cold and couldn't focus on doing stuff that required higher brain function like animating since I was basically high on cold medicine the entire time. As a result I through together a nice simple scene while I was recovering but when I wasn't down bad I was able to squeeze in some more animation so I'm a bit further there as well.

Alright she's back in the scene doing some little background things. Mostly just recording on the phone.

WIP update: More more!

Pushed the animation further and I figured out what I wanted to do with our extra girl. However her animation hasn't "caught up" yet so she's still invisible for this preview. She'll be back by the next WIP update as catching her up will be my main focus.

Hard to tell cause of the low quality of the preview render but yes, she does get heart eyes once she really gets into it. I went and did a second pass on the expressions tweaking a few things.

WIP update: Finally some action!

There's actually a LOT more animation done than what I have rendered but I wasn't happy with it. Mostly just our favorite background gal. Originally I wanted her walking into frame but I just couldn't make the walk cycle look natural which means it's for sure something I'm going to need to work on in future practice sessions so for now I have her toggled off while I try to figure out what I want to do with her in case you're wondering where she went lol.

WIP update: back on it!

Alright, burnout over and my mini vacation is done! back on the grind. Went ahead and finished reworking that section again. I like the way it is now acting-wise so I'm going to go with this and clean it up some more!

While I think the beats themselves are good I need to work on smoothing it out a lot. Notably the part where she gets up off the desk is a bit rough.

So hopefully this is the last time you'll see these 20 seconds reworked lol.

WIP update: Extending the HJ out

Alright, I figured literally 5 seconds of hand action might have been a bit too little so I extended it out a little longer and honestly, I might even add some more but if I do I'll add it in later once I get a feel for the entire scene.

I am happy that I extended it out a bit more though. I was falling into my usual trap of making stuff happen way to fast.

WIP update: as usual "fluid simulation" is hard

Especially when you can't simulate fluids and have to manually animate every strand by hand! I still feel like I need to do some more with it too.
