Two more chapters, changing things up a bit. I've said this elsewhere, but though I try to keep the series focused, with such a long story I think it's good to include a wide variety. I'm glad that there's an audience who has been enjoying it.
FYI, I will be taking a trip next week. I have scheduled your chapters to go up next Saturday as normal, so just be aware I won't be around to reply to comments or messages. If for some reason it fails to post, don't worry, I'll return later to fi...

Some straight relationship content this week, like we haven't seen since Chasmfall. As I've always said, this story will not focus on romance, but given that it will cover many years of the characters' lives, I felt like it would be unrealistic not to include any. And to respond to comment I've seen in various place: yes, Theo will get some romance eventually, he's just a grumpy old man.

I think readers will be glad to know that I've finished some minor edits to this book based on feedback. No guarantee there won't be more, but it feels better to be on top of things. Nothing huge, just tweaks I hope will make the final book read better for more readers.

Chapter 34
Finally, the draining stopped. Theo's body was so overwhelmed with relief that he nearly collapsed. The pain hadn't been much compared to the Archive of Misery, but physically it...

Above the post, this is perhaps the final cover for Wakespire? If this goes well, you should be seeing brand new covers for all the books, though they'll take time.
Meanwhile, more Wakespire! Challenges! Revelations! There's a lot going on in this book and I hope people enjoy the balance.

Chapter 32
Though her companions' performance had been admirable, Fiyu was concerned about the enemy. At every point so far, they had been keeping pace. She had ant...

Chapter 30
As the teams gathered in front of the entrance portals, Theo found himself actually analyzing all the competitors. Even though the Wakespire wasn't truly important in the grand scheme of things, he was going to have fun. And it would earn them some valuable sublime materials, so he didn't even feel guilty.

Hey, before the chapters, I have an unusual issue for everyone. It would be premature to announce anything, but it is possible that I might have an opportunity to put out deluxe hardcover editions for The Weirkey Chronicles (or at least one). Your input on the following questions would be much appreciated:
- 1) Are you interested in deluxe editions? These would be leather bound, illustrated, and expensive.
- 2) What do you think of the idea of combining the first three books ...

Hey, everyone! Additional post to announce that the Street Cultivation audiobook will be 40% off for about a month. My publisher set up a special page and everything:

Is this extraordinary? Probably not very, but it is a nonstandard offer and I get f...

There's a lot going on behind the scenes these days, enough that I don't want to overload these notes. For this week, check out the new version of the Wakespire cover! You can expect to see more of these.
Anyway, in the chapters this week, Theo gets some answers. Perhaps not the ones anyone was expecting.

When Theo finally returned to Ugustial, he had been looking forward to a hug from Nauda, a smile from Fiyu, and a lot of sleep. Instead,...

Chapter 24
How long had he lain there, on the floor of his old office? Not as long as he sat in his chair and realized that it was over. All of his hopes were destroyed. Even if he could somehow get back, his soulhome would have been destroyed in the transition. He hadn't even felt it crumble.
When the dread of decades on Earth became too much...

You'll hear more about the art later, but for now, we are back to focusing on chapters. Wakespire is the longest book in the series so far, so you have quite a bit of content to look forward to. ^-^
When writing these chapters, I didn't realize this week would be such a cliffhanger. Didn't intend it, honestly. You can probably guess where things are going, but I think this form will keep the book moving forward.

Hello, everyone! I have chapters for you, same as always, but first I hope to get everyone's attention on the images above and a very serious decision about the series going forward.
The covers for The Weirkey Chronicles have an uneven history. Not only different ideas, but various artists going AWOL. It's been frustrating, but I'm not here to talk about that. Instead, I'm here to show you the work of RobotCat, a TWC reader who has been bringing a lot of passion to my work.

Theo, Nauda, and Fiyu were gathered around a small campfire in the middle of the forest. They had been traveling together for days, and tensions were starting to rise.

Chapter 16
Even though it felt wasteful, Theo made himself get a full night of sleep and spend some time relaxing so that he would be at his best. To his surprise, he found it a little unsatisfying. He would have liked to spend time with his friends, but he couldn't justify distracting them when they had so much work of their own to be doing. Senka would have been a nice dist...

Chapter 14
For a couple days after the incident, Theo focused on polishing work, never pushing himself to exhaustion just in case they would be attacked. Eventually he accepted that the matter wouldn't turn into a larger problem. Compared to worlds like Deuxan, Noven did a better job of avoiding feuds by escalating everything to higher authorities, who were generally invested in the status quo.
At least, the cultu...

While going about my business, I noticed that Street Cultivation has passed 1000 ratings on Amazon! That makes five of my books that have reached that point, after having none not so many years ago.

In addition to the new chapters, I made a continuity edit to the previous set. It's the mask issue, for those who reported it. Normally I focus on editing my manuscript and don't worry much about minor issues in Patreon chapters, but since it was reported multiple times and it seems like lots of new readers will be reading the Patreon chapters, I fixed this up. No need to reread, unless you really want to see that ...

I said that TWC7 would start in February, and I'll stick to that promise, but there's one final issue we need to deal with yet: the title.
I was fond of "Wakerite" myself, because there's a bit of somberness to it. My primary concern was that people would read it as a mineral, waker-ite. But someone has pointed out that it could also sound like a sleep medication, and I'm afraid they're right. =/ That wasn't on my mental radar at all, but that's probably how it will read to many people....

I've been wanting to make this poll for quite some time, there have just always been chapters or other content to post first. Now it gets its own post, so I hope everyone can spare a minute to give some feedback. This is your chance to influence something major going forward with TWC.

This is a preview because I feel bad not giving patrons chapters for a while, but it's not the official start. Why just a preview? Well, the title for one: I like the current name of the main event, but it risks being read wrong, so it could still change. I want to have this book fully edited before I adopt a steady schedule so we don't have as much of a mess as the sixth.
So it's up to you. If you want to wait, you can wait. If you want to read these, they'll give you many hints about ...

There's some conventional authorial wisdom on this subject, but I thought I should ask patrons directly. To be clear, the answers will have no impact on the release of TWC7 chapters, but they could alter the release date of finished books.
Now, I assume that people here are more enthusiastic than the average reader for TWC. But thinking about books in general, series you only somewhat follow, are you less likely to notice or purchase releases around the holidays? In my experience the in...
