Late upload... but here's my rendition of Blessed Assurance. In these hymn arrangements I'm looking for ways to play the original melody in the original key, while having the harmonies be transposed to a different key/progression, hopefully you can spot that :)
PDF & MIDI will remain attached to the post until July 1st. Enjoy! [After July 1st: Gondola Music Shop]

Hello dear patrons! Today's transcription does not have video unfortunately, as the music couldn't be uploaded to YouTube since it's copyrighted. This is my first time transcribing Keith Jarrett. We all know him for his well-deserved status as one of the jazz piano patriarchs. I've attached the PDF and MIDI below, as well as the audio from Keith's original performance. Enjoy!

Hey guys!
This summer, I'll be creating new kinds of content on YouTube, namely: jazz exercises/tutorials, and covers. To make time for this, I'll be trimming back my transcription work by half, so you may see one new transcription per month.
These exercises and other sheets will be part of your patron reward, and I'll be including them in the monthly Dropbox sendout.
I can't say thank you enough to all of you for supporting my YouTube work. It's thanks to you that I'm able to consistently transcribe and publish these scores.
Cheers ✨
Timothy

Greetings!
I've starting arranging some hymns, so this is the first of several more to come. For this, I've created two scores: a note-for-note, near-exact transcription, as well as a simplified one that outlines the chords and melodies I played.
Those + signs I used to designate "melodically implied ghost notes:" notes that aren't meant to fully resound like the others, but be just barely played. Likewise if you see the x sign it means percussively implied ghost note, where the pianist was approaching that note more of a hit than part of the melody.

This is my second Fred Hersch transcription (first was Both Sides Now), with more to come. Another brilliant tune from Fred Hersch, composed by Billy Strayhorn, and played in his album Passion Flower.
Fred Hersch's musicality might seem familiar or common at first glance, but as I transcribe his music, I keep discovering how incredibly complex his rhythm and flow is. He often displaces strongbeats, inflates melodic contours, and maximizes reharmonization. As I transcribed, the downbeat sometimes got lost in this advanced rhythmic game Fred plays. These features are more pronounced in some of his other works which I will be publishing later. Stay tuned for more!

Did you enjoy 2019? Last year was a blast for me, chock-full of music, travel, and adventure.
Up until now, transcribing, arranging, music... has been kind of a side gig for me. 2020 will be different. I'd like to make my music work the focus of 2020. This means my Patreon and YouTube will effloresce into new directions.
Specifically, I'm looking to pan out my YouTube output from only transcriptions to:
- piano covers
- theory & various breakdowns
- transcription tutorials
So- stay tuned for an exciting year full of brand new content on YouTube and Patreon!
