Kawakami Gensai

For the smartphone app game "Bakumatsu Engi" 「幕末演義」

I remember being so hype being given this character. I love "Rurou ni Kenshin", and Himura, the main character, is based off of Kawakami. During the Bakumatsu era, he was one of the 4 hitokiri, "manslayers".

Looking back, I wish I had made his head smaller haha. Live and learn I guess.

Done in 2016.

Bakumatsu Halloween

This was for a halloween event back in 2015 for Bakumatsu Engi. お梅 (Oume)

Though I would usually would paint in grayscale for this game(everything but the skin and hair), this one was done straight in colour. As usual, I would paint under the sketch, then proceed to create a layer above the sketch and paint over. Eventually collapsing all the layers into one. Also with the final, the evolution of the character after leveling up.

Pausing Patreon

Ive paused my Patreon for this month so there will be no billing period during the first of November.

For the last few months, burnout has been frequent and Im in much need of a break. A "responsibility" break I suppose. I will still be drawing and posting through this month.

Trying out a different approach. My current job is in anime so there is hardly ever any rendering like my last job. Now its mostly line and even defined lines for the shadows. Will be playing with this more.

For these, I always did the clothing in grayscale and everything else in colour. Ive moved away from this way of doing things for quite some time but every once in a while I come back to it.

Fold studies

Figured Id brush up on folds. Tried to go for using less construction this time around on the bottom ones. While drawing these, I try to think about why a fold looks the way it does, which helps when drawing folds from memory.
