I inked/shaded one of my abandoned sketches. Also was kinda trying to ditch my faux halftone on the skin/shadows since I hate the moire effect.

I can't remember if I previewed a previous gif here before, but if I did then that had the correct timings for the frames while accomodating and lengthening for the absent inbetweens. That unfortunately looked pretty weird with their absence, so this has adjusted timing by myself to make good with the keyframes that ...

Frame 13

Inbetweens may be too difficult. Final frame and shot should be posted together first week of new year. Investigating painting the background and foreground elements of the other shot. Have an additional art in the chamber.

Apologies for the lack of everything. I've been enjoying playing games for the first long stretch in forever and watching Deep Space Nine. Imagine my whiplash between the baller Trials and Tribble-ations and the fucking Risa episode afterwards.

Frame 12 AB

The flushing continues. Combined and in motion they do actually look good, like a bottom-up flush. Two more keyframes and the shot will be complete. I don't think reverse engineering the inbetweens, including the half-keyframed in-between, will be possible or desirable. The other shot (the toothpick one), or some Konosuba keyframes I have, or whatever else I can find, may be next.

Frame 11 ABC

In drawing up this keyframe I double checked the source for frame timing and spotted the flushing which is an easy bit of inbetweening so why not. Same will apply to the next frame. The second to last keyframe is only partial and is halfway an inbetween so how I'll tackle it is tricky. Also finding a simple browser based video editor timeline solution to all this is tough. Eyeing up the difficulties of the other shots, checking out some Konosuba/Darkness keyframes, etc.

Bad week actually. Personal reasons and not just *gestures*. Witnessing another Twitter artist exodus so hopefully Bluesky picks up for consumers too.

Frame 11 is a good one tho. There should just be 4 frames left, there is a half storyboarded keyframe that seems to be an inbetween, in addition to the actual inbetweens, and I don't know if I'll ever fuck with those but we'll see. There is the shot before this one too with the uncensored toothpick/straw gag.

A very long term family/legal thing has supposedly finally resolved, stress might not be over and there's a string of birthdays that turns the whole thing into a gauntlet, but I'll try to keep doing something.

Nearly forgot. Sorry I'm not doing lady bodies or anything cool. Mechs should have me moving on to silhouettes instead. Generally either distracted or doing wordy work.

I actually had nothing since I'm still writing in Google Docs and happened to accidentally do some design work on this yesterday so I guess this is the thing. This work isn't specifically mecha, but the thing kinda materialised. It's a start, and making it seem more SWAT-ish without being too Gundam/Zaku or Patlabor especially.

Making shit up is hard man. At least I have a fat brush I can carve details out of.

Fuck me, two weeks already. I have nothing new to add, I've been on the writing side, I'm enjoying some media consuming time, I've also been volunteered for a small very minor very brief editor role for the story of an early access Steam game. Kinda pleased and enjoying Famicom Detective Club.

Nagatoro manga render + wips cont.

As soon as I looked at that finished painted wip I needed to make more changes and just made a little turnaround and had a lot of inbetween phases with what you see above. Just trying to feel good about it, even if it seems subtle. The brief for myself is an 80s/90s OVA tomboyish former delinquent turned cop character in a subtle sci-fi setting. It'll be fun eventually.

Nagatoro ended, and there's still an epilogue to come. I know a lot were here for her, and I didn't think about it but...

I had nothing and rather than make a post about writing I guilted myself into making this last night. I'm probably going to keep trying because I can't seem to get the face/eyes/anything quite right.

There was a colour scheme in my head, and I'm trying to translate it to reality and this is sorta alright. Picking colours is hard and dangerous because all screens are different so any colour choices I pretty much have to transfer from a Windows laptop to an iOS screen to check if it's oka...

If you read manga you might be aware of the dot matrix style of shading, usually called screentone or halftone, used because it's a monochrome (therefore cheaper) method of printing. This would be physically done with literal sheets of decal stickers that would be cut and stuck onto the original lineaart.

WiP evolution

I made a nice softer brush I can sculpt with. The intent of this character is for a very 80s/90s OVA setting without leaning on a stereotypical style too much, and I really want that mullet floof. I'll see how we go.

I've found that my "style" (of which I'm not particularly conscious of) is much cuter than I intend, and so with her I'm looking at Ghost in the Shell '95's Motoko to get some of that more cool and stern look, while still retaining "me"....

Sick, small post

Immediately after last post I got sick and while way better now I'm alternating between comfortable and less. Practice was done, mainly in the sketching department with material I can't or am unwilling to share for privacy/permission reasons, and some Tejina Senpai retrace/edits as included.

Once again, I'm out of material. I've finished my rewatch of Korra and have been touching the SF Alpha games which are tickling some fanart urges but those would be better suited to doing some OC work. Internet becoming hostile to art leading to some long term planning paralysis. We'll see what I can muster though.

Another gag

I got very spooked by a lot of the PP/card rule stuff the past few weeks. I was never committed to full H content anyway and in the future I'll diverge away form it, but I'd like to be able to do it and not get ramrodded. I might have to consider making everything available everywhere and using these places as tipjars eventually, but we'll see.

Current subs will continue to pay on the 1st of the month. Basically, you're no longer penalised for signing up in the latter part of the month.

Kaede + Shizuka Shirt gag

There might be a bit of artstyle shift happening due to the pseudo-break and the offscreen practicing. I had also spent days of the past week adding different shading and not really liking anything so that might be a part of my monochrome style now unless a scene calls for it. 

I've been very jealous lately of Nortuet's ongoing Nortverse comics and Creux's currently starting Splatball comics and that's something I'd like to try if I can settle for something.

I have nothing to show this week, and I had a plan to share some of the wips just to indicate that I am in fact working again. 

This might be TMI but last month we received news that a couple of family members and friends got cancer. One rapidly declined and passed this week, and the other has two weeks unless treatment starts asap. 

It doesn't directly effect me, but it does have an effect, and sticking to schedule isn't in my headspace right now.
