Macro Nature Bonus Post

I'm always trying to get used to this Olympus Tough camera (which does underwater and macro, too, is much smaller, can stay in a hot car and all other kinds of benefits), but I honestly love my old Panasonic Lumix best. It has a 60x zoom, focuses better, and I know what I'll get. I delete so many photos from this Olympus camera once I get them up on my laptop and see something is off, like the focus area, or something else random. I'm pretty pleased with this set of photos. I asked her to lay dead and then look at the camera. Creeptastic.

Walking...

I tried something here and I don't think it was successful, but I want to share good and not as good so that you can learn along with me. I asked her to walk down the hallway so that her pose was more dynamic (keep in mind she's never modeled before), but there's just too much I don't think is great. I don't love the red walls drawing your eyes there and the mess that peeks out in the other room if I didn't capture her in the right spot. And, I think I could have put her in a more flattering ...

Blend in.

I asked if I could body paint Bertie and she said sure! So, I took some inspiration from the hallway in my new studio space and made her blend in, as much as a vibrant woman can blend in, that is. :)

EMOTE!

I had this brilliant idea to use these tiny hands in a long sleeve shirt, but I don't feel like I emote very well, so I had to wait for just the right opportunity to execute them. Bertie is famous for her facial expressions (usually of joy!) so I knew she'd do a bang up job as the model for this concept. I was extra pleasantly surprised when the window blinds were reflecting in her glasses! I also love the color tones. The see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil was her idea! Hope you enjoy!...

Swiss Dot Vintage

I've had this vintage swiss dot dress for a while that a friend gave me and been wanting to use it. It's really too tight up top, and completely sheer on the bottom. I assume you wore a slip under it or crinoline. Made for great photos with light going through it. Photographer is anonymous.

Girls in the Woods

I was experimenting with angles and trying to learn her body. I don't know her that well, yet, and this is the first time I've seen her without clothes. So, I always find that to be a learning curve. Then, once I get some practice I think oh I wish I would have done that or had her do this and want to shoot again. :)

Portraits of a friend

More practicing. This shoot happened the day after all the other photos I've been posting. Still in my new studio. Posting to share what I've been up to, but also so photographers can see my shoot space or what's possible, if interested. This person has never modeled professionally before. :) I'm used to seeing her with glasses and a giant smile, so we were both trying something different.

Everything's coming up roses

I've body painted her before and I was already on a floral kick, so I thought why not blend her into the floor some more. :) I enjoy painting people, as you'll see again in future sets. She said she had to use baby wipes to get the red off after the shower. The red seems to stain more than other colors. Model anonymous. Photographer me.

Flower Head

I am OBSESSED with these. They came out exactly how I envisioned with the tones I wanted and the lighting I wanted and no editing! Model is anonymous. Concept and photography is me. I might enter the 5th one in juried art exhibits as I think it would look interestingly impactful printed large on a wall. Using Olympus Tough with Dream filter. I worked fast so she could breathe. I'm grateful people let me do odd things to them in the name of art.

I'm posting some recent photo shoots, so if you're a photographer, you can see my current studio space and get ideas. Also, I want to share them. :) Model is anonymous. Photographer is me. I am using an Olympus Tough with a Dream filter attached. I could edit these and town down the pink from the curtains and floor, but I don't mind it, and you know I'm lazy and try to shoot decent straight off the camera.

Eyes Wide Open

I feel like everyone has photographed an eye up close as a right of passage except me, so I asked a friend if I could photograph her eye. I bought a new macro ring light attachment that fits on my Olympus Tough macro camera. I think it will be helpful when I'm trying to photograph nature and I'm standing over the object blocking the sunlight. I have to have the LED turned on on the camera versus the flash. The first photo - I didn't account for the ring light (and red camera showing reflected...

I shot in the new studio. Then I started to go crazy as you saw. I shot all these in the same day. Haha

I'll post some other stuff soon.

But, in the mean time I'm trying to get all these self portraits off my phone before people see them. Lol. I mean people who shouldn't see them. As opposed to all of you random strangers on the Internet all over the world. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Blind light

I was enamored with the sunlight coming through the blinds and was trying to learn it and take photos that could be used on IG and here. My practice was helpful in that I showed Sayeed this light during our shoot last week and he was all about it. Practicing and learning light helps all the way around! Self portraits
