I bought this mannequin hanger form for $1 at a yard sale. My mind is always thinking about shoots when I'm out and about and what can be used to create something cool. Self portraits.

I was trying to learn to use a mirror successfully. I think some were and some not as much. It's hard to make the front and back do something interesting while making sure the camera isn't showing or anything else you don't want to show. I was surprised by three visitors while I was working. Self portraits.

I got these stickers for day job project and knew I was going to hijack some for a photo shoot concept. Whatcha think? Thanks for joining me again this month!
2024-08-01 22:00:04 +0000 UTC View PostHowdy, I won't be posting today, BUT I will be posting amazing self portraits I took last week for the entire first week of August, so stick around or join tomorrow. In Ohio, we have this thing called "tax free weekend" so that parents can buy school supplies for their kids without paying tax. However, this year it's extended from July 30 to August 8 so people don't have to rush the stores on the weekend and it includes anything non alcoholic/non drug that is under $500, SO I may finally bite...

I want to experiment more with these, but I often hold different things up to my lens and shoot through them. The two things I was experimenting with here are in the last photos, pink plastic champagne flute from a wedding and an antique chandelier drop. I've held up mesh fabric and I often hold up little plastic colored pieces of plastic shaped like eggs that I got out of a kid's art making kit. I think people think I alter photos in post with filters, but it's often me doing it as I shoot i...

I had a shoot scheduled last week with Dave Levingston at The Fort in Columbus. I did not know that the same person that owns Studio 8 owns The Fort. It was a really cool place. Lots of photo options. It's definitely more of an investment, though. I believe he paid $100 an hour for the unfinished warehouse part we were in. I thought you might like to see some photos of the space (and me). My feet were black afterwards and that was with my shoes on most of the time. I cringed every time I had ...

I don't know why my face looks like this. I assume because there were spiders in the basement and I wasn't excited about it. So, I put my head in the washing machine. lol

I'm personally not a fan of dark photos like these. I prefer light, more contrast, and color, but I understand that more can be pulled out of a photo in post processing when they are too dark versus over exposed. None of the photos I post of Dave Levingston's have been edited. They are just straight off the camera. Normally they don't need much editing, so these are how he intended them. He does experiment with different light or lack of light (and different cameras and locations and all kind...

This set up was created by Ggreyphoto and featured the colored gels and light bondage elements. This was another 5 minute posing/shooting time. Imagine this many poses times 5 over the course of 2 hours. Looking at these, no wonder I was tired. I thought man I'm getting too old for this, but it probably would be a lot for anyone! I was being cheeky and stuck out my tongue and it was one of the best shots and I could tell by his reaction he was happy with that one! :) In all of these sets I tr...

See previous post for basic info. This was set 2 and this featured light shibari rope work created by Greyphoto with explanations on rope and model safety. Because I was tied, this was 3 minutes per photographer so that I wasn't tied too long which can cause circulation problems and leave marks. Charlie found this sword and asked me to use it in my modeling and told me how to hold it correctly, adjusting me as we went. So, this is how many photos someone can shoot in 3 minutes. I didn't have ...

These photos are from the workshop I modeled for at Ggreyphoto's Studio 8 in Columbus in June. I had not worked with Charlie before, as his schedule and mine don't mesh. But, he took the day off work and drove down from Cleveland. He had been following me for years, so it was a nice occasion. This workshop allowed for 5 photographers to each photograph me for 3 different lighting/concept scenarios set up and provided by Ggreyphoto. This first set was for 5 minutes and was just me nude. So, th...

A fellow artist bought one of my paintings, so I visited an event he was vending at prior to working stores in Lancaster today to drop it off. (In one of my part time "day jobs" I'm a retail merchandiser and cover stores in Southeast Ohio.) This event is called Lilyfest and is held in Rockbridge/Hocking Hills area. It was beautiful. I loved it. If you get a chance to go next year, I recommend it. Enjoy the photos! :)
And, if you want to buy my art so that I'll have to drop it off (lol) ...

A long time photographer friend is having a show that will feature a lot of unseen work. I wanted to call your attention to it if you're local to Chillicothe because I think it is up your alley and will inspire your own work. So, here's the plug! Check it out! :)

I always want to shoot/model on this staircase or other lesser used areas of Proparazzi and finally got to. I like to try to capture things differently than how they've been documented before. I'm happy with this result. Something slightly different in a space used so often. Photographer is anonymous.
