WIP: Redraw

A few versions of the Sailor Moon redraw so far. This will be going up in two days (her birthday) so I still have some time, I'm going to sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow. Hopping on the Sailor Moon redraw train because it's almost her birthday! Most of the redraws have been from the anime but I wanted to redraw a group pic from the manga because the manga artwork has stayed with me more.

Here's a first stab at the Nicky Doll look! I'm using both Nicki Minaj and Barbie dolls as the inspiration but I am not sure if the final result is either Nicki or Doll enough? If you have a preference let me know but also feel free to say I need to go back to the drawing board haha

As of today I have stepped down from the MPAR mod team. If you're not aware of what MPAR or paper drag is, don't worry too much about it and I'll see you in the next post.

So I think I've figured out my game loop! The game loop is the main game mechanic you'll be doing over and over again. For instance, Stardew Valley's core loop is farming: planting, watering, and harvesting crops. Pokemon's core loop is battling other Pokemon. Tried coding some game mechanics this week! It's just the basics of a runner - the player is on the left and the girl on the right shoots either harmful black stars or collectible yellow stars at random. Right now both are being controlled by me but the goal is to get the blonde to shoot stuff automatically. This is in Godot, by the way.

I happened to have some progress shots so you can see my drawing process a little bit. With Drag Names especially, I prefer to fully render out the face first so I can really make sure I get the likeness correct. I don't usually do this for looks where the likeness doesn't matter as much.

Secret Project Supplement

Experimenting with how I can adapt my existing designs to a magical girl world. They're more magical fashionistas than regular magical girls, so they're more glamorous and mature than the usual anime trope.
