Legends Never Die: The Cusp of Change (ch. 95)

“He conquered Bulgaria? How entirely expected,” Morrigan replied blandly to the news she had expected since Siegfried left with Astrid.

She laid in one of the admittedly comfortable lounging chairs that the Romans favored, her eyes closed as she looked down upon herself through the eyes of Huginn. It was still a strange experience, to gaze through the eyes of another. Through a familiar. There were magics that could accomplish the same thing, but it was the first time Morrigan had ...

Legends Never Die: Foolish Ambitions (ch. 94)

It was certainly a clever way to get out of Norland during the Christian debate, Jasmine acknowledged as she watched from a balcony as Siegfried and his army loaded up his fleet of ships with warriors to go off and conquer a foreign land in the name of the Romans. These Bulgarians weren't a name unknown to her, but every time she had heard of them she had been lacking context. But she knew her… father had supported them financially throughout the years, as had the Caliphs before him.

Legends Never Die: The Chosen (ch. 93)

Things were moving. Slowly, but steadily. My return to Norland was marked with little fanfare, and things continued normally for the most part. Norland was continuously built up -- the forum was rapidly nearing completion, as it was worked on all hours of the day. It wasn't a grand building by any means, nothing in comparison to something like the Hagia Sophia. But it was a good learning experience.

It was a period of calm before a storm, I felt. I had made some very large promises and...

A Fun Time: Clockwork Island 3.3 (ch. 10)

“Ew, gross,” Kim muttered, her nose crinkling in absolute disgust as she witnessed Skunk One in all of his glory. In her time as a freelance agent/hero, she had encountered a wide variety of things when she went on missions. Usually against D-lister villains. Or, mainly against Drakken, a self-proclaimed supergenius who frequently tried to take over the world, only to be foiled by herself, her lifetime best friend, and his pet molerat time and time again.

To that end, flying up a m...

Best of Intentions: Welcome to the Jungle (ch. 11)

Things weren't great. Or even good, really. But, they weren't as bad as they could be. Because, simply put, as things stood there was about twenty floors that separated us. Mr. X was a whole ass problem, but he was a manageable one. What he did was compound an already existing issue, like being trapped in a pit with a super massive alligator.

“This is fine,” I said, earning a brief look of utter disbelief from Jill.

“It’s fine?” Jill echoed, looking at me like I was sp...

The issue wasn't settled, Rickard knew, days later as the festival continued on. Enough time for the story to settle, the excitement wearing off, and for the lords to start to think about everything that they heard. Most were content with the story and the perfumed fate of House Crowl. They didn't suspect that he, nor Brandon, had any reason to lie to them. Instead, they basked in what they hoped to be a greater future while taking the measure of Paul to determine if he was of any use to thei...

I had no idea who this lady was, I thought as Dakka took point with Jill behind her and me bringing up the rear. But that didn't necessarily mean anything. We were here days earlier than Jill and Carlos arrived in the game. So, it was entirely possible that there were a few survivors that had been holding out before then. I'd call it probable, even. Umbrella was filled with mouth breathing lobotomites, but some had to have recognized the danger of what they were creating.

Eddard Stark looked down at the letter carried forth by a raven from his home, Winterfell. The letter was penned by his father as Ned recognized his handwriting easily enough, even if his father's letters were few and far between. His eyes followed the looping letters, digesting the letter's contents a short moment before Robert, his friend, peered over his shoulder. “Anything interesting?”

“Not as interesting as our studies,” Ned replied dryly, folding the letter in half while...

Announcement: Break between 1st-8th

Hello everyone, I'm here to let you know that I will be taking next week off. So, no updates between the 1st-8th.

This is because I recognize the signs that I'm getting burnt out, and I need a little time to recharge my batteries. I probably should have done it earlier, since this month I moved across the country and that was a massive ordeal, but I thought I could get away with continuing on as normal. The end result is that I haven't really had a day off since my birthday last month ...

The Good Life: Bet (ch. 63) (Arcane Start)

It was always fascinating to watch Law work, Robin decided as he grinned at Asami, who wore a polite and practiced smile of her own that couldn’t quite hide her intentions. Throughout her colorful life, she had encountered all sorts of villains -- the grand schemers, the thoughtless thugs, and the opportunity seizers. Law, somehow, embodied a bit like all three at once. An agent of chaos, as Yoruichi called him. It was rather fitting.

“There are other issues that have been brought ...

Things had been settled up between me and Sukuna, less so with everyone else. After tossing Sukuna some clothing since his got wrecked, and I finished healing myself with positive energy, I took notice of the two sore losers. I had been a little too quick to dismiss them. And cursed energy, in hindsight. It still wasn't quite what I wanted it to be, but it had far more application than I initially acknowledged. Being able to heal such grievous injuries alone made it worth exploring.

The Good Life: Feast (ch. 61)

Satoru made a sweeping gesture with his hands and a condensed ball of blue cursed energy entered my Room, revealing it to be a torrent of gravitational pull. Stone, dirt, and wood from the buildings around us were ripped up and flung to the central point of the blue ball. It was a neat technique, I acknowledged, a grin on my face. Sukuna didn't even bother to uncross his arms, leaving the ball for me to deal with.

I suppose I had already revealed this card to him, so I played it again ...

Sukuna's nature had never changed. Even when he was a wretched brat, dependent on the mercy of a monk who fed him leftovers so putrid that even the desperate and starving passed them over -- he had always believed in a fundamental truth. The world belonged to the strong, and the weak lived in it at their sufferance. At his sufferance, once he became the strong.

It was for that reason he could recognize exactly what Law was. It was almost like looking in a mirror. The resemblance was on...

Legends Never Die: Taking Action (ch. 92)

As I had expected, Irene was less than happy to learn that there were ten thousand pagans ready to set sail towards Crete. Actually, less than happy was too much of an understatement. What she felt was more of a barely restrained, frothing at the mouth rage, hidden behind a practiced smile as she summoned me to Constantinople for an explanation.

She sat across from me in the same chamber she had met Otto in, except the servants were fewer, and their previous positions stood guards. Tha...

It wasn't often that I locked up. When it came to fight or flight, I leaned pretty unilaterally ‘fight’ in most circumstances. The last time I froze like a deer in headlights was when I first arrived in this world. Initially, I thought I had been kidnapped or something and it was only when I went to the hospital to make sure that I still had all of my internal organs that I saw the Umbrella logo. It wasn't that I was afraid of Umbrella exactly, but more that the ter...

The seams of reality stretched until a thread popped.

I felt kinda bad for ending my date with Robin early, but out of every weird and interesting thing I had ever seen, a sapient finger had to take the cake. Super powers were normal. After a year, I even got used to the idea of traveling to other worlds. Magic was still new and interesting, but I could understand it. Rationalize it.

A mummified finger with a whole consciousness inside of it was just flat out weird, and I loved it. It just raised so many questions and I couldn't wait for ...

Ten thousand people… ten thousand of my people. Coming here. To Norland.

This was… a problem, for a number of reasons, and I was struggling to decide which was the most pressing. Ten thousand people wasn't a small number. That was a migration. Norland was already in a state of expansion and development, so the massive influx of people wasn't impossible to handle, but up until this point I had enjoyed a steady trickle of migrants to Norland. A significant portion would have to go out...
