I was stalling. I knew it. For so long hate was the only thing that I could feel. I was a cup that was overflowing with it and there hadn't been any room for anything else. Every other feeling – respect, amusement, admiration, guilt and more were all so new that it was easy to identify them. What I was feeling now was hesitation and anxiety. Uncertainty. It was something that was always there under the surface, even if I turned my attention away from the new feeling.
"Woah!" Taiga gas...

Victory was close at hand. I could almost taste it really, but Gilgamesh, King of Heroes, was one hell of a final boss. A man so blessed by the gods that he was incapable of failure in everything except for telling the gods to get fucked, and technically, not even really that. This was, rather unfortunately, the age of humanity. I was sure the gods were bad, but I couldn’t imagine that they were as bad as things were now.

Saber's eyes widened at my words as I shouldered my bat, not even looking at Caster and Lancer fading into nothing. And they weren't the only Servants that had died. Just before my summoning, the lemon wedge version of myself felt Berserker and Assassin kick the bucket. Meaning that with Lancer and Caster dead, all that was left were Saber, Rider, Archer, and Gilgamesh. Though, I don't think he actually counted as a Servant in the same way as the others, just like neither Nobara nor I counted...

DC Earth’s version of humanity had a pretty broken threat tolerance when it came to registering danger. It stemmed from the fact that they could wake up one day and find out that the world had nearly been destroyed by one super villain or another while they were asleep. At some point, you just had to get used to it. It also probably meant that every human on the planet was a little crazy from PTSD and anxiety, which would explain some things.
The fact that my case was on schedule prov...

The Warworld wasn't just a massive weapon that would make the Death Star jealous, it was also an elaborate bunker designed to rebuff invasions. The deeper you went into the massive superstructure, the more cover the enemy had. That wasn’t even taking into account the countless back routes that allowed the defending forces to flank anyone stupid enough to attack this place. Jason had no clue the number of people needed to actually have a chance at taking this place, but he estimated that num...

DC humans were a different breed. They had to be. Since the nineteen-forties, the world had been a pretty wild place. Even before then, while DC's Earth followed the same general timeline as my Earth, there were enough wild events in history that really should have knocked the Earth clear off a similar timeline. That was never clearer than when the general response to a gigantic spaceship that was even bigger than the planet got a very firm 'Meh' by the world at large.

"You're looking…better," Barbara Gordon greeted me, standing next to my hospital bed. She eyed my face, at least the part of it that wasn't covered by bandages, and saw purple and yellow flesh. Only one of my eyes was uncovered, letting me see she and her father as they stood at the end of my bed. He watched me carefully, cautiously. I'd call James Gordon an asshole for still treating me like a coiled snake about to bite, but it was kinda hard when he was right to.

Thoughts of her home were always kept in a deep dark corner in her mind, forced back into the far recesses of her mind with all the other things that she wasn't ready to face. Raven had put them there herself. It wasn't that she forgot what had happened, but she put a great many hoops that she had to jump through to actually think about it. The memories were too painful and too heavy with emotion. Even pondering the fate of Azarath and her role in its destruction was enough to completely dest...

Elery knew something was going on with Kakarot. It was also pretty easy to guess what. "Are you going to finish that?" She asked her long time friend and teammate, all of her team sitting in a booth in an Earthling restaurant. Even Broly, despite the fact they all thought he was dead for years. Things almost felt like they had returned to normal.
Except for the fact that there had been a veritable feast in front of them -- so much food that the restaurant had to kick all the humans out ...

Kara's expression was twisted into a ferocious snarl, her hands clenched into white knuckled fists while a silent war cry spilled from her lips. In a burst of speed, she threw herself at me, her red cape fluttering behind her, a fist raised high to bring it down on me. I watched her carefully, quickly noticing the subtle changes in her form since the last time we fought. It seemed that she had learned a few lessons.
In response, I took in a slow breath and drew upon the power in my bloo...

"I thought you hated aliens," Ra's al Ghul remarked to Lex Luthor, lounging in one of the chairs in Lex's office. He was the acting Secretary-General of the New United Nations. Though, they weren't really nations anymore, and they were hardly united. They all had their own agendas, wanting their nation to be the one that had the greatest say in humanity's fate. Lex Luthor was letting them indulge in those childish fantasies. It made them so very easy to manipulate, more so considering that th...

The world ran off of irony. It was hardly a secret when you knew what to look for and lived long enough. I wasn't sure if it was the machinations of Alaya or just human nature, but the world was filled to the absolute brim with little ironic twists of fate that unceremoniously fucked over people's hopes and dreams. "Jin," Father spoke, his tone decidedly even as he stood outside of her cell. He wore a black and white martial arts robe with a detailed white tiger that started at the hem, its head curling around his right shoulder to bare its teeth. It looked like something that an American teenager might wear because it looked cool, then look back at regret when they developed an actual taste in style. However, Father projected strength with it.
"Father," Jin returned, knowing that she cut a far le...

She wore a slight smile on her face as she regarded me, "I expected you to return from the Vega system engaged with either Queen Komand'r or Co-Queen Koriand'r. Perhaps both, even." she said as I strode towards my throne, swallowing a sigh as I sat heavily upon it.
In real-time, it had only been a few days since we all left for the Vega system. For me and the Titans, it had been about a two...

"It's a very rare thing for one of my children to achieve greatness on their own, I am sad to say," Vandal Savage remarked as we watched the mushroom cloud spread up and out, acting as a gravestone to Infinity Island and Ra's Al Ghul. I watched him die. No last minute fakeouts, or pulling a disappearing act, or teleporting out at the last second. The blast claimed him, obliterating every cell in his body. He was dead. For good.
One less thing to worry about. Only about a billion left.
