A day later, the evacuation was complete. The city was empty except for those that wanted to fight Alduin, which was a fair few more than I expected. There were the members of the Crimson Demons that lined the walls around Helgen, for starters. The Companions were ready for another round too, but at the moment, they hung back to protect the archers and mages. Then there were the figures of Legend in Helgen -- Sheogorath and the Nerevarine.
My familia was in Helgen as well -- all of them...

"Alpha team, you're on the string of assassinations," Nightwing informed them, though Megan knew him better as Dick Grayson. Behind him was a projected screen that had detailed information about over thirty murders that happened immediately after the quake in Gotham. A map of Gotham showed where each one took place, or at least where the body was found, along with the estimated time of death and how they were killed. The murders stood out compared to the widescale gang shootings and riots -- ...

It was bound to happen eventually, I thought to myself as I mulled over the news that Miranda so easily delivered as she stood across from me. She didn't really think anything of it. It didn't really mean anything to her. So little that she nearly moved onto the next item on the list before I interrupted.
"Who?" I asked the question, a deadly edge to my tone. Miranda paused mid-word, her lips parted for a second before she closed them, her eyes darting back to her notebook to search for...

"I'm guessing," I began as I entered the room, the door closing behind me, "That the three of you know what questions I'm going to ask." I said, looking down at Cheshire, who was in the middle, her mask still on. Sportsmaster was to her right, while Spider-Guy was on her left. Revy was behind them, her pistols in hand, and there was a dangerous look in her eyes. An almost empty one. Almost as if she was wishing that they would try something to give her a reason to put them down.

Not needing sleep was a hellish thing to inflict on another person, I learned. It wasn't until you went without that you really understood the value of it, but sleeping rebooted your brain. It was an important button used to put a pause on the worries of day to day life, a reprieve from all the stress. When you hit play and picked your life back up the next morning, you could look at things with a fresh perspective. All the additional hours in the day totally didn't make up for that loss.

To be completely honest, Clark didn’t think that would actually work. He could admit that much to himself as Tarble crossed the border, entering south Rhelasia with his arms crossed, even as he eyed them warily. He was expecting deceit. Anticipating it. Perhaps even wanting it. Clark hadlearned what he could -- the Federation and the Trade Organization propaganda agreed on something, and it was that Saiyans thrived off of conflict.
But, as he offered Tarble a small nod, approving of h...

She was stronger than me. Significantly so. At Stage Ten of the Wrath State, she was still closer to ten times stronger than I was. She was comparable to Frieza. I could feel the sheer breadth between our power… the gap was so large that I knew that the blow that shattered my hand was a punch that she had pulled. Her face was twisted into an angry snarl, a fury in her eyes that was slightly abated by confusion when my words reached her ears.

I had been in a number of tense conversations in my life. More than once, a single word could be the difference between life and death. I wouldn’t go as far as to call myself a gifted conversationalist, but I did understand how to read a room. It was a necessary skill for me to develop. Not that it had really mattered in the end.
However, I think this was the first time I was ever in an intensely awkward conversation. The awkwardness being born from the fact that only Koriand’r spok...

The first thing I ever felt was a fist smacking into my face, snapping my head to the side and rattling every tooth in my skull. My heart immediately started thundering in my ears, making every other sound around me distant and muted. The taste of copper was heavy on my tongue, to the point it was all I could taste. Every muscle in my body ached and burned, and it felt like my blood had been replaced by liquid fire.
I think it said a lot about me that my first instinct was to throw a pu...

Organization didn't take that long, all things considered. Oddly enough, the Skyrim natives took pretty well from the 'Outlanders' for the most part. There was some serious culture clash between some groups -- Konosuba ran off of stupid, and in Skyrim, stupid got you killed, but the gods ended up being figures that unified the unlikely groups. The gods from Konosuba reassured those from Konosuba that all was well. The gods in town that were from Skyrim and Hestia reassured the natives that al...

There was an unnatural quiet, a tension in the air that felt out of place given the circumstances. The city should be filled with noise -- people digging through rubble, people shouting for help, people moaning in pain… There should be looting and search and recovery and sirens and gunshots.
Yet, the entire city was quieter than I could ever remember it being. Almost as if the city itself was holding its breath in anticipation for what would come next. Everyone in the city was holding...

That whole thing about how a man thinks about sex every seven seconds wasn't true. Honestly speaking, with the whole getting shot in the head thing, then becoming a hero, and the drama associated with the team… sex had been the last thing on my mind. It was a distant, far away thing that didn't really have anything to do with my day-to-day. My goal was to be a Hero, capital H.
Most of my attention went to tracking down the Yakuza that were spreading out through Gotham, or preparing fo...

Just like how Vegeta had been murdered. I nearly crushed the screaming man's arm in my hand, every sense honed to a razor's edge as something dark welled up in my chest.
I leaned into the Wrath State, slipping into a higher stage with the same ease as putting on a tailor-made glove. Before, I hovered betwe...

I had never experienced an earthquake before. I knew Hollywood made them out to be hugely dramatic events, but I had heard that most earthquakes were subtle things. Most of the time, you wouldn't even realize that there had been one. The more powerful variety were little trembles that threatened your balance, but the only real danger came from things falling off shelves.
What I felt at that moment was not that. I fell face forward, and the only thing that saved me from face planting int...

"- the American people shall not bow to this-" The President of the United States began, giving a speech in front of the White House. Before it was a large sea of people, all of them cheering and screaming to the point that you could barely hear the President speak. I saw countless signs -- a fair few showed my face with a circle and a slash over it. There were others that were decrying the Justice League.
There were others that protested aliens. Even Meta-humans were being lumped toget...

The Unrelenting Force was a finicky word of power. In Skyrim, I had slowly mastered it as it grew in incriminates. Then, in the final battle against Alduin, the word of power grew in strength as I began to embody the idea of being an unrelenting force of nature. I never managed to reach the point of Alduin, who with the same shout, had practically leveled a mountain.
There was a small part of me that feared that the Thu'um might be weaker. I might have lived on after death, but that was...
