Gone Native: Lost Days (ch. 2)

I approached Earth alone in an attack ball, the once favored ship of my people. The ship that once belonged to the Guardians was deposited in a safe location -- it was too valuable to risk as a general means of transportation. Not to mention that it had once belonged to the Guardians. I was perhaps the foremost expert on technology for the Saiyan race, which was mostly because what had been the working-class Saiyans had been killed over the course of the war.

The little I did know was e...

Power Corrupts: Divine Send Off (ch. 83)

"Jericho, why are you trying to buy all the property around Axel?" Hestia asked me, prompting me to look up from my work. Sitting on my workbench was the chest piece of my armor. My good armor. The Black Star sat next to it, held up by a special stand since it was too big for my normal ones. A paintbrush in my hand paused on its way to brush off more of Alduin's soul to enchant my armor.

"No reason in particular," I hedged, resuming my work. My armor was progressing nicely. It had been ...

Power Corrupts: Divine Mission (ch. 82)

"Ehh?" Kazuma uttered, a sinking feeling opening up in his gut as the news reached his ears. The words traveled in one ear and out the other, the implications not really settling in for a good, long minute. "Ehh…? What do you mean that a general of the Demon King is here to face me?" What did that even mean?!

Luna had a wild look in her eyes, "I mean that the Demon General Verdia is here at the head of his army and demanding that you face him in single combat!" She repeated herself, l...

Power Corrupts: Divine Conversions (ch. 81)

"This city is absolutely insane," I muttered to myself, tanking a punch to the stomach before I grabbed the offending moron and flung him into a cluster of other morons. They caught their brother in arms, all of them sporting bruises in the form of a handprint around their face. Beyond them were even more morons, a good… hundredish, or so. Maybe more. Maybe less. I really didn't care.

"For AQQQQUUUAAAAA!" The remaining idiots shouted at the top of their lungs before they rushed me, go...

See No Evil: Victory Lap (ch. 49)

I've never been drunk on life before, but with how I felt at the moment, that's the only thing that could possibly describe how I felt. Just drunk on life. Deliriously happy. Pure elation. It felt like my blood was singing in my veins, and my brain was absolutely dripping with  dopamine. Batman himself could kick down my door and haul me off to jail, and I don't even think that could take the edge off of my good mood because… I won.

I won. I beat Cobblepot at his own game. I had ...

I honestly had no clue how things were going to work out with Jason. What I did know was that he and Batman had some serious communication issues. Part of that was on Jason -- he was a dumb emotional teenager doing dumb and emotional things. I know the fandom woobiefied Jason Todd because of his tragic backstory, and it was tragic.

But just because you had a sad backstory didn't mean you were immune to idiocy. Jason was assuming too much, he wasn't listening, and every decision didn't n...

See No Evil: No Witnesses (ch. 47)

"Am I going to enjoy this conversation?" I asked warily, looking at Jason's scowl that seemed a little more intense than normal. That was worrying. That was the expression of someone that had bad news, and bad news was not something I wanted right now. Or, ever, really.

Jason looked away sharply before he offered a shrug, "I'm gonna enjoy it less than you." He stated with a sigh. That was good. For me, at least. But it did raise the question of what exactly this conversation would be ab...

Risk It All: Marked Cards (ch. 16)

A sigh escaped me as I leaned back in my chair, looking at my computer screen that had yet another video waiting to be edited on it. None of my videos were particularly editing heavy, but even the light amount necessary seemed to be too much for me. I just wasn't in the mood.

"I got my ass kicked," I remarked to myself, recalling the solid three hours of pure beatdown that Wonder...  Diana had delivered to us all. Me, Superboy, Kid Flash -- the entire team. Despite her cla...

Power Corrupts: Divine Party (ch. 80)

Life was absolutely fantastic, I decided, opening my eyes from a night of sleep and finding a familiar weight on top of me. I’m pretty sure that Hestia had started cuddled up next to me, so she must have moved at some point during the night. Not that I was complaining. Despite the woman/goddess on top of me, it felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. For the first time in I didn’t know in how long, I felt like I was waking up on the right side of the bed.

A little time could change a lot of things. A surprising amount of things. The dominoes had been lined up and knocked over, and in the past two weeks, I had been feeling the aftermath. So had Lowtown. Especially Lowtown. In the end, I couldn't have possibly foreseen every possible reaction to the news of Lowtown being real, my press release, Batman deciding to use me to take down Cobblepot, becoming a multibillionaire, or having billions worth or real estate under my control.

Risk It All: Dealer's Viewing (ch. 15)

"Little more than a week ago, you three along with Superboy stood before me and the League and boldly proclaimed that you were ready for more," Batman said, his tone flat as Kaldur, Richard, and Wally stood before him. Diana stood by the door, letting the boys receive a much-deserved dressing down, her arms crossed as she made an effort to look distinctly unhappy. "We gave you the chance that you asked for because we believed that you were mature and experienced enough to be allowed autonomy....

“Who is this guy again?” Garfield asked in a low whisper, being carried in Kori’s arms. He could fly, but then he wouldn’t be able to run his mouth.

He looked to them for answers, but Raven found herself looking to Tim Drake since it seemed that he was the only one with answers. He clenched his teeth, anxiety rolling off of him in waves that Raven felt despite his best attempts to keep his emotions under control.

It wasn’t something she often felt from Tim, at least not ...

It was amazing how quickly things moved when you were at the top, Kazuma thought to himself, sitting on the wall that surrounded the city of Axel. His feet dangled off the ledge as he leaned back, propping himself up with his hands. He wasn't supposed to be up here, Kazuma didn't think, but the guards that patrolled just kinda awkwardly shuffled away while shooting glances at him. They weren't going to tell him he had to leave.

Kazuma wasn't even entirely sure what had happened. It was ...

I took a seat at my desk and tried to ignore the itch that taunted me underneath my cast. Three weeks was going to be pure hell. It's barely been an hour, and already it's driving me up the wall. But, I fought off the urge to tear off the cast to satisfy the itch -- mostly because I really didn't want to get caught looking like an idiot when the time came.

My office was soundproof, so I shouldn't have to worry about Superman listening in on my conversations. I just had to wait until eit...

"I was always going to leave the Justice League eventually," Batman informed as he stepped forward, standing next to me as we both turned our attention to Earth. Emotion swirled in my chest, a volatile mix that left me clueless as to what I actually felt. "For one reason or another. My methods are necessary in Gotham, but Gotham is not all of America, much less the entire world. This day was always going to come."

Going Native: Gaining A Reason (ch. 84) (Epilogue)

"What now?" Hal wondered to himself, sitting on a rock floating through space as he gazed up at the two orange balls that hovered in orbit like two moons. There was no one around to answer his question. He wasn't really looking for an answer either. Mostly because there were no good options -- or, at least, the one that he wanted to take came with some serious downsides. Like reinstituting a galactic spanning war, to start with.

The War of Light was over. The looming threat that had hov...
