Hedgeblog: Sonic R Christmas

Today's GIFs - I've added a bunch of GIFs from the PC version of Sonic R!

In this version (and the Sonic Gems Collection on Gamecube & PS2), they added the ability to have different weather effects - Rain and Snow!

I've done a few passes of the stages Radical City, Reactive Factory and Regal Ruins with different characters and added 15 new GIFs based on those stages with Snow!

PlayStation Park: Snowboard Kids Plus (PSOne)

"What?" you say? "Snowboard Kids is a N64 series!" In Japan, they actually released one for the PlayStation! It's an extended version of the original game, with some additional characters, CD soundtrack, and FMV intro!

VGAA Paid: Shining Force III (Saturn)

Whew! What a long one. A massive extraction for Video Game Art Archive, which lasted a whole month! It's some of the best art out there to be honest, especially for a game which very few people have played.

VGAA Free: Amazing Penguin (GB)

Snow-adjacent, Amazing Penguin is a bit of a QIX-like game for the Game Boy, with a cute penguin making ice!

We scanned this back in 2019 - 5 years ago, now it's available for free for all of you!

Going through older Sonic stages with a winter theme, I hadn't made any new GIFs of the stage since 2021. Now I've added 29 new ones across the Sonic, Tails and Big versions of the stage!

SEGA City Paid: Pengo (Mega Drive)

It's actually a pretty fun little game in that Sokoban, Crate pushing style of game, but also a bit like Pac-Man.

Pengo was a popular SEGA arcade game back in the 80's, and oddly enough got a Japanese exclusive sequel back in 1995!

The nice part of the SMAS version of the Mario games is that once you complete the game, yo can just select the world to go to. Not so with the original!

More winter stages! I've never gotten around to making GIFs from this version of the game, so now's the time!

World 4 is Snow themed, and it's also brutally hard! I've added 8 new GIFs from this stage.

It's interesting to see that this game sold a lot, but not a whole lot of nostalgia about it. Let's see if these do well!

It's Tricky! The second SSX title on the PS2.

I've done a fair few GIFs of the Ice stages from Sonic Advance 2 and 3, but not that many of Ice Mountain Zone from the original Sonic Advance.

I've played a bit of the stage once more, this time with Knuckles! I've added 8 new GIFs for the stage.

Fun fact: this game was developed by CAVE, who previously made Steep Slope Sliders on the SEGA Saturn. I loved that game, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this game exists!
