A Sentimental Road Trip

We trade La Vagabonde for a car for the day to road trip the island of Anguilla. Join us as we set foot on the whitest sandy beaches, explore abandoned streets of houses and eat some bloody good Roti. Today amongst all the sight seeing, we also found ourselves lost in a few deep conversations. It was a day to reflect. I hope you like the extra free content today 😊 Cheers you lovely lot.

Operation ‘Zero Chance' [Ep.151]

Things are not lookin' good here in Anguilla. The seagulls are 100% to blame and I'm going to hear about this from Riley for at least the rest of my life hahahaha 😂 (I feel compelled to write here that Riley and I pick on each other and joke around onboard most days, and that it's all in good fun). Join us for a speedy sail to another island here in the Caribbean and explore a shipwreck with me! Oh and on a serious note, what's wrong with my aloe vera plant?

Thanks for watching!

When the Crew's in a Bad Mood

Thanks to each and every one of you lovely Patrons and your continued weekly support on our Monday episodes, we have been able to keep putting out extra content for you guys!! How cool is that. We're unbelievably grateful to have you a part of our team. So here's something extra for you this weekend. Love Riley and Elayna xo

The interlude. We wanted to leave to a new island this morning but a package in the mail was holding us back. I was grumpy all day, sorry boys. Not because of the mai...

Working Harder Not Smarter [Ep. 150]

Our only reason for heading to the Dutch side of the island, Sint Maarten, was to pick up our new part that had arrived in the mail and to fix the heck out of our boom. Join us as we frolic around the busy town of Simpson Bay, dinghy around the waterways to see the damage from Hurricane Irma and find ways to entertain ourselves onboard.

You'll see me plug my new cover song on Bandcamp: https://elaynac.bandcamp.com

It's summer time, and the livin' is easy [Ep. 149]

Moored off the lush green island of Nevis, we've got plenty of exploring to do, a freezer full of fish to share with our neighbours, a volcano to climb and a whole lotta good vibes to give! Yo ho ho!

Made with love,
Elayna xo (& Riles)

Spearfishing Wahoo from a Sailboat!

Hey hey! We promised at the end of episode 148 that we would have this bonus video for you all on Friday but we got a little distracted with the baby announcement... We will still publish episode 149 tomorrow :)

It was great to see all of Rileys hard work pay off. I'm as proud as a mother would be after seeing their child win first place in the sports carnival. Riley made this video for you guys to show you how he caught his first big wahoo off the coast of Redonda - Caribbean. Congrats babe ...

THE MOST EXCITING NEWS OF OUR LIVES!!!

We’re so excited you guys… Join me for the day as Riley goes spearfishing and Steffen hits the town. With the boat to myself I get into a bit of yoga, have a jam sesh and potter around the house. We've been experimenting with a (free bonus) 'daily vlog' type style for Friday's. Let us know what you think of them.

We figured you already knew this news so it wouldn't matter if we put this video up everywhere at the same time. For anyone who hasn't already heard of our exciting news, you can ...

Let it Rain, La Vagabonde's in Transit [Ep. 148]

In desperate need of a new adventure and destination, we leave the harbour despite the fact that our boom was still broken. The part we needed had arrived, but it was the wrong size. We fired up the engines and Riley decided to get into some serious fishing/spearfishing on our way west to the magical deserted island of Redonda ✨

Thanks for your support guys! Hope you enjoy the episode.

Caribbean dreaming.. this is BOAT LIFE in tropical Antigua! [Ep. 147]

La Vagabonde is anchored in beautiful Falmouth Harbour waiting on spare boat parts. Although it's never a nice thing having your sailing plans based around logistics, Antigua is certainly not a bad place to be stuck for a while. We get salty with some freediving and hangout with you onboard. Enjoy! Videos made with love.

These eps are made possible by you. Thanks so much!

The Time I Broke our Boom - Behind the Scenes ‘How To’ videos [Ep. 146]

A 25+ knot wind day practicing manoeuvres for our ‘How To’ videos coming soon, resulted in a broken gooseneck (don’t try that one if you can avoid it 😄). Any guesses as to who it was? Join myself, Riley, Steffen our German friend and the lovely Matthieu from France with our behind the scenes episode of the making of our videos. We’ll be releasing them in the coming months! Super excited to share them with you guys as we’ve had a ton of requests. But first we’ve gotta fix this boom...

Obstetrician in South Miami?

Hello you lovely humans!! A bit of an odd question, I was wondering if any of you happened to know a good obstetrician here in Miami you could refer me to? I'm having a LOT of trouble finding a doctor who's available.

But Riley, myself and baby are going great 😊 I have a 4 month baby bump right now and pretty soon I'll be able to show it off in our videos. But we will keep you updated on here as well with photos etc. So exciting.

Anyway, standing by. Thank you ❤️

Not Every Day is Catching Wahoo [Ep. 145]

After getting the day off due to no fuel on Barbuda, the weather turns bad so we decide to move anchorages to take cover in Antigua. We try to make the most of our time with a bunch of mundane jobs/chores that come with living on the water. Riley goes spearfishing with his mate George with not a lot of success and we explore Fort Barrington.

Thanks so much for watching! We hope you enjoy it.

A few helping hands after Hurricane Irma [Ep. 144]

Riley, myself, and two other boats drop the pick in southern Barbuda to volunteer in the clean up after the devastation of hurricane Irma. It was a real eye opener having spent time in the town, talking to the locals and seeing how progress on rebuilding the island was coming along. At this stage they say it is going to take them at least another two years to get back to 'normal'. We also run out of cooking gas and have to resort to camp fires for dinner, which is always fun.

We were surprised...

Days Underwater ft. Shark vs Lobster and Marlin! [Ep. 143]

Join us in the breath taking crystal blue waters of Barbuda as we take on Sharks, Lobster and Marlin! Days where we seem to spend more time wet than dry are our favourite days. We also explore an abandoned hotel which was pretty eerie. Thanks so much to you guys/gals for making these videos possible. This video was a blast to make for everyone.

Have a great weekend and we'll speak to you soon!

Let's Meetup in Miami on June 17!

Hey everyone!

We are very excited to finally reach American soil! Coconut Grove Sailing Club in Miami have kindly offered to celebrate it by hosting an event at their club on Sunday, the 17th of June. We realised shortly after setting the date that this is also fathers day,  nevertheless, we'd love to see you there, maybe you could bring your father to celebrate? We have 130 tickets for sale and going by our event in QLD earlier this year, we expect it will sell out fast.

We will gi...

Is Robert De Niro an A$$h0!e ???

After discovering something in Barbuda, we decided to make a bonus free video for everyone. This will be released to the public on Thursday/Friday.....

Alright people. There is a plan to take over Barbuda. It appears as though your two favourite sailors have blown the lid off an international scandal! Pip pip, tally ho. Join us as we don our investigatory journalist hats for the first time and bumble our way through a controversy so deep it will tear at the very fabric of society. This i...

A Solo Mission in Paradise [Ep. 142]

Upon arrival to this new island, we were completely wow'ed. We already have a good feeling about Barbuda and we've barely seen the place yet. Riley joins his mate George for a spearfish and I agree to drop him off in the boat and go back to Cocoa Bay around the other side of the island and anchor by myself. It's funny how after 4 years I've never had the opportunity to take La Vagabonde anywhere solo. It's always been the two of us, or Riley solo sailing while I take care of work on land etc etc...

No Navigation? No Problem. [Ep. 141]

Sailing up the west coast of Antigua with our pals Christian and Katy has been swell (pun intended), until one morning when we woke up, fired up the engine keen to set off on a new adventure only to find our navigation gear was down and out. No depth sounder or wind speed indicator. We fired up the satellite phone and called up Outremer HQ after a little bit of investigatory analysis. Alas, we had no luck. Join us diving shipwrecks, living off the land and exploring some gorgeous spots here on o...

Murphys Law in Full Effect [Ep. 140]

The one week we don't want the bad weather, we get it. It's funny how that works. Christian and Katy join us on La Vagabonde for a week of sailing and to experience boat life for the first time. It's always nice showing new people how it is that we live on the water. Except for those times when the weather is bad and our guests are sea sick. Sorry crew, fingers crossed it clears up soon 😄

Thanks for your support, hope you enjoy the episode.

My views on her at the moment.

Hey guys I shot this in one take and intentionally left it unedited for it to have the feel of a conversation. Having touched on several areas that require their own individual discussion such as “catamaran versus monohull” and “do catamarans flip?” I hope that this can be taken as something which assists my main point rather than a series of individual points that need to be corrected in turn. I hope to be able to renew and discuss things in the future with you all as I learn more in th...

Does this look crooked to anyone else?! [Ep. 139]

The neck is all good but that seriously looks a bit wonky doesn't it 😂. I'm sure its fine. We're over the moon with the good news (although very tired from journey). Join us for propeller dramas, an interview with 3 ladies who spent 60 days rowing across the Atlantic and show you some adventures under the Caribbean sunshine. Its great to be back in a place we can have a go at some fish. Riley is pretty excited to go spearfishing again.

Thanks so much for supporting our videos!

Is that LAND I smell on the horizon? [Ep. 138]

It’s been 13 days that we’ve been out at sea for now and we’re starting to lose the plot. But we’re nearly there! Join us with some propellor dramas, devastating wine spillage and a bit of whinging from me (Elayna) as we get closer to land. It was bound to happen. The insomnia is real. Any advise for helping me sleep? I’ve tried everything from herbal and serotonin supplements, meditation and exercise but nothing helps. I'm a mad lady. A Sacrifice to the Sea Gods [Ep. 137]

As we reach the halfway mark across the Atlantic, thing's seem to have taken a turn for the better. We celebrate with good food, wine, and a spontaneous decision to cut the locks that turns into a sacrifice to the sea gods, in hope to finally be blessed with a fish... You need to see it to believe it :)

Thank you so much for all your well wishes and offers for support! It is very humbling to know how many people care about our well being.

What the F#*% do we do? [Ep. 136]

Join us days from anywhere as we try and figure out what to do about Riley's spinal injury. To say it was an emotional 24 hours is a huge understatement. It was on our minds the entire time and I kept re-living the experience over and over in my head and had to stop to breathe through it. Hectic!. We couldn't stop thinking about what we would do if Riley did need spinal surgery again. With no x-ray machine out there we couldn't be sure what was going on inside there. All we could do is trust Ril...

Spinal Injury Fears on Atlantic Crossing [Ep. 135]

The Fear of Dragging Anchor with Dodgy Engines [Ep. 134]

Riley and Josje left me onboard by myself to go and hike a red hill on the island of La Graciosa. The wind picked up to 32 knots, gusting to 35 and the two boats next to me left to find shelter one having dragged anchor first. I’d stayed home to catch up on some work but because stress levels were through the roof, I didn’t get a thing done. But I’m glad I did stay home, because we would have never of known about the sudden change in the weather all the way up on that hill. One engine wasn...

5 Days at Sea With Friendly Tuna, Dolphin Mayhem and 3 Amigos [Ep. 133]

Jump aboard for our 600nm from Spain to the Canary Islands. We’re greeted by one of the best dolphin displays we've seen, some crazy fog, friendly birds and a little tuna that hung around the boat following us for days. Welcome to the land of cactus’s and dusty towns. We’re so happy to have our good friend Josje joining us again! We’re always guaranteed fun times when she’s around.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching and supporting this thing we do.
