Wish us luck!! We will keep you posted.

After we transit the Panama Canal, we spent a week or so moored in Panama City. It’s a busy channel, which meant La Vagabonde was constantly copping the wakes of all the traffic. She was also out most nights and not coming back to the mooring ball until 5am... and was constantly complaining of a hangover. We also made the most of being moored near a city for a while, Riley went on a history tour to learn about Panama as he is recently obsessed with pirates and I went to check out an animal she...

Yeehah! We rafted up with our assigned partner yacht and motored to our first set of locks of the Panama Canal. We were so excited to finally experience what the canal is all about and how this man made wonder of the world works. We spent the night riding 3 locks UP, 26m in total. We then moored in the Gatun Lake over night and repeated the same process the next day except this time going DOWN over 3 locks. I didn’t realise how much of a tourist attraction the canal actually was until I saw a ...

We sailed to Panama and prepared for our transit through the Panama Canal! We got stuck into the paper work with our agent Eric (whom we highly recommend) and we were soon scheduled to go through in just a few days time. We made the most of the convenience of being at a marina and did the biggest food shop of our lives in preparation for the 20 - 30 day’er from the Galapagos to the Marquesas, which will be coming up soon. Eeeeeek. I need to see a damn sloth before we leave Panama or I’ll cry...

White sandy beaches, turquoise waters, enough palm trees and coconuts to shade and feed you for an entire life time… yes please! Sailing in the San Blas Islands is truly a dream. Sailors come here and stay year round as this sailing haven is also out of the hurricane belt. If anyone ever gets the chance to sail the San Blas, we say a mega DO IT!!! I hope you guys enjoyed the ep :) A huge thank you to our Patrons for supporting us and making this dream of ours possible.

Hey guys, we requested Dave to upload this vid to pop up at our half way mark of our big sail from the Galapagos - Marquesas (3000 miles, ish) which should now be our current location. Eeeeeek. Wish us luck for the other half. I can already tell you now that I'll be sick to death of mushy porridge.
Stay tuned for Episode #34 which should come out soon where we continue on exploring San Blas Islands with legendary Patreon guest Jeff from USA.
Thanks so much for your support along ...

Elay was fit enough to leave port, so we headed off for our overnight sail to the famed San Blas Islands. Sailing the San Blas islands has been a dream of ours for some time now and it was exactly what we hoped it would be like. These tiny islands scattered all around the place from a distance, resemble the perfect mirage image you would see in the desert after 2 weeks with no food or water in the scorching heat with vultures circling above your head just waiting for you to drop. Horayyyy for th...

We tied off La Vaga securely in the marina in Cartagena and hugged the jetty after our not so pleasant sail from Santa Marta. It was good to be land bound again for a while! We caught up with some of the crew from the Netflix show ‘Narcos' (cheers Jo and Jeff for an amazing dinner, you guys are the bomb) and explored the streets of this beautiful city. All the fun we had been having ran my immune system right down and poor old Elay had to get a wisdom tooth pulled out. A huge thank you to Yoli...

In Santa Marta - Colombia, we are joined by two good friends Ana and Connor who were travelling Colombia at the same time. Yippeeeee, friends! We explore what this beautiful beach town had to offer and celebrated our reunion. The port authorities wouldn’t let us leave to our next destination being Cartagena, as the weather was apparently ’too rough’. We left the day after…. and wished we had waited just that ONE extra day later to give things time to chill out. OOPS. Soz guests. Please, ...

We leave divers paradise - Bonaire for our estimated 3 day sail to Santa Marta - Colombia. This passage is known for its wild winds off the coast of Colombia, ranking in the top 5 worst passages in the world. We started out with close to nothing winds and we got to throw the assy up for the first time since the Atlantic crossing. Ohhhhh the beautiful colours. This fantastic weather kept until we were a few hours from arriving at our destination. Then it hit us! Saw some tuna. Unfortunately we di...

We sail from Los Roques to Bonaire, stopping at a tiny bunch of islands called Aves. I’ve never seen so many birds in my whole life! We get salty for a few days and checkout some of Bonaires many dive sites that it has to offer. We throw on some scuba gear and go and checkout the wreck of the 'Hilma Hooker'. She lies in approximately 100 feet (30 m) of water and at 240 feet in length and is quite a site to see! A huge thank you to Alejandro, Tama and Jimmy for being legends and showing us a gr...

We run out of food on board and return to the main island of Grande Roque. There is really only so much fish you can eat in one day. We celebrate new years at Nellys restaurant which was a blast. A huge thank you to Nelly and the team for looking after us and making us feel at home. Seriously, Los Roques is worth the visit just to eat her fabulous food!!! The rest is self explanatory. Hope ya'll enjoyed the vid :)

Los Roques is an archipelago of 350 islands, cays and islets! We leave the main island and set off to explore some. We are running out of food quite quickly and spearing is forbidden in Los Roques, so we make a trip to the next island over Aves to stock up with some fish. The main island only receives food deliveries every few weeks and we just missed the previous one by a day... We found some really cool spots in Los Roques and because the islands were mostly deserted and we couldn't do much, w...

Our 3 day sail to Los Roques from Grenada was a mighty good one. We kept each other entertained and made the most of our time at sea with no form of communication with the rest of the world for a few days, which we we hadn't had in a while. We arrived in Grande Roque, the main island of the bunch. We expected the island to be quite expensive after reading on the internet that it was. But we soon found out that it was exactly the opposite! Probably the cheapest place we have ever been so far! St...

Our 3 day sail to Los Roques starts off a bit hairy. We had to leave in a bit of a rush as we were expecting some bad weather (worst than what we already had) in a few days which we wanted to dodge. Squall after squall, 40 knots of wind at one stage and 3m waves from behind absolutely BLEW us to Los Roques. Threw the lures out, but no fish. Devo. Stay tuned for our last days sail and our arrival to Los Roques!
Thank you to all of our patrons for making these movies possible.

We sail to Chaguramus Bay - Trinidad from Grenada to install a watermaker we had ordered. The mail arrives and we get started with the installation straight away in the marina. We decided it would be a smart idea to install one before we head into the Pacific, after one to many close calls of nearly running out of water on longer passages we've had in the past...
We get the job done, and finally have some free time to go and checkout Trinidad. It's a pretty cool little spot!

La Vagabonde is finally wet and we are very excited... We overnight sail to Trinidad, about 80nm south of Grenada after having to firstly sort out a few troubles with the engine before we could leave. Came across a few oil rigs and little fishing vessels as we motored through a beautiful channel and moored in Chaguramus bay. We are in Trinidad to install a watermaker in preparation for the Pacific, so our adventure is put on hold for the next week as we are working on the installation in the mar...

Hurricane season is over, and La Vagabonde is nearly wet again. Yippee. We take care of a few jobs on the boat at Grenada Marina before the relaunch. Explore some waterfalls and take part in Grenadas weekly 'Hash Race', which takes us on a trail through the rain forest, across rivers and through A LOT of mud.
Once again, we love you Patrons. Thanks for making these movies possible. We wouldn't be where we are today without you lovely bunch!
Love Elay (& Riley)

We drove 820km north from Perth up the Western Australia coastline. Did some spearfishing and 4WD'ing. Western Australia is where I was born, and I wanted to show you guys what my home looks like. The car broke down (Riley broke it, sorry Jimmy) so we hung around there for a bit waiting for repairs. Riley got a bit excited at the pub. We return back to Perth where we pack up and get ready to head back to La Vagabonde in Grenada. Yeeehaaaaa!!

La Vaga dries off for a few short months during the hurricane season in Grenada. We prepare her for our absence, take down and stow the sails, clean her head to toe, throw out all food and a number of things before we leave. We take you back to Australia with us! Riley and I visit family and friends before we knuckle down and try and find some work, so we can afford to return to our beloved La Vaga in a few months time...

You can really tell it's nearing the hurricane season, as the weather starts to get more and more hectic and un predictable in this part of the Caribbean! We have been greeted by lots of rain, squalls, and more rain as we head south towards Grenada where we haul out for the hurricane season.
We are kidnapped by two local legends - Nick and Dani from Saint Lucia, and they take us on a tour of their island showing us some hidden waterfalls, hot springs and tell us a bit about the history of...

Riley helps look for two men missing at sea after their boat caught on fire and they jumped over board in the night. Faced with some bad weather for the next few days as we over-night sail to Martinique where we discover some of Martiniques history and end up having a really good time. Still on the hunt for a perfect straw hat for Riley. Every place we go. Cheers Jack for throwing that precious hat overboard.
