Ralph quietly moved through the windows on his laptop computer while sitting in his room.

Right now he was ‘off shift’ and the work he would’ve been doing, was being handled by, surprisingly, Liseth. She’d learned navigational charts and direct course plotting very quickly in the week since they left Mirkil’s Flag ship.

Chapter 22

Iren shook herself pulled off her sports bra and short-shorts, kicked her shoes off, and then just left it all on the ground. She was naked in all her glory once again.

Edmund sighed, looked at the strange misbegotten glowing and sparking sword and then set it to the side. It was just one amongst a pile of strange weapons, things, objects, everyday items, that clearly did far more than they were likely expected to.

Edmund found nothing.

There was no door, no window, no entry, no exit.

Edmund had followed the wall around to the doorway and entered it. Found nothing other than a six by six space, then came back through the doorway.

Moving along it all the way back to the point he started.

Genuinely there was no way to transit into this area.

Edmund peered down the massive hole Iren had dug. It seemed nearly identical to the first hole she’d dug, just in a slightly different position.

In the end, despite their best efforts, the hole she’d burrowed down had missed the mark slightly. Enough to through off the coordinates they needed, but not enough to be a true issue.

Because they had to reset the Save-state anyways.

Edmund was staring at the strange creature in front of him. Unable to truly comprehend what it was, or the fact that it was talking to people without an issue.

To Edmund, it looked a lot like a humanoid bird.

Edmund took hold of the Save-state, pushed himself into it, and then found himself looking into a strange location. Especially given where it had been positioned.

What Edmund was looking at was a large room. There was a single table, a chair, and it was empty. Though to Edmund, it felt like whoever had been here, had only just left.

Edmund groaned, leaned away from the pad of paper and closed his eyes. Not even hesitating, he simply pulled his helmet off and set it to the side. Then began scrubbing at his face with both hands.

The computer that’d been playing some stream immediately went from understandable to nonsense in a flash. Farady’s sentence had stopped right in the middle from discussing having made a bet on some type of sport thing, to gibberish to him.

Edmund was staring out the window from the passenger seat. Iren was slouched low in the backseat with a jacket that wasn’t big enough to cover her bust covering her. She was wearing it backwards with the back open against the seat.

The radio was on and it meant nothing at all to Edmund. It was all gibberish to him and meant no sense at all. There were times he swore he could identify a word here or there...

No sooner than the big bright Dragon settled down on the ground, then Edmund quickly adjusted the cinch around her throat. Bringing it tighter and making sure she wasn’t going to try and snatch him off her neck.

There was a rushing ripping noise and then Edmund was dressed in full Legionnaire armor, minus the helmet. He even had the overpowered ballistic rifle that he normally carried.

Snapping it up to his shoulder, Edmund was holding onto Iren with just his thighs and legs. No sooner than the rifle was snuggly secured against his shoulder, Edmund immediately sighted it in on the other Dragon, a strange brightly silver looking color, and squeezed off several bursts.

“Okay. Okay, I’m… I’m.. Okay. Whew!” Claire said, laughing as she got comfortable in a very confused looking Ryker’s lap. She adjusted her dress, cleared her throat, then looked to Edmund.

Looking at his notepad and juggling it along with the Log. He was using one to crosscheck with the other as well as Oz. Because without a workable GPS there wasn’t much he could do about it.

Given that they were walking into zones of Australia that had extreme time shifts that weren’t visible to the eye, it wasn’t as if Iren could just scout it out for him either.

Edmund had spent at least five months further just watching over Sam, Leila, and Red. Rewinding to his previous Save-states and having Iren fly off to go search the areas for things they’d need to stave off an unfortunate end for the trio.

The Dragon would return with a creature, they’d release it into the nearby vicinity for the three people, and let them handle the rest. As if they’d found it all on their own without any help at all.

Edmund frowned, looked at his phone, then looked back to the portal Dot held open.

“Dot… would you close it briefly for me? Just something like… ten seconds. Please time it?” Edmund asked, still watching the clock on his phone.

“Alright, Teddy,” Dot murmured, watching him with a warm smile. A spell quickly formed in her hands and began spiraling about, snapped together, then vanished.

Edmund watched as Iren immediately shifted into her dragon form. Her head tilting away from the withering fire as she was shot by a large number of firearms. She tilted her head away and looked back into the portal, one of her wings covering up to cover her face.

“There’s a lot of them!” she called over the racket and then her head evaporated, struck by something much heavier than small arms fire.

“Well, that’s a reset,” Edmund muttered then sighed.
