I have recently made a breakthrough in my work and process! I've been struggling with my brushwork immensely and after consulting many art friends about it discovered what I've been doing wrong.
Essentially, I learned to paint by tiling, or blocking in these big shapes. This lead to me using a full opacity brush almost all the time, and gave me very sterile brushwork. I discovered that I needed to be working at around 50% or less opacity (after the initial block-in) using textured...
