Tour Diary - Part 13

in YALE country. New Haven. Sitting outside the venue, after a bumpy ride from NYC! But slept good and hard once we landed.

Holy Moly, lots to get through on this one, as it was a big, fun one at Webster Hall!

We were soundecking, just finishing up and I was sitting at the piano, and for some reason started playing a song we played a few times last summer: Look Out Cleveland, by The Band...we played it when we were in Cleveland, and then again in Toronto, as The Band i...

Tour Diary - Part 12

Sitting on the bus, parked outside Webster Hall in NYC! I've walked past Webster Hall hundreds of times during my NY days, but have never seen a show here. It seems like a classy joint and Josh and Ellie both report that it's a great place to play.  The room is nearly sold out so it should be a hot one TONIGHT!

Baltimore turned into a fun one - More of a rock club with the potential for bad sound (ironically) but it sounded good to me! I held back JUST a bit to keep myself al...

I spy Oriels Ballpark dead ahead.

Is Baltimore the Northeast? MidAtlantic???  The end of the south or the beginning of the North.  These roads sure feel the start of it. About to enter MY part of the country - Overpopulated, old, dying infrastructure... pothole... poorly maintained highways.  Honestly don't think i've ever been to Baltimore! I'll try and get some crabs!&nbs...

Tour Diary - Part 10

About halfway through North Carolina en route to Richmond VA...

Yesterday, we posted up at some kind of Marina Resort complex on Mount Pleasant in Charleston, SC. - We had vague talk of heading to a minor league game or dipping into town for dinner, but ended up having lunch at the very good, but overpriced Fish House Restaurant on the complex (one of the finest Shrimp Po Boys I've had)  and then, later, the pretty good, but very overpriced Fish House Restaurant for dinner.

DAY OFF! Riding into Charleston, SC where I believe we'll post up at a hotel near the harbor. Maybe take a dip. We'll see.

It was another level last night in Tampa. We played at a sorta stuffy old theater that worried me as it felt a little TOO nice in there. I was feeling a little nauseous in the afternoon... maybe one of the best breakfast sandwiches i've ever had wasn't sitting well with me. I don't know. I had that feeling of uh-oh... is something coming? am I gonna start puki...

Tour Diary Part 8

IN FLORIDA!  Just north of Gainesville.

Birmingham, you nearly did it -a few points from a perfect score, only two 4s from Luke and JP on the sound, which is still very good...

The audience was great (it was a standing room only, which, I think helps the energy. The room was packed, excited, and with me the whole night - a great southern crowd who had a sense of humor about themselves, as I fell into my terrible southern guy trope a few times.   We did a speed...

Tour Diary - Part 7

Crossing into Alabama, en route to Birmingham - The Satellite, one of the all-time best back stages in America that I'm aware of. It's the entire second floor of the venue and it's set up like a nice loft apartment... very cosy and welcoming. Record player, games... good seating. We're all looking forward to it.

Yesterday was a nice and easy day - Having recently spent a few weeks in New Orleans, and considering the heat I felt absolutely no desire to do or see anything in the Big Easy....

On the 10E heading into New Orleans. Slept well, and had to pee 4 times during the night, due to drinking lots of water and tea last night, but the voice held up nicely and I'm feeling optimistic that I'm over the early tour voice hump.

San Antonio was a weird one. We played at a venue that usually hosts touring Broadway shows, so the backstage was nice but utilitarian (laundry, showers, no sofas to stretch out on...)  The Majestic had two theaters, and we were in the smalle...

Rolling into San Antonio, after a nice chill day of nothing.

We parked at the Holiday Inn Express in Van Horn TX - took a dip in the pool... showered in our day room, watched the news of the indictment of DJT, had a nice dinner with the gang at Van Horn Cattle Co... we split a slice of cheesecake which has now become a bit of an in-joke on the bus due to a new joke in the comedy set... if you know, you know... and soon many of you WILL know. Took in the Texas clouds and hit the sa...

A night off! We're cruising past El Paso en route to Van Horn, Texas where the bus will park in a hotel parking lot, and we'll have one room to take turns showering...  I've stopped in Van Allen before and folks, there's not much more to do there than that. There's one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever had, famous for its shrine to John Madden who would stop there on his way to football games in HIS bus.  I got the Chili Releno and it was a limp, soggy, under-fried blob fil...

Tour Diary Part 2

Good morning! Cruising down the 215 towards San Diego, after an early morning stop at. the Bus Repair store to fix a leaky water pipe or something. I'm hoping they can also resolve a weird issue that's causing some trouble. There's a closet in the back of the bus, and in the closet is a safe, the kind you might find in a hotel. The safe has an alarm when you try to open it too many times, OR apparently when it's jostled too much like it might on a bumpy highway road, which has led to the alar...
