Luke is working on the otter rig and this cutie patootie is almost ready for his first test animation.
The flower crown is missing as we will attach this via a socket in UE4. This means we can add some variation to the otters so they don't all wear the same outfits. As for the grass skirt people have requested I will take a look at the outfit options UE4 has rather than having Luke rig it.

For our first level you will visit the nearby mountain range. Trapped with an injured fox cub you'll need to find someone who can use Earth Magic to heal and save him before it's too late.
The level will introduce you to basic mechanics, wall jumping, attacking, wall running etc. The location is inspired by Indian Ruins!

I start off by making seams across the model and then use pelt map to unwrap the sections of the model. The square texture is used to help check for any stretching or warping. I then bring the model into substance painter to apply the texture.
Unfortunately I couldn't improve on the texture, my tablet is acting up and was lagging when detecting pressure, I'll return to the texture at some point and add some more detail to the fur

Some of the other designs that were mocked up for the t-shirt merch, although we loved all of them the top left and bottom left were clear favourites. We ended up picking the top left design but may also have the bottom left finished also!

Caught and controlled by the cat pirates the Kraken is a fierce opponent, Our first mini boss for the cat pirate level. Still deciding on a colour scheme that will work well for him, I’m favouring the purple and green combo which gives him a ’toxic’ look and will make him stand out more when against the blue water

In this video you'll see how some characters developed and changed during the concept stages.
Apologises for the slightly lower quality, I find it easier to create concept art on the iPad, the bonus being that it will record my work, but it seems to give quite a low quality video. I'll see if I can fix that for future speed paints or swap to my PC.

Both characters now have IK for their feet thanks to the magic of the IKinema Plugin! This will not only be useful for little details like this, we are currently working on changing the characters to that they look at items of importance and NPCs. This will also help with climbing on ladders by snapping the characters hands to the rungs!
