The Duel

Both of them had known that only one would walk away. This was protocol, and appropriate. For her part she didn't care which of them died, and it gave her no joy to be the one who had survived, but one of them was dead, and this too was appropriate, and as it should be.

Their training made it possible for them to put up a fierce fight, and many defenders died in a brief but furious exchange of bullets. It didn't matter. Within seconds of their boots boots hitting sand all the CIA Commandos were dead. They died bravely for an objective they'd been told was a matter of global security.

Where I've Been

Some of you may have noticed that I've not posted anything here for several weeks. I see no reason to conceal the fact that I suffer from fairly severe depression which, when it comes on full force generally sees me to the bottom of a bottle or the end of a needle (or both), so that's where I've been the last few weeks. Right here doing exactly fuck all. Anyway I'm done with it (for now), and back to work. I do feel a bit badly about not having got much done in the last two weeks so I'll try ...
