Hello, it's been a while since the last update. There's not much to say other than the fact that I've been making good progress on the development of Rainy Season (and I'm really hoping to get back to Inaka project soon, I'm so homesick from sunny environments).
I also plan on getting beta testers soon, mostly to patch up gameplay bugs and get general feedback but it'll be a while until I get everything set up so keep an eye on that.
Speaking of Rainy Season, it was feature...

A suggestion by Alex Vissaridis, let's talk about my reference collecting, research and concept art. We'll take a look at my reference collection folder and see what's inside.

There is one objective to finding my references. Find the mundane. Take a look at this google search below. ...

Hey hey. I had a really bad idea, to make Inaka project downloadable. Before you do so, please read the disclaimers.
- Performance issues! Not a lot of optimization is done. It's an export of exactly what I run in my Unreal editor and you will need a decent computer to run it.
- Everything is broken and in a really bad state. This is an older build of Inaka project and everything is subject to change and improve.
- It's only a small portion of the map. There ...

Edit: zip file contained the wrong files. Please redownload it!
Hello! I'm chipping away at Rainy season and it's playable to finish. I still have a lot of work, adding more interactables, performance optimization, and character animation. I don't know if I should do devblogs since it would spoil the majority of the game so perhaps when it's done.
In the meanwhile, please have some of my favorite assets. Have a look at the textures and terrible UV work. Usable for any project...

Welcome to the blog post where I reveal the biggest secret of how I set up my foliage. I'm partly kidding because it's actually quite simple, it's not really a secret and it's relatively easy to replicate. For this tutorial we will use Blender and Unreal Engine.
To make the tutorial 100% replicatable, we will use this resource for free tree meshes.

A smaller project, Tsuyu no Hi/Rainy Season is up on Steam for wishlists!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1094420/Rainy_Season/
It's been in development alongside Inaka Project for a while, but Tusyu will be a very short, less than 1 hour mini story.
The goal is to finish a more managable project since working on such a large project like Inaka project is a common pit...

I'm planning to take a long break this month due to burnout from school and overworking, leaving me in relatively poor health condition but before I go I'd like to showcase what stage the game is at right now.
Gameplay
The gameplay is functional...I say this because bad things happen when artists try to code and while it technically works, the code is messy. Everything is considered placeholder and I'm still at the prototyping stage.

There are a lot of ways to do water. It's one of the more diverse shaders in UE4 in terms of approach and there are countless tutorials on them. My water setup is pretty basic but I hope you find something interesting.

Let's begin by understanding how wate...

If you haven't seen it yet, I have a poll up for what game dev tutorial you would like to see
https://twitter.com/Inasa_Fujio/status/1116007640704921600
I'm planning to do all 3 and prioritize them by popularity. I really want to get the tutorial right and it will take time producing, so here are more screenshots in the meanwhile.

It has been a very humbling time for me. Things have been hectic and I spent lots of time thinking about my project. To put things into context, I was sitting at around 100 followers for a year. Things were calm, I had no pressure, and I was thankful for everyone that supported me. Within a week, I gained 15k followers, received a variety of offers for help and publishin...

It currently does not have a name, but my game project file is called Inaka Project, so that's what we'll call it for now.
It is about a post officer traveling the countryside of Japan delivering letters and talking to the locals. You will go through a main story and explore open areas as you desire. It had been a hobby project for about a year and it's still ...
