[QiB2] 49 — Forgiveness

I watched Lei freeze under my gaze, like a deer stuck in headlights. Seeing him with his injuries and torn clothes made me feel how stark the contrast had been from the arrogant bully the boy had been during my time in the sect.

I wasn’t sure what to say. Conflicting emotions swirled within me, and somehow, I could see the same happening within the boy. I’m sure he must’ve seen a lot of things change, after our battle. To him, to all of the cultivators, strength was the utmost val...

[RotD | B2] 27 — Blood Bond

It had taken an entire day for Noah to walk to the nearest village before he had been able to borrow a ride the rest of the way to Heartilia. He’d had to take a couple of stops to meditate with the bunny in his inventory. Even with shackles suppressing it the creature was a noticeable drain on his mana pool.

After arriving in the city at last, Noah had made his way across the city, before arriving at the Lord’s manner, crashing onto his bed as he’d slept the rest of the day away. ...

[QiB2] 48 — Lost

Yan Lei felt lost. He stood amidst a prairie, with a dirt path tracked with lines of cart wheels leading him on his way. He no longer even knew what the point of his journey was. His brother had asked him to inform Yan Yun of the Elder’s plans. The task was foolish, what could their cousin sister do? She’d intentionally left the sect and had no power or anything to her name, having lost her cultivation just like him, she was in no position to make any changes.

But if he didn’t fol...

[QiB2] 47 — A New Path

Yan Yun stared at Zu Ri, unable to believe her eyes. Just what was she doing here? And… why was she crying? Through her entire childhood, she had never seen Zu Ri cry. It was the knowledge she’d grown up with. Shadows did not cry, did not laugh, did not show emotion. She had tried, over and over to break past that wall within Zu Ri, desperate to gain a friend, but she had never truly succeeded.

It took Yan Yun a moment to snap out of her thoughts, as she walked closer. Her eyes note...

[QiB2] 46 — Ambush

For the first time in weeks, I had nothing left to do. Not for a lack of tasks, not at all. The development of more Drugnades, the setup for the production line of Qi crystals, the creation of cement for the wall, and the new cultivators all needed my input.

But that was all they needed. An input. All I had to do is look at things and add what I may want to change or adjust, and people would do so. And the more days that passed, the less I had to say.

Everything was going well, al...

[RotD | B2] 26 — How do I go back?

Noah looked at his menu in anticipation raising an eyebrow when he heard the sound of drumroll.

Rolling… successful!
Critical Roll!

1 x [Cloak of Shadows (Legendary)] obtained!

His eyes widened in surprise as he burst out in laughter at the reward. A moment later, after calming himself, Noah opened his quest rewards to look at the tome he’d obtained from clearing the nest.

[QiB2] 45 — Lurking Shadows

One week ago.

Zu Ri moved rapidly through the grasslands. Qi burned through her pathways, dark shadows swiftly moving around her body as she made her way through the dark of the night. Scouting was near impossible with any form of scrying or anything else all around the area of Taizhou so ultimately she had to rely on going to the location physically.

The grass swayed gently as she moved like a whisper under the starry skies. The light of the moon was dim and they shadows...

[RotD | B2] 25 — A Bloody Battle

Noah watched the creature looking at him with intent eyes, its nose sniffing the air. He felt trouble reconciling the threat he felt from his instincts with the creature he saw in front of him.

The bunny moved closer, eyes intently staring at Noah. For a moment, Noah wondered if the creature was friendly. Then it opened its mouth, revealing sharp fangs as the air rippled visibly with a roar.

You’ve heard [Draconian Roar].
You’ve partially resisted the effect.

Schedule Changes

Hey folks! So, I've got an update on the schedule. For a short while, Rise of the Devourer will be slowing down to one chapter a week. The change will last till I've completed the second book of The Laws of Cultivation, which will take a few weeks to maybe a month to do.

I'll post one more chapter of Devourer this week, before we'll shift to the weekly schedule of a chapter every Monday.

Qi readers can expect a bunch of chapters soon, I'll be making my way through 30-4...

[RotD | B2] 24 — All the Loot

Heading down, Noah soon watched the dirt path be taken over by wild growth, as he walked through the forest, trying to steer himself. It wasn’t a particularly difficult task, given the trail of destruction left behind. Even the vegetation was thinning, being torn to shreds by whatever resided here. He had to rely on Tony to keep his sense of smell under control, as his new senses had quickly started to overwhelm him.

Noah kicked a corpse aside, feeling the blood and guts clinging to h...

[RotD | B2] 23 — Monster Hunting

After a brief search, Noah had found his way to the adventurer’s guild in the city. The building was rather hard to miss, once he knew what he was looking for. Stepping in, Noah watched the doors open up automatically for him. The temperature inside was a pleasant cool, with a fragrant scent filling the area.

Noah watched as people of all kinds and species walked around. The guild was much larger when compared to Windrest, with multiple reception counters present at the front, lines f...

[Rotd | B2] 21 — Next Steps

Noah stared at Vix in surprise. A chime played in his mind, but he put the notification aside for later.

“Which god?” Noah asked.

“No one knows,” Vix said, leaning back. “Gods aren’t supposed to die in the first place. They’re immortal in the true sense. Kill one, and a new avatar will pop up in its place. They won’t have the previous avatar’s memories or personalities, but it will still be the same god,” Vix said, licking her lips.

“What do you plan to...

[RotD | B2] 20 — Chain Breaker

Noah made his way through New Heartilia, crossing over the bridge as he walked to the other half of the city. Over the past two weeks, his visits to the Pit had become part of the routine, and he even had a nickname in the arena now.

The guard let him through the gates without question, not that they needed to. The last time he had been stopped, he’d let them know that his teleport was not restricted by whatever wards they may have put upon the place.

The evenings were when the ...

[RotD | B2] 19 — A New Routine

Noah made his way back out of Old Heartilia. The security for crossing over in this direction was a lot harsher, but Noah was let through without much problems.

As he walked across the bridge separating the two halves of the city his mind remained on Snow, and everything he had seen in the Pit. If he wanted to keep his promise to the girl, he would need to find a method to break that collar and a place for her to stay. There would be no point if all he did was free her and then abandon ...

[QiB2] 44 — Scholarly Duties

Work consumed my life since I gathered the villagers. Arranging for training people, calling for those who had touched upon Chi, and sending them to Yan Yun. Working with those that I thought would be able to work with spirit herbs and sending them to Granny Lang and Yin, and then coming up with the designs for the production line for the Qi crystals.

The days had flown by in a blur. It had been almost ten days since the tribulation had happened, and my work had only grown with time. Sl...

[RotD | B2] 18 — It's what I do

Noah was escorted by the guards to a chamber below the Pit. Stone walls were reinforced with thick slabs of rocks, with guards stationed at intervals. Noah saw multiple chambers, looking almost like prison cells, most were empty, but some had people or things inside of them.

Reaching the end of their pathway, the guard grunted for Noah to walk in. Giving a light knock, Noah waited a few moments for the door to open up.

“Who is it? I told you not to disturb me for a few ...

[QiB2] 43 — A New Order

A surprise greeted me as I woke up the next morning. As I had been shaking off my sleep, still recovering from the injuries of the tribulation I’d felt a new presence walking around the village. Feeling curious to find a new cultivator I began to follow. The Path took me to the village head’s house, and as my concern grew, I found myself standing in front of a shocked Yin.

“L-Lu Jie?” she stammered, looking me up and down to make sure she hadn’t seen a ghost.

[QiB2] 42 — Mortal Core

Yin had spent the last few days coming to terms with a brand new world. All her life, she had known the difference between mortals and cultivators.

Either you were blessed with Qi, or you weren't. Such was the nature of her world.

Yet now, that world was shattering, and Yin felt like she was trapped in a storm. She could feel Qi now. Or… Chi? She did not understand the difference. To her, all of it were the workings of the heavens and cultivators, not something a mortal like her...

[RotD | B2] 16 — Big Boss of the Pit

The Pit was both an easy and hard place to find. Hard because Noah had to walk through thin alleyways and go through shady looking places until he found a door with no symbol or signs to denote anything. Easy, because once you knew where to look, it was hard to mistake the giant structure.

The pit was a dome carved beneath the earth, with seats of earth forming a viewing arena, inside of which warriors would fight each other to the amusement of their audiences. There were no real safety...

[RotD | B2] 15 — The Modern Leisures of Magic

Noah walked out of the giant gates of the Lord’s castle, finding himself standing on a giant path paved with neatly carved stones and concrete pathways. Lamplights stood at intervals, oddly Victorian in their design, but the lamp itself shimmered with magic runes running up its length, betraying its nature.

Noah took in the sights, watching carriages move past him without any animals drawing them as they left a trail of mana behind their paths. Taking the footpath, Noah took in the si...

Update on Health

Hey folks. I'm really sorry about the delay. It turns out that I hadn't fully recovered, even though the actual being sick part went away. Been dealing with a lot of exhaustion, and sleeping over 12 hours. Went to check and it turns out I lost over 3 Kgs in less than 10 days so that figures.

I'll be trying my best to come back and get back into the writing, but it'll take me just a couple days more. Thank you for your patience, and I'm really sorry about the delay.
