here's a little fun process vid to show the steps it took to get this final scene! i completed a style test (took like 2 weeks!!) and now i'm gonna do an asset test (testing props against the BG- still haven't figured that out), and then i'm gonna head into making all the backgrounds.

Ok, things are starting to go into production! here's a glimpse into how i'm organizing my production sheet. i'm using my old Bang! Bang! sheet as a base and changing it to fit the needs of this new film.

style test WIP // film

working on this style test, which seems like it'll be a completed background. i tried making it lined but i just really prefer a lineless look. i'm not sure how moving props will look within the context of this background, so my next scene test will be a scene where a prop (probably clothes) will be sitting on the background before she handles the asset.

the plant is really distracting so i made it smaller, but i'm still not sure how i feel about the way it looks so i'll try to play wit...

here is the VERY bare-bones first pass animatic of my film! I made a super janky scratch track, I'm still working on the timing. Also working on getting someone to make the score so I can better time the scenes to the music. Sorry about some of the blue text getting lost! Hope you can still read it.

There are a few scenes that are one-off costume changes, so to make things more streamlined, i designed the costume in the special pose she will be in. Next step is what i've been avoiding most- beginning to see what the background style will look like!

Chose a final outfit! She'll try this on at the beginning and then that's the one she ends up wearing. Second image is some variations when I was trying to decide. I know y'all didn't vote for this one but i liked it best and felt like it encompassed her personality best!

turn & special poses // FILM

completed the turnaround, expressions, and a few special poses/costume callouts! this week has been very hectic! i still have a few most costume callouts & special poses- but once that's complete, i'll be done with character design.

I'll post an animatic later, once I get a scratch track in and clean up some of the action. But for now, here's the janky drawings for my storyboards lol. I never put too much care into them because I get what I'm trying to do- but if I was collaborating with others I would definitely have to give it another pass to make it clear!

Hmm, not sure if i'm happy with some of these scenes, but it's a general idea of the direction i'm going, so i'm going to move on to costume design. I didn't end up making changes to the boards, i'm gonna go ahead and pretend i'm happy with them lol. this idea is just a little dumb film to get me back into things and it's not the last film i make so i'm keeping that in mind- because if not i wouldn't be able to move forward because i would want to perfect everything!

colour script WIP // FILM

Here's how I started my colour script. Got my references at the top of my file and am working with the polygonal lasso tool so I don't get caught up in details and can focus on overall shapes and colour. I want the film to start in golden hour and finish at night, orange to blue. So I made the script a gradual transition to nighttime.
