I had initially struggled with colors because I didn't know how to decline Neuvillette's blue parts in a "yellow" environment... I started with a greenish tint because I thought blue + yellow = green but I later reflected on how the predominant color wasn't yellow but orange...
Bear with me - this orange was the result of yellow light on brown furniture, and what is brown but dark red? So I tilted the blue to purple and it fit so much better!

EDIT: color test pages added!!
Aaah I struggled a lot with colors here! The background I picked is low contrast which made me trouble a bit finding the right intensity and colors for shadows, but I'm pretty happy with the final outcome~
Can't wait to show you the comic!! Hopefully I'll make it for Fri/Sat!!

This artwork has a weird genesis... it started with "omg I'm so inspired, let's go" until the lineart , went through a "omg it's all wrong" and ended with a "did I fix it or made it worse?"
My struggle has initially been with colors - I didn't balance properly the yellow and green amount in the flat colors and rim light layers, then tried to fix it by adding to the shadows a blue tint and an *insane* amount of adjustments to correct luminosity, contrast, value...

This may be one of my favorite paintings of the past half year! I often say how I want to find a painting style which doesn't completely cover the linework, but this one I purposely wanted to try and paint over the lines... only to realize it doesn't satisfy me as much as expected - comparing this with other recent painting I found out how I like both the process and the look of those illustrations where the linework stays and helps the reading of shapes and composition!
You can see the difference between the Settphel and Ittorou/Rhaayn - the latter...

I doodled some of your requests from this month's form!
I did these during my warm-up sessions before painting(drawing some illustrations I had already planned and it's fun to see how the brush strokes and different levels of detail reflected my mood of the day haha

I've recently found renewed joy in painting with a coloring process closer to the one I used for illustrations all my 2022 and beyond illustrations, until I started experimenting with different options starting April 2023...
