"I don't want to be rude, but can you please take a few steps back?" Hera turned to the royal chef.
"Sorry, I just want to know how to make that dish."
"And I'm teaching you, but I need some space to work. It already sucks that I have to work on my knees. You stepping over my legs doesn't help."
"You are the first human to ever use the kitchen. It's not my fault you are struggling," the chef crossed his arms.
Hera smiled, "That's fine, but unless you want to try cookin...

"Can you keep going?" Blue asked.
"I'm not sure. Those things are starting to hurt," Hera was covered in wounds and cuts.
The griffons weren't able to deal any significant damage to the humans, but the dozens of monsters were finally overwhelming them. A storm of talons and beaks targeted every part of their bodies. Hera did her best to heal the wounds, but it quickly became clear that she didn't have enough mana to heal all the cuts. Gusts of winds tried to hinder their movement,...

"Hera, can I sleep with you?" Blue's voice came from the door.
"That nightmare again?"
"Yeah…"
"Grab a blanket from the chest and come to bed," Hera said without even opening her eyes.
"Why?"
"You're a cover hog. I don't want to wake up freezing in the middle of the night again."
"Oh.."
Blue walked over the chest by the foot of the bed and picked another blanket before laying down beside Hera. The explorer took one arm out of the covers and hugged h...

Time seemed to slow down. The dust fell like snow through the field. A green gust of wind flew towards its target, and then a snap. Two bodies moved through the air. They flailed around almost like ragdolls. When the large brown eyes meet with Alex's, the time seemed to speed up once more.
"Hera!" the assassin cried.
Ruvna laughed, "Next time, use humans and not rocks. They fly funny," the kobold commander said to his troops.
"Fucking asshole!" Alex dashed towards the kobold...

It took just 10 minutes to arrive at the location of the firework. A couple of Wooly Rams appeared during that time, but not one of the mountain variations showed up. According to Sevaris, this was normal, the two types of sheep would rarely be seen together, and the rams even fought against each other. Since the other team already had cleaned up the area, the monsters were nowhere to be seen.
When they meet up with the other team, Naka quickly got a report. The Plains Sheep was waiting...

Blue walked towards the cow-sized sheep. The monster was looking to the side, munching on some grass without a care in the world. Hera pulled her chakram and activated her [Hide]. It's not like it wouldn't help her just because there was nothing to hide behind. As long as her target didn't see her, the bonus effects would still work. She gathered a poison needle in her hand but let it fade before tossing it. She wasn't sure if using poison against the monsters could affect the meat they dropp...

"What?" Hera asked. They were having breakfast before heading to the guard. Today was the day they would finally go inside the dungeon. Hera wanted to understand how long it would take for them to b...

Hera took a peek at the restaurant near the headquarters. Just like Silah said, the place was very loud and full of people. The moment someone noticed her, everyone stopped to stare at the human. That made Hera almost run away.
"I guess I'm still news for everyone here. Maybe I should just go home," Hera mumbled.
She walked through the street, heading back to her place, but a loud clanging noise distracted her. Looking to the side, she noticed the forge with a dozen boxes all spre...

"So, did you find anything out today?" Hera asked.
"Just that people here don't talk about their relationships openly. I asked if Sevaris was dating anyone, and he got all weirded out when I asked. Later he asked me to join him in the break room, and there he told me he is courting someone but didn't give any more details. Well.. details about him. At least," Blue sighed, "These people are going to love reality TV. He spent half an hour gossiping about everyone. Who is dating who, where...

Ever since she was a little kid, Silah was considered strong. Growing up in a house filled with blacksmiths, she held up her first hammer before taking her first step. The techniques of her family were passed down to her, and at the age of 12, she made her first sword. When she was 16, she could make a breastplate with her eyes closed. However, despite being called a genius and the master of a generation, Silah had other plans. Living in a city where no one could leave meant that everyone kne...

Naka was standing in the middle of the guard's training grounds. All dwarves present gathered to watch the combat. It was a rare occasion to have the captain facing someone in battle. Hera looked around, searching for training equipment, but only saw stone staffs like the one Naka was using or stone swords. There was no handaxe or chakram for her to use.
"Do you guys have training axes here?" Hera asked, not wanting to hurt the captain by accident during the duel. Naka had taken off her...

Blue cried herself to sleep. She took a small break to eat, but even during the meal, her tears didn't stop. Hera slept in the same bed with her, but she was the first to wake up. Not wanting to disturb Blue, she slowly got up and headed to the kitchen. The bed was incredibly soft, but the height of the ceiling was odd. The dwarves had houses that were close to double their size, but for humans, that made houses way too big.
It was still very early in the morning. Hera checked the food ...

The meeting was long and drawn out. There were a lot of formalities and pointless pleasantries. In a way, it felt almost like watching one of those political dramas about lords and ladies. Apparently, Rutigan had pushed the human situation to be the last thing on their schedule. It was an attempt to show them how they worked as a society and what they could expect from the kingdom. However, that backfired. Hera and Blue only felt that this was worse than the outside world politics, or at leas...

Rutigan listened to the entire story. Naka kept staring angrily at the humans the entire time while Ogryn listened to their tale intently, asking about certain details now and then. When the story was over, Rutigan turned to his old mentor, who nodded in reply.
"Their story is very similar to Weston's. There doesn't seem to be anything off with it. Although, the fact that she went up the mountain and survived is nothing short of a miracle. Not that I can detect any lies in what they sai...

Since it would take at least one week for Blue to get better and the humans had no place to stay in the city, Risli offered them to stay in the infirmary. At least while there were enough free beds, if, at some point, many injured people arrived, she would have to use the space. The news of humans arriving in the city spread like wildfire, and in front of the shaman's hut, there always were at least two dozen dwarves trying to take a peek at the visitors.
Risli explained why it was such...

Hera and Blue were led to a stone hut close to the farmlands. In all respects, it looked like the house of a witch from a fairy tale. The roof was crooked, and the stone on top curled like a witch's hat. The hut was covered in different colored moss with some glow-in-the-dark mushrooms spread around it.
Wothur opened the door, "Risli! Where are you, woman?"
Hera stared at the dwarf, hoping this was not the type of treatment that they would receive.
"What the hell do you want...

It took close to half an hour for Hera to return to the cave. She kept looking around for things to make a sled. There were plenty of branches and twigs for her to grab, but nothing that could be used to tie them up together. Hera also had no clue on how to make an actual sled with the materials at hand. Since that wasn't...

Hera walked up for around 10 minutes. She stopped a few times and tried to speak to test the echo, but had to give up and look for a better spot. The excessive carefulness was all in fear that an avalanche would happen during her talk with the guide. After arriving at an area with another group of trees, Hera called out to Blue, testing the echo and if the controller could hear her. A few moments passed, she received no reply, and there was no sound coming from the mountain. Hera took a deep ...

Hera suddenly felt cold. The disparity from the warm glow of the transfer was like jumping into the ocean right after a hot bath. Before anything, she looked back, trying to see if Blue came along. The controller was still there, just as she was before the transfer. Passed out, but still alive. Right now, even the heat coming from her body had vanished. Hera understood she was in yet another cave with a quick glance, but pale sunlight came from a corner.
Hera crouched on the ground to a...

Hera didn't know how long she would last. She could already feel the heat increasing together with the awful smell of sulfur that burned her nose, not to mention the exhaustion trying to take over. It had been close to fifteen minutes since she has been following the twisting path. Her legs were barely keeping up, but stopping wasn't an option. Looking up, she realized that the wall by her left was already 13 meters tall. Even if she decided to run away now, there was no coming back. She look...

It all happened too fast. Hera saw the wind blade leaving Alex's dagger, and the next moment, she was already flying through the air. The next thing she remembered was waking up on the ground, with her entire body aching. She tried to get up when a loud thunder roared above her, making Hera cover her ears with her hands. The movement made her palms sting. Some cuts and scratches were covering her hands, but they seemed to be slowly healing. It seemed like Alan had placed a new barrier on her ...

The storm had finally passed, although dark clouds still covered the sky. The Wolves' army had a significant number of casualties, but their desire to fight didn't falter. With each fallen member of the clans, the rage that drove them was only pushed further. This wasn't a war about honor, or justice, or even territory. What compelled them to attack was pure hatred, an unrelenting desire for revenge.
Hera was on the left side of the army, together with her team and the group of kobolds....

Hey everyone!
To celebrate one year since the novel started, I commissioned a brand new cover art from a fantastic artist.
I wanted to post this together with chapter 200, but there were some details that I forgot to check, and fixing them took a little time, but here we are!
Before anything else, let me give praise where praise is due. The artist is LiaArt, and her skills speak for themselves. She takes commissions if anyone wants art for a project or just...

Hera's skills didn't increase during the first day, and even with Rose's help, she wasn't able to figure out the rebalance skill. When dinner time came, Hera had sharpened 78 weapons, while Rose got 94 rebalanced. That increased the effectiveness of the entire army while reducing some of the Dragon Kin morale. It was funny how even small things would affect morale. It was understandable that breaking siege weapons and revealing the traps had some effect, but sharpening weapons? Would the Drag...

The group avoided talking while retreating from their attack. Hera was taking up the rear with the Omega mages. She was worried about what Alex could end up doing. She was way too aggressive when fighting the kobolds. It was clear that she wasn't in the right mood to be fighting. They moved towards the rest of the Wolves of the Night. Looking to the side, Hera could see the canine kobolds rushing towards the Dragon Kin army. They weren't able to move forward while the ballistas were still fun...

Arrows fell from the sky, pelting the land with their iron edges. Thunder and lightning crackled through the sky, covering the cries of the wounded warriors. Small fiery explosions covered the ground, leaving patches of flaming land that could melt a kobold in an instant.
The Dragon Kin crossbows had a much smaller range than the Wolves of the Night's longbows. That forced them to stay behind cover while the Wolves rushed through the battlefield. The canines started to move forward whil...

Hera and Rose stopped by every single clan, and by the end, Hera never wanted to ride a wolf again. The high speed and weird movement of its body made her feel nauseous. Riding a horse could be bumpy, but at least it was a constant motion. The wolf would keep shifting the way it ran. At times it would be as smooth as a car, and others, it was worse than being in a boat during a storm.
"Do we need to do this every day?" she turned to Rose.
"Yep, if not, we don't get the update on t...

During the briefing, Alan and Rose explained that in a normal run, the kobolds would be hostile to the humans at first and treat them as a bother after joining the army. Only after the second day would their disposition change. That was only considering they reported to any kobold and were led towards the command tent. However, the team was now in the ancient chieftain's private quarters. This was a trick that Alan learned from an explorer a few months ago. However, it was a risky move. If th...

The briefing really didn't take long. Even though Hera's group was the only one who had yet to do the Wolves side of the dungeon, they understood what happened inside well enough to catch on quickly. Each day inside the battlefield would be split into three parts. In the morning, they would prepare for the combat. In the afternoon, there would be a large battle between the armies, and in the night, they would have the chance to sabotage the Dragon Kin camp. Unlike what it was when they helped...
