Once Hera opened her attribute sheet, she was able to see a whooping 132 points to spend. She used them to increase all her attributes by 3 using [Exponential Growth]. If it wasn't for that skill, increasing one single attribute would cost 18 points. Meaning that she was spending the equivalent of 2 attribute's worth to bump all of them by 1. It was still staggering to think about it. Even if people around her level could have one, and maybe two, attributes higher than the Empress, she was st...

With the fight over and us in a safe location, I turned my focus back into the System. The tier up quest was over and now I should be able to choose the class that was going to take me to tier 2.
'Okay Sys, lay it on me. What can I do now?'
[User has completed the Quest for reaching tier two. In addition, the fight against the Witch of the Silken Fortress also provided with a high amount of particles unrelated to the quest. However, System was able to gather said particles and imp...

Hera and Atlas watched as the whale grew darker and darker. It slowly stopped radiating bright light from its body and instead almost absorbed it. The more Filigree continued to heal the creature, the more the environment itself seemed to change.
Although calling it a creature might not be correct, since even now Hera was unable to use [Observe] on it. Still, she remained confident that this was the right way to go about it. Or at least one of the right ways. Her thoughts were only con...

It took very little to explain to the people of the village what happened. We basically just said that we found the spider nest and killed them all while rescuing everybody who we could. Then, we added that the witch used their resources to save those who they could save, but some didn't make it. And showed that we also brought the bodies of the ones that were already dead just so people could give them a proper burial.
Anyone who wasn't there, unfortunately, we made clear that they we...

Hera barely registered that she was entering a different place, mostly because of the sheer brightness of the light that hit her eyes. The only thing that made her realize that she was, indeed, going into a hidden dungeon was a notification that appeared in front of her. That kind of system notification would show up no matter the situation. Even if she was blinded, the system could still appear to her.

You have found the hidden dungeon Lighthouse ...

Wistra jumped towards Riley, trying to bite their head off. The witch's apprentice wasn't fast enough to move out of the way, but that wasn't the case for me. Using {Compression}, my staff slammed on the lumerin's head, causing it to topple to the side. I was expecting a decently sturdy blow, but it almost felt like my weapon hit a stone wall.
Sure, Wistra was pushed back, but so was I, only stopping when my staff hit the ground below. Astrid followed that up by t...

Hera continued to run along the field, with Atlas just a few meters behind. Both of them had some ability that allowed them to see things in this pitch-black darkness despite not being directly in contact with the lights coming from the fake lighthouses, or the real one since they had no clue if they were going in the right direction or not.
While the Empress could have her court and her Ophidianite sight to see in infrared to make sure nothing was in her way, Atlas could use the metal...

"A Lumerin?" I asked. "What exactly is that?"
"That is a complicated question. What would you say if someone asked you what is a human?"
I opened my mouth, but quickly closed it again. She wasn't entirely wrong. It would be very hard to explain what exactly is a human. But at the same time it felt like the type of thing that you should be able to tell or at least help explain if someone were to ask.
"But it's not like I don't have an answer for you. I just don't know if you'...

Hera pressed yes and Atlas followed her right away, both of them entering the dark lighthouse dungeon. But unlike the name suggested, the entrance of the place was anything but dark.
They were in a room where a blinding white light was shining through, covering pretty much everything. And now, Hera was able to see the world in that black and white shade, as did Atlas. For inside the dungeon, no other color existed. Even looking down, even calling her court or casting a spell didn'...

"Riley?" the figure asked with a gasp. Their voice was still that strange mix of a whisper with breathing difficulty, as if they were sick or had some trouble breathing. "I thought I told you never to come here. Never to travel beyond the fog."
Riley frowned while still being upside down as the spider was holding us in place. The web was no longer pulling up, but it was still attached to every single one of us.
"I don't know about any fog. The only thing close to it that I saw was...

Hera left the city right away. The Empress was riding Nimbus while the Atlas was using metal to carry him like a tank. He somehow was able to turn two pieces of metal into treads and then have a small seat for him to stay as they traveled. It was nowhere near as fast as the Sentinel since it was a very niche use of his legacy, but it worked and allowed them to move faster than they would on foot.
Hera was still a bit worried about the man's presence. Even though she took Helena's advice...

We slowly moved down, looking for the spiders that we were assuming were here. We knew for a fact that they had been here at some point since the entire place was covered in webs. But it was almost impossible to be sure if they really were still here or not. At least, that was our initial thought as we were climbing down the staircase. But it didn't take long for signs of those creatures to be pretty much everywhere.
There was some skittering and some movement below, in addition to a fe...

They gathered all the equipment and prepared to send Atlas outside to install the wendigo detection system on the antenna of the tower. There was a hatch near the ceiling that would open and drop a set of stairs as if it was an entrance to an attic. Outside, there were also some handles and places for people to use clamps and rope to avoid falling down if they were working outside of the watchtower.
Then again, it had been a while since those handles were used. This room got more inter...

With the right way to deal with the poison available to us, we rushed back to the village. But at the same time, Riley was stopping us and pointing to various plants that we should gather during our small trip. While they did have a good amount of supplies for the poison, they wanted more just to be sure that no one was going to be left without any medicine. And that was the only delay, as the Witch was also making those pills as we moved. And while they had the skill to create that medicine ...

Hera double checked everything with Queen Typhera and then left for room in question. The one where various cattle were vanishing in the middle of the night. No one had figured out what was going on and, according to all reports, the vanishings were slowly starting to increase. But now, they had another tool to use for the investigation. And that was Helena's wendigo detection device.
And like the heartbeat Queen explained, it took a couple of days for the empress to arrive at the room....

Hera was in her bedroom, back in Zaxalam. In the same house that was gifted to her dad once he moved to the MAZE. They were living together ever since that happened, although calling that living together might not be completely accurate. After all, Hera spent more time away from this place than she spent here. That was mostly due to the fact that things kept happening that forced her to stay out of this place. But at the same time, it didn't mean that she didn't have a room here. A proper bed...

We waited near the house, taking a moment to rest and eat. People seemed to be upset with us for not rushing after the spiders right away, but I explained that the Witch was really tired. The best excuse I could give was that Riley had spent most of the night working on some potion and we interrupted her sleep. This was why we had to give her time to rest before we could continue doing what we were doing.
In the meantime, Astrid and Michael would be watching over the perimeter of the vi...

Hera stood a few moments in front of the door, trying to identify what it was. She knew that she had another option, but she went to first see if she could figure out things by herself. There was really not a point in always going for the quick answer. After all, that wouldn't allow her to learn and identify things on her own. But, if needed, she could use her relic.
She took a few steps away from the door and let her Mana flow through the air. There was no spell being cast; it wa...

We quickly asked about the location of the Witch and got a few answers. Like we had come to know, the Witch was living on the opposite side of the village. Not from the direction that we came from. In order to find her, we should follow the purple flowers on the trees. That was something that was passed out to the people of the village for a while already.
We did try to get someone to take us there, since it would be easier to move with a guide. But unfortunately, there wasn't anyone. ...

Even though Hera couldn't exactly dive deep into Deakoshara, that didn't mean she couldn't do anything. In fact, once they arrived at the Naga homeland again, Nimbus quickly received the Royal Quest, which would allow him to explore the sky around the lake. He went off on his own, much like what happened a long time ago in the Abyssal Deep. And Hera just stayed behind, waiting for his return. Although this time, she didn't stay still. She kept following along with what was happening, using he...

The spiders that we saw coming from the houses were not as big as the one that we fought against. Or, at least, most of them weren't. There were about six of varying sizes, all trying to grab or eat people. Then again, it was hard to tell their actual intention in a situation like this.
Hearing everybody scream and everybody run made me have some flashbacks of the attack in my village. That moment during the rainy night when everyone that I ever knew was killed. Almost everyone. I froz...

On the day that Shane left with the others to visit Spiral, Hera had scheduled a meeting to go over some of the bureaucracy related to being a hero. There were a couple of events that they wanted her opinion on. Things that they wanted to advertise as being endorsed by the aspirant hero. Like it or not, in this day and age, publicity was a big part of the job.
After they were done with that conversation, the empress also asked something that had been bothering her for a while. "You migh...

Despite my paranoia, the night was peaceful. The three men who introduced themselves after walking into the icebox just fell asleep right away. Their names were Aaron, Peter, which made me think of my one surviving kid from my class, and the wounded one was called Terrence. The light of our bonfire helped to see that the three were white with scruffy hair and various lengths of beard, with Terrence being the one with the shortest one and Aaron having the longest one.

After leaving the lake and getting enough distance between the waters and herself, the Empress stopped and asked Filigree to activate the [Gates of Mana] on her. The skill worked as it did before the title blade became part of the court. However, Filigree herself had a bit more control over the size or positioning of the trap. What she couldn't control was the actual riddle. That was still something that was simply created, not made by her. As a matter of fact, the Weaver would only be able t...

Once the Empress called her court, all of its members appeared by her side. Not just the title blades, but the regular blades as well. They were all floating around her, ready to fight. The Ophidianite wasn't worried because the monster in front of her was powerful. Strictly speaking, its level shouldn't be something that would cause any problems for her.
The problem was the monster's element. Poison. It wasn't just regular poison, but the same poison that existed in the lake. The same...

After leaving Spokane behind, we continued traveling west with renewed energy. There were a couple reasons for that. First, the biggest energy drain of our group was no longer there. Pamela had finally been left behind. I understood that was my fault, and it was a mistake. I didn't have any problems admitting that. But I still was glad that she was no longer around. Second, we started to realize that we were getting very close to the shore. And that was exactly what all we were hoping for.

With the Cube of Reversal in hand and having made another test using her own poison and another version of the altar that Bob had created, Hera went back to Deakoshara. She was ready to finally start solving the problem in the lake. Not trying to be overly optimistic, but she was feeling really good about the situation. There was a poison rain covering that part of the room, and it stood to reason that by getting rid of a lake of poison, the rain would go back to normal.

We returned to the Village guided by our escort. At the very least, they were all very nice. Their leader was the only one who was a prick about everything. Astrid was also having some time in the spotlight as they kept asking about her training regiment. And once she answered with a simple phrase, 'cutting wood,' all the men behaved differently.
