[Tree] Chapter 30: Talking Tree

Ashlock wanted to intervene in the fight, but Maple had been firmly against it, shaking his little head and smacking his branch whenever he felt Ashlock's Qi's flow toward his roots.

Ultimately, this was a wise decision as Ashlock saw Diana help Stella stand on her feet, and neither girl seemed terribly hurt.

As the two discussed, Ashlock thought about how disastrous it could have been if he had unleashed his skill on one of them. "I must remember that my {Devour} skill only stops...

[Tree] Chapter 29: Stella's Return

Stella had a skip in her step as she went up a winding dirt path that led to the base of Red Vine peak. Stella's hands lazily swung as she looked up at her home that was so close. The titanic mountain dominated the skyline, with fluffy white clouds obscuring the pavilion built thousands of meters up on its peak.

A part of her wished to rush back, but after spending a year slaughtering beasts out in the wilderness, the last thing she wanted to do was ruin this brief moment of calm.

[Tree] Chapter 28: Heart Demons

{Root Puppet [B]} was a rather odd skill. From the initial snippet of information provided by the system, Ashlock summarized that it was basically necromancy but worse in every way—but if there is one thing he had learned through his life with the system was not to underestimate its skills.

"It should allow me to control a corpse like a puppet." Ashlock could already think of many applications, such as a possible way to communicate.

"Right. Step one is to get a ...

[NB] 77. Frostlands (Actual Start of Book 2)

Angry shouts echoed within a grand room stripped bare of everything extravagant—only creaking wooden benches that lined a molding table remained in the freezing room. A fireplace vainly attempted to heat the enormous throne room with a few coals and scraps of wood, but it was doing a poor job.

A gruff dwarf hit the table with a balled fist and a deep-set scowl on his aged face. "Princess, I declare on behalf of the miners guild of the Frostlands that we are on strike until this famine...

[Tree] Chapter 27: Heaven's Wrath

[Upgrade Complete - Deactivating Sleep Mode]

Ashlock awoke to a raging storm—freezing rain pelted his scarlet leaves and drummed on the pavilion's black wood roofs while turbulent winds made his branches sway. Lighting flickered through the clouds above, followed by thunder so deafening it made the entire mountain tremble.

Relishing in the storm for a second, Ashlock looked at the clouds above in a daze. His body felt all kinds of wrong, it was like he had been ...

[Tree] Chapter 26: Ascension

A dense mist blanketed the courtyard as over ten water clones of Diana emerged with sinister smiles.

Mike reacted instantly, creating an area around him that froze the mist—transforming it into snow that swirled around him, eventually forming a blizzard. White flames drifted from his hands and joined the torrent, creating a seemingly impenetrable wall around him of snow and flames. His eyes darted around, and he held his sword in a ready position across his chest.

[Tree] Chapter 24: New Neighbours

Diana was confused... but the pieces were coming together. Slowly but surely, the odd setup of Red Vine peak was beginning to make sense. Of course, the demonic spirit tree was the center of all this nonsense.

How had it grown so fast over two days? The runic formation clearly played a role—the ambient Qi surrounding the tree was absolutely ridiculous. It rivaled some of the secret realms she had visited in the past.

There was also a horrifying thought. What if the tree had ...

[Tree] Chapter 23: Suspicion

Diana trudged into the central courtyard and seemed to be eyeing Ashlock wearily. Her brows were furrowed as if the sight of him baffled the badly beaten and bruised cultivator. She circled him a single time, eyes narrowed and dragging her feet with every step. Eventually, she flopped down to the grass beside the tree, crossed her legs, and began cultivating after swallowing a few pills.

A while passed with nothing happening, and Ashlock let out a nonexistent breath he didn't know he wa...

[Tree] Chapter 22: Nascent soul

Diana knew a secret. One nobody else in the Ravenborne family was privy to, including the other family elders. Even her deceased elder brother never learned of this secret as the man—her father—had gone to extensive lengths to keep the truth of his cultivation a secret.

Her old man, the Grand Elder of house Ravenborne, was not a mere Star Core realm cultivator... instead, he had secretly ascended to the realm above and was now a Nascent Soul.

But he had only ascended this year...

January Plans

Hey everyone, I plan to launch my novel Reborn as a Demonic Tree on RoyalRoad sometime between the 7th and 10th of January. (Exciting!!!)

I used scribblehub as a place to beta test the novel, and you may have noticed Patreon is only around 2-3 chapters ahead. I naturally will not be able to build up the promised 15-chapter backlog in the next week, and I don't want to launch my new novel on RoyalRoad with only a 2-chapter backlog... so here's my solution. (It's not a gr...

[Tree] Chapter 21: Transpiration of Heaven and Earth

Ashlock's consciousness snapped back to reality nearly instantly, as if he had suffered from a flashbang or a blow to the head. The air around him felt suffocatingly hot like a sauna turned up way too high—opening his nonexistent eyes, Ashlock saw the air shimmer from the heat alongside an insane abundance of Qi.

"Ugh... what happened?" Ashlock looked around and was amazed to see that most of the pavilion was still standing—even the runic formation surrounding him survived the fallo...

"Ugh, my head." Alice groaned as she sat up and massaged her temples, "What the hell happened?"

Victor blinked his many golden eyes in confusion. Alice was almost semi-translucent... was this what happened when a Mana Body was mana deficient? Similar to how humans go deathly pale due to blood loss? Victor could only wonder as he floated right beside her.

Seeing Alice was alive and well, Victor was relieved. "Welcome back to the land of the living." Victor joked before becoming mor...

[Tree] Chapter 20: Supernova

Throughout the intense flurry of attacks that decimated the surroundings, Ashlock believed the Winterwrath Grand Elder had the upper hand over the Ravenborne Grand Elder—which made the current situation more confusing. Within seconds the albino man lay on his back in a molten crater of blue fire with the tip of a black sword pressed against his neck.

The Ravenborne Grand Elder gritted his teeth as he attempted to push the blade down to decapitate the man, but the Winterwrath Grand Eld...

[NB] 75. The Undead of Necron

Hyveth had seen many things throughout her long life that had encapsulated the rise and fall of empires—but a man chopping off his own leg and giving it to the stubby three-fingered hand of a slime monster was definitely up there as a brow-raising moment.

Especially when the man now had no legs. He was just a torso, lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood, but there was a distinct lack of screaming that Hyveth had associated with weak mortals—just a nervous look as if the man ...

[Tree] Chapter 19: Peak of Power

Everyone seemed to pause and stare at the incoming calamity, even those supposedly on the same side as the new arrival. "Grand Elder Ravenborne!" The Winterwrath elder standing upon the titanic ice golem shouted—his words boomed for a thousand miles.

Ashlock knew the man's voice traveled that far since Ashlock's leaves rustled from his words, and he was two mountain peaks away.

The five balls of blue fire pelting down the Ravenborne mountain peak paused at the base, lea...

[Tree] Chapter 18: Winterwrath

Despite his numerous murders and consumption of human flesh, Ashlock couldn't help but feel outraged when he witnessed someone so indifferent to the death of an innocent stall owner. The sudden change in the attitude of the elderly man, who had previously disrespected cultivators, only served to highlight the backstabbing nature among the individuals of this world.

"Would Stella backstab me like that at the first opportunity?" Ashlock wondered as he curiously followed the green flame cu...

Hyveth Arcspace didn't seem amused by Victor's joke—she glared at him and blinked in disbelief at how such a massive void creature that had loomed over her could instantly vanish. Hyveth had seen stealth used many times in her long life, but even when invisible, the opponents would take up some space in reality. Hyveth didn't see things in only three dimensions. Instead, her inhuman crystal eyes could also see the depression in a gravitational field, allowing her to see invisible t...

[Tree] Chapter 17: Eye in the Sky

With the beginning of a new day, Ashlock's mind had somewhat calmed, and he could rethink his situation. He had been under the false pretense that he was safe in this courtyard. Nobody worked here, and apart from the Grand Elder visiting, there was only Stella here, and he had no issue with her taking his fruit whenever she wanted.

He had been naive, the equivalent of someone walking around a bad neighborhood flaunting excessive jewelry and then getting mad over being robbed as if it wa...

Her black clothes and mask had been left with the maids at the entrance, so the tomboyish girl walked through the hallways of her family's pavilion in skinny trousers that showed off her modest curves and a partia...
