This week's toy release is my own custom design for the proton pack accessory for vintage Kenner Ghostbusters figures. Only a handful of the original packs survived from my childhood - some missing the plastic stream, some with broken 'arm grips', some with busted back pegs. I wanted to give my old toys some new life with this 3D printable proton pack upgrade and correct a few of the 'design flaws' that are apparent in the original toys.
First - I wanted this pack to be...

I have to say: I'm digging some of the new Hasbro 'roleplay' Ghostbusters toys coming out for kids. In particular, I really like the Proton Blaster MOD. The blaster is a good size (slightly smaller than a 'full size' prop) and it has some decent sound effects and exchangeable parts that contribute to the play value.
One of the things it's missing? A way to hook it on to a pack!
Here, I adapted some of the custom V-hook parts I have been using in my other 3D printing projects to ma...

The Kenner Ecto-1 roof-mounted gunner seat allowed kids to position their favorite Ghostbuster on the roof and blast ghosts on the go. The upcoming Ghostbusters Afterlife movie introduces a new side-mounted gunner chair which looks like it'll lend itself to some really fun action sequences.
My 3D Printed 'Afterlife' Gunner Seat upgrade is a reimagined version for the original Kenner Ecto-1 toy but with an few twists from the new movie:
- Proton Pack sculpting on the seat back ...

Like many of you, I am thrilled to see new Ghostbusters toys hitting the shelves. I'm not much of a collector myself but I have the toys from my childhood and have picked up a few select items here and there (my son really wanted a Tombstone Tackle!)
However, many of the toy accessories I had as a kid are lost to the ether of the 80's.
I had the itch to design some 3D printable accessories for the vintage Kenner toys - including proton packs and traps. I also thought it w...

The 3D Printed CPS is designed as an expansion module that can be added to the Slime Blower Mark 2 module. Inspired by the Ghostbusters Video Game upgrade, these parts are designed to attach to a full-size movie-style Neutrona Wand.

The 3D printed Slime Blower Mark 2 is a set of upgrade modules designed to attach to a "full size" Neutrona Wand. My goal was to minimize the modifications needed to the base wand prop although you may need to be agile depending on what your base thrower is.

Recently, I have been upgrading a Ghost Trap with parts inspired by Ghostbusters: The Video Game. As the game progressed, you could upgrade the trap with prototype technology with a "Fast Trap" and "Slam Dunk". I created 3D Printable cosmetic additions that could be added to your Spirit Ghost Trap (or a similarly sized trap.

This past winter, I began creating upgrades and modifications to my movie props inspired by Ghostbusters: The Video Game. I really like the game and I consider it a proper "Ghostbusters III" with the team still in their prime and voiced by the original actors.
In the coming months, I will be preparing 3D printable files so others can create pack upgrades like the video game. This first upgrade is the "Slime Injection System" modification to the Proton Pack. This file se...

I recently upgraded my RGB Neutrona Wand with a new assembly for the "left side". This includes a new "angled extrusion" and a new side knob (image on top). This assembly is more accurate to what we see in the cartoon and it aesthetically balances out the thrower when you have the extended "dual knob" upgrade installed on the "right side".
The install was quite easy - after printing, I simply unscrewed the or...

The crazy thing about Proton Packs? They are never really finished. I recently created and installed a variation to my RGB proton pack bumper. It has more rounded features and details. It also has a more functional side clip for more securely holding the trap hose and pedal.
STL files are attached here!
This bumper variation is easily exchanged with the original bumper. The assembly is exactly the same as well! It makes for a straightforward install if you prefer the aest...

Here are some notes for a simple Arduino project that gives you some lights on the 3D Printed RGB Gizmo. The 3D printed main body can comfortably house various electronic components including an LCD screen, broadboard, Nano and lights. Since my props are mostly for personal display, I use a rather "temporary" setup with jumper wires and breadboard that allows me to adjust things to my fancy.
On this pos...

Every so often, a member of the Ghostbusters community will message me on Instagram with images of a build they completed with my RGB-inspired files. I have seen some amazing builds - some I am quite envious of!
Whenever someone shares their work, I like to highlight them on my Instagram account with the builders permission.
If you have built or remixed of any of the projects available here - including traps, wands, packs, goggles, gizmos, and PKEs - I would b...

Greetings Patrons! After taking some time off, I've put together this guide to installing some custom Proton Pack light electronics suited to the 3D Proton Pack files. An Arduino Nano is used to control the light sequences of the lights. Additionally, there are several models that can be toggled by the push buttons: Reverse polarity will reverse the order of the light sequences. Overload will accelerate the blinking speed.
The code for the Arduino is provided in the download so you can ...

Some patrons have been asking how I went about mounting the 3D printed shell to a motherboard with shoulder straps, etc. I used a fairly common and low-tech method which is based on how most folks mount their movie-style packs.
The movie packs have an outbound ALICE frame that attaches to an aluminum plate "motherboard". If you watch the cartoon, you'll notice that the pack straps are embedded right into the back. Functionally, I felt that the cartoon-style approach wo...

Here is another exclusive release of the Proton Pack files as we approach our first goal! As "official" RGB technical information eludes me, I am calling this middle section the "regulator" and am theorizing that these modules are responsible for managing and maintaining the power state between the power cells, generator, and cyclotron in the RGB proton pack.
I hope you enjoy continuing your pack build with these files!

These 3D print files are designed be traded in from the knob provided in the original 3D Printed Neutrona Wand files and instructions.
