The character updating has been moving (relatively) fast with the newer setup, so I'm experimenting with putting more of them together rather than spamming with posts every couple of days. It's not 100% running on all cylinders - still need to install some more programs, get my settings worked out, etc - but the new PC is up and running, and 3D content is at least mostly transferred! And oh, how nicely it works now. ^^

So just a quick update/sum-up on where things are at this year, projects-wise!
I'd like to get back on track to finishing at least one project per month, so my current aim is that "castle lady squish" piece; in theory, it's ready to go on rendering, and with the amount of detail in Iray renders, postwork can be far more minimal. The issue is that, quite simply, Iray renders are a bit taxing and I have no idea how long one will take, nor am I all that good at figuring out the settings ye...

So I've been experimenting more with DS4 and the features within it, lately. And as it turns out, there's a particular feature available in there that lets you make things conform or collide with other objects, or if you tweak the settings a little, squish against other objects... <3
It's not quite a full softbody physics simulation, "squished" objects don't maintain their mass properly and you need to adjust that manually (in this case, I needed to make her chest bigger bef...

Very rough, since it's still in the "figuring out how these lights work" stage (also in preview render mode). But we're off to a good start here, I think!
Perhaps it's biting off more than I should so early, but I'd really like to render this scene in Iray; the ability to make the candles cast real light, the increased realism with shading... I don't think I'll go quite so dark on the final image, a few more lights should improve the scene. But I like where it's going so far.
