During the process I realized how less I know about materials and colors. The whole practice felt a bit wonky at the beginning. I want to continue this study later. It is a good warm-up training.

WIPs of my new manga pages from the prologue. I already showed some older version of page 1, I think. But I updated them by incorporating my new hairstyles and new texture techniques for the coloration of the character. On top of that the background will also get more detailed in a later version. I plan to fill the blank canvas with a lot of monitors then.
I hope everything will go smoothly so that I can at least upload my first 10 pages this month.

The composition looks almost like the previous version. Textures and crosshatching are still missing, but I already like how the lineart turned out. It looks more refined to me. I feel like Chaudine has gotten easier to draw with her new design now.

I do not know f I already mentioned the Konchūgoku Empire already once. They are the main enemy faction of the Verminvasion arc, a late story arc in my manga. There are different Konchūgoku generals whose drone units represent different arthropod species.

Rough version of an upcoming page which replace the old scene in the prologue around page 11-13.
The big dome-like island is actually the shell of a giant monster turtle. I posted its design a few weeks ago. But I think it will need a proper refinement and some slight redesigns. The sketch version looks pretty strange here but since I know that this is only a rough I didn't intend to spend too much time on it for now.

Another manga page for the new prologue based on an older page. It also serves as a practice page. What I try to achieve was a balance of the sepia color scheme and the burning fire effect which shouldn't look too off in comparison to the rest of the chapter.
The context for the summoned ultima was changed. Instead of Chaudine's intention to attack the maid like in the older version, this time it is because the whole ship will be invaded by the monsters much sooner in the story.

A fighting scene in the late part of the prologue chapter, featuring Tsu-Lin's ultima.
I drew this double page action scene because it should serve as a practice canvas for several new brushes. I think I will change Tsu-Lin's pose slightly to convey more impact to her ice attack.
