Goals for 2020

- Complete Melody from Another World (will probably end up being somewhere between 90-100 chapters)

-Take a break from serious writing for a few months (not writing completely (I think I'd die if I tried) but no major projects, nothing with a set schedule, just a little something or two every month whenever I get it completed. I've been writing MFAW continuously for going on 3-4 years now, lol, I'll need a break)

-complete Nanowrimo once again (I will keep up this streak even if i...

Be Gay, Do Crimes - A Ryou and Company oneshot

A oneshot for our December winner - Callie Q! Hope you enjoy it!

“What are you guys doing?”

Ryou and Genma froze, attempting to sink into the shadows cast by the Nekozawa compound’s large walls without moving. Apparently it didn’t work because Kourubi and Mai continued to stare at them.

“I’m plotting some possibly petty revenge against my awful parents,” Ryou explained in a dramatic stage whisper.

“Okay...but why? Didn’t you ver...

The final snippet from this year's Nanowrimo --

She walked over to her friends, Ashe, Yuki, and Kai half tackling her to the pavement as they all hugged her at once. Elwood kept that from happening by picking all four of them up in his arms, making them yell and squeal as they kicked the air. Hugs from Henry, Sorin, and Tristan all came in turn. Fae slipped one last bangle onto her right wrist.

“Jade,” she said. “For luck.”

A snippet from yesterday's Nanowrimo --

William growled, “I’m not done with you yet, Little Red Riding Hood! I’ll tear you to pieces, and devour your very soul!”

“Dude, give it a rest,” Ashe said dismissively. “You’re outmanned and outgunned. We’ve beat you.”

“You think so?”

Flannery felt her chest go cold as Jacob spoke, his voice strange – echoic and distorted. She turned, her eyes latching onto his face. ...

A snippet from today's Nanowrimo --

Flannery and Elwood held the doors open for Tristan as he carried Sorin over the threshold and into the coffee shop. Granny stood behind the counter, brewing something in the espresso machine. She looked up with a smile, her smile falling when she noticed the still sleeping Sorin.

“Is he alright?” she asked.

“The spell is gone,” Flannery said. “He just hasn’t woken up yet.”

As she sai...

When Flannery next found herself aware of anything, it was midmorning and the sun was shining right in her eyes. She groaned, squinting against the very rude sun’s rays, and found that Matilda’s book had fallen from her lap at some point in the night. Rolling her neck and wincing at the popping sounds it made, she looked about for the old tome. She found it, miraculously, on her desk where she’d picked it up, open to...

It was the middle of the night, and Flannery couldn’t sleep. She tossed and turned, staring out at a moon that was stuck between a half moon and a full one – waxing gibbous, she thought it was called. She felt anxious, just absolutely full of pent up, nervous energy. She sat up, bringing her knees up under her chin. She couldn’t put her finger on what was wrong. Even before, when she actively feared what the Grimm br...

“Elwood, slow down a bit, I’m about to do something stupid,” Flannery ordered, slowly standing in the bed of the truck.

“Flannery, don’t you dare!” Fae shouted even as Elwood slowed down.

“Daring!” She shouted back, taking a running start towards the tailgate. “PARKOUR BITCH!”

She planted a foot on the tailgate, using it to push herself into a leap out of the truck bed. She...

“What is it?” she asked, attempting to dust herself off and only making herself more dirty. “What did I find?”

“A book,” Ashe said, passing over a small, leather-bound book.

Flannery opened the book, expecting to find the title of the Brothers Grimm’s book on the pages. Instead, she found the flowery handwriting of a young girl, and a table of contents.

“Matilda’s stori...

Elwood was already there when they showed up, waiting in his large truck.

“You can either try cramming into the cab, or we can sit you in the bed,” he said. “Cab is crammed but safer, bed is roomier but more dangerous.”

“Also illegal,” Ashe pointed out casually, stuffing her hands into her pockets.

“Also illegal,” Elwood agreed. “But we have like five cops here and non...

It took Flannery two blocks to start shaking, and another half block to start crying again. The power and courage drained from her, leaving her feeling weak and emotionally confused. Her legs gave out from under her, and she was lucky Elwood was there to catch her.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice tight with panic.

Flannery shook her head, gasping for air. “I don’t – I don’t know!...

She ran towards them, fist pulled back and ready to strike. But her fist never made contact. In fact, she never reached them at all.

She froze midstride, held suspended in time as her muscles contracted painfully and shook. Flannery gasped in shock, feeling the burning, caustic smoke of William and Jacob’s magical essence surround her and, as she inhaled, fill her lungs.

“Nicely done, Hood.” Flannery was starting to think Conor’s power was the ability to just appear out of nowhere. It was really unfair how often they managed to scare her. “Seems like you really have started a revolution. Even if Ashe hated those two before, she never would have up and punched them before.”

Which...

“Punching people is still not okay, Flannery!”

“I will not live in fear while I’m here because two idiots think they can control how I live my life!” Flannery shouted, standing so fast her chair make a terrible scraping noise against the floor. “I get enough of that shit at home, I’m not going to deal with it here. “Ugh, no more trees for me,” she muttered, rolling her shoulders back. She was definitely taking the first tram she saw going towards Main Street.

“Did you have fun on your little adventured, Miss Flannery?”

Flannery immediately tensed. She hadn’t been paying attention to her surroundings, clearly. Otherwise she should have felt that nasty, caustic aura coming from a mile away. She turned,...
