I think there needs to be a stronger expression than "going through it" to describe how difficult this page was to draw, lol. Turns out I'm very attached to my fictional men! A lot of comic artists are what I call "method actors" with their art, meaning they wear the expression they're drawing on their own face as they try and nail that expression on paper. And by now, I think I've engraved a permanent 11 between my eyebrows (*;´□`)ゞ

I'd been wanting to give True Grit's KolorMarc alcohol marker Clip Studio Paint brushes a go, and they were a lot of fun :) This is sized to fit an average phone background, so I attached the file in case anyone wanted a demon pressed against the inside of their screen haha

Originally I had intended to turn the camera on Ethan for most of the page, but I think the looks on the faces of everyone inside Sanctuary shows more of what I wanted to convey - that things are pretty dire and there's nothing anyone can say to make that less upsetting (;╹⌓╹)

I did all this research about the anatomy of the thoracic cavity, how shock presented, what adrenaline would do to the system, what was reasonable to survive, etc, agonized over what would be realistic for Athena/Al in this scenario, and then used almost none of it because Al is a demon! It's already been established he doesn't operate like your standard issue human when it comes to injury. I hope you'll indulge one singular page of fantasy medical drama before we get back to the kin...

I really like doing progressions with a single scene, where the debauchery escalates to the point a character tosses whatever decorum they were clinging to and goes all in, haha. You can just read someone else's notes later, Ethan!
