The mayor’s office was easy enough to find, with signage pointing them in the right direction. They gathered outside the door without making a sound, Luke and Ilya at the back.
“Are you sure she’s in there?” Luke asked, his voice a whisper.
Ilya nodded. “I’m sure.”
Mateo and Lucy stood right next to the double doors, each of them with a hand on a doorknob, Penny right behind them. Mateo counted down from three... two... one! They threw the doors open with a war...

The call didn’t even connect. Thinking about it, he knew why.
“Can’t talk to her,” he said.
“Why not?” Penny asked.
Luke put the phone away. “She’s in that other dungeon on behalf of the DIA.”
“Your sister is working for the government?” Lucy asked.
“Seems that way.”
“You must be proud!” Mateo declared. “Now we make haste!”
“This one is correct. The more time we give her, the more difficult it will be to uproot the ...

Inspected Integrated: Ilya. Chanter. Level 4.
Luke walked up to Hollow-Ilya and stood over her. "You said you have information to share."
"I do."
"What is it?"
She pursed her lips before getting to her feet, standing a little too close for comfort. "There is a queen that you must destroy if you wish to save your homeworld."
"I know that much," Luke said. "How come the queen is letting you do this? Talk to me, I mean. Another Hollow I spoke to sou...

EDIT: Dammit! As a fine and upstanding patron pointed out to me, I gave her class a name in the very next chapter. That is now also changed! Bloomcaller it is!
Hey!
I was just made aware that in chapter 31 it could sort of be interpreted as Milla (his sister) also having picked the Lifeweaver class. She did not, she just picked a healer class. I've updated that paragraph to this:
"You picked a healer class too, huh?" she asked. "Mine is called Bloomcaller. Yo...

The Hollows transformed themselves, changing their appearance, giving themselves the ability to speak in another person's voice, and even to use their weapons. All this, however, wasn't enough, not against Luke's Threads of Mana.
"Monster core," Luke shouted, wrapping Leonardo's core in one thread as he cut through the monster's mana channels with another, using Needle of Life. Before anyone could even react, he raised his hand into the air, holding the core up for all to see.

With my epic fantasy story, I'm releasing chapters as soon as I write them. This is mostly because I didn't have a clue how people usually structure their Patreons.
Lifeweaver is set at 15 chapters ahead of the free readers now which means I schedule chapters. This honestly feels a little strange even if I now know that's how it's usually done.
So, I thought why not let you fine people decide how you want chapters released instead?
I can continue with 15 chapters ahead and p...

The Hollow struggled against the combined strength of Josh, Lucy, and Ken's vines, not giving up even as Luke stood over it.
"Where is the real Carlos?" Luke asked it.
The monster put on the same casual smile it showed before turning to flee. "I am the real Carlos. This is just a huge misunderstanding."
"Are you sure, Luke?" Cam asked, coming up to join the others. "He sounds like Carlos, though."
Luke got down on one knee and put his hand on Hollow-Carlos's chest. Thr...

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to drop in and announce some changes I've made to early chapters, due to feedback.
Changes:
* The electricity no longer goes out at the start (Chapter 1, 3, 14).
* Percentage of people who picked healers changed to a more general wording of "few so far" (Chapter 3).
* Added a mention of "a push of mental fortitude" to help deal with death etc, to make everyone feel a little less psycho. (Chapter 6).
* Rather than n...

Heading deeper into the city, towering buildings reached into the sky in all directions, many of them covered by vegetation, reclaimed by nature.
Ken stared up. "What if this is Earth in the future?"
"It’s not," Lucy said.
"This is just some generated pocket world for us to play around in so we grow stronger," Josh added.
Luke looked up into the sky. A too large moon hung up there, visible despite the light of day. "What makes you think that?"
"It...

Hi everyone! Nice to see so many new faces with the launch of my new fiction. After today (dropping a bunch of chapters on RR) Patreon will be exactly 15 chapters ahead, like in the description.
For now, it’ll stay that way but my goal is to write enough to eventually up Patreon so it’s 20 chapters ahead. Since I’m going on a long summer vacation soon (6 weeks, yay Sweden), that probably won’t happen until after August.
Until next time,
Oskar
Ps. I’ll still w...

Josh was among the Hollows, bashing them, while Mia and Ken threw out spells, Ken with ice, and vines growing from the ground, holding the monsters, and Mia doing something to twist the Hollows' flesh, tearing them apart from the inside.
Confident the rest of the party had the situation in hand, Luke turned his attention to Lucy and her wounds. A flash of healing mana fixed up her neck wound at the cost of all his remaining mana. He hated to do it, but there was no other option, or she...

"What about me?" Lucy asked.
Luke gave her a long look and watched her squirm, then smiled. "There's nothing wrong with you. Or you," he said, looking at Mia.
That was a bit of a lie, however. There was something about Mia's brain that gave Luke pause. But it wasn't an illness or injury in the traditional sense. He couldn't quite make heads or tails of it, so he thought it best not to scare her when it might just be something related to her class.
"Okay," Josh said. "Good th...

Josh's Juggernaut class was a heavy type of melee fighter, using a shield and a mace. On request from Ken, Josh showed off his weapon: a dangerous-looking mace called a morning star, where a metal shaft ended in a ball of metal covered in pointed spikes. Luke hoped the mix of puncturing and bashing would work well, on the Hollows.
Lucy, the other melee fighter, was the complete opposite of Josh. She was short, with a thin but athletic frame, and she wore a white t-shirt and a pair...

Mia and Ken, the short-name duo, allowed him to check to make sure they weren't hollows. Sure enough, neither of them walked around with monster cores. Luke never thought they did, but he'd rather be safe than sorry. Luke healed the wound in his side as they walked back to the portal, focusing on doing so without spending the little mana he'd regenerated. Pain flared with every stitch, but this was an important process to get used to. Healing himself while walking, and even doing so without u...

Without The Healer's Moment, Luke would be dead. He stared at the edge of the sword mere inches from his face. Unable to raise his hands, Luke used the only tool available to him, his mana. With Weaver's Grasp, he was able to extend Threads of Mana outside his body from any part of him, including his face. Seeing the three threads extending from his face was a little weird, but he didn't give it much thought. There were more important things to focus on, like the huge sword right in front of ...

"The Hollow Queen, huh?" Curtis said, striking a pose, his blade disappearing into his inventory again. "Sounds interesting."
Trying to look past the other Integrated's annoying personality and arrogance, Luke took a deep breath. "So, you want to do this together, or what?"
"No," Curtis said. He turned and walked off down the street.
It wasn't a great idea to antagonize others as a healer, perhaps. Damage output wasn't Luke's specialty, and dealing with monsters took more th...

Before even getting up, Luke texted Alan to let him know he'd be out of reception range for a little while, then Ray, telling him to get ready. He thought for a moment, then texted Mateo, Colt, Penny, and Hannah as well. Only then did he try to get off the inflatable mattress on the floor.
"Ow. What the hell?"
It was his legs. They weren't working. Well, not working like he wanted, at least. Just thinking about moving them in any significant way made the muscles in his legs scream...

"I'm just going to take a look at you, OK?" Luke asked again, not getting any reply from the sick boy. Perhaps that wasn't the best line to use in this situation, and he checked to make sure no one was by the door. Not wanting to scare the kid, Luke moved to his side before allowing Threads of Mana to move from his palm, through the space between them, and into his patient. It was bad.
The muscles of his legs were in an awful state, as were the muscles in his abdomen. How the kid was si...

The doctor who rushed out of the hospital after Luke was one of Luke's old classmates from college. He'd been the biggest fuck-up in the class, always partying, just scraping over the pass/fail line, and even missing large chunks of their practical modules. Luke and Tim, they'd never been close and didn't move in the same circles on campus, but this doctor standing in front of him was Tim, no doubt about it. Genuine surprise surged through Luke at seeing his old classmate. Not so much for run...

The little old lady turned and looked up at Luke, blinked, then adjusted her thin-framed glasses, got up, and moved one seat over to get away from him. Maybe this would be trickier than he thought.
"Have you seen the news? The orb?" he asked, but she just ignored him, looking away like he was a crazy person.
Sitting back in his chair, Luke pondered how to go about this when a sound made him turn the other way.
"Pst!"
A woman in her forties with auburn hair with streaks...

The clanking of weights being dropped in machines, men flexing in front of mirrors, boys laughing around a bench press, the hum of treadmills, and cell phones recording everywhere. Luke stood just inside the doors of a huge commercial chain gym he picked out for no other reason than proximity to his apartment.
"Welcome!" a well-toned young woman chirped from behind the counter.
Luke pulled his gaze from the gym itself and looked at her, then swallowed and took a step back.

Milla pulled back, laughed at his comment, and punched his arm. "My new job will pay well enough to treat you to pizza until the end of days."
"You got a job already?" Luke asked. "That was quick."
"Yup! I just got it today! I am on the payroll of The Department of Integrated Affairs."
Luke coughed and cleared his mouth. "You work for the DIA? Wonder why Marston didn't mention that."
Milla shrugged and got off the bed. "Sure, why not? They've hired a bunch of Integrate...

The profession that spoke to him was much like Lifeweaver, in that its description was vague at best.
Seeker: Trace and uncover the secrets of The Greater System.
After talking with Relian and spending some time in a dungeon, Luke felt more curious than ever about what The System was and what it offered. This profession was a way of learning more, he hoped. And he had an inkling that maybe, just maybe, it would give him an edge going forward.
He'd reached le...

The texts from Milla came in a stream of disjointed messages. "Hey, brother. So, don't be mad, but I got a great idea. I'm heading into town with Mom and Dad now. I'm going to touch the orb. Maybe becoming Integrated will help me breathe a little easier. Dad isn't happy about it, but he caved."
The timestamps of the next messages showed they'd been sent two hours later.
"Getting into town was a nightmare, but I'm here now. Got my travel oxygen tank in a backpack. Just waiting in l...

The door opened a crack, and Colt appeared, his face a mess of bruises and cuts. He stepped inside, walking in a shambling manner, much like the zombies, unnatural and stiff. His eyes widened when he spotted Luke, but he didn’t come forward. Instead, he shuffled to the side to allow Mateo to enter.
He was in a similar state, injured, bleeding, and beaten. Penny didn’t look much better. Blood clung to her hair, matting it against the side of her skull, and her blue robes were torn ap...

With the wooden stage in the middle of the square behind him, Luke approached the building with the burning torch. Getting closer, he saw that the building was well lit inside. He stopped outside, wondering if he should knock or just barge in.
"You might as well come in," a voice sounded from within.
Inside, it was just one large room, cleared of any furniture except a large table at the back, a few chairs around it. Lanterns hung evenly spaced along the wall, giving ample light t...
