Weekly progress update - Feb 14th

Happy Valentine's day folks,

I hope you all enjoyed the latest version of the game you were able to play. Obviously getting out the Chapter 6 release, and making 5 available to Great Friends and 4 for Free was my initial focus for the week.

After that I worked on the trailer for Steam, see the link in the post below. From a Steam perspective, my next step is to create the Steam page, it's a pretty involved process but once that is up I will let you know. I will be asking, actually...

For Sale button

Just a quick note. Patreon have introduced a new feature where you can just pay for a single post.

Use case for here would be one of the chapter uploads.

Steam trailer - First Draft - Help

Hi Folks,

I spent the last couple of days since getting chapter 6 out, learning how to use CapCut and trying my hand at video editing to build the trailer for steam.

I'm no expert, this is literally the first time I've done any video editing, so any feedback would be welcome but please be kind as I'm a total noob :) The video contains a few renders from Chapter 6 that folks who've not played it yet may prefer to avoid.

C6 - Renders Complete

Yay, all done rendering out chapter 6. I noticed a small issue with one of the animations during some initial testing that I need to fix, so I will render that while I perform my full end to end tests. Add a few more sound effects in, spell check (DEFINITELY (you know who you are)), compress the images down, then the final step to compile and ready to upload. Weekly Update - Feb 7th

Hi Everyone,

As you saw in my previous post, I finally finished the biggest and most important scene of Chapter 6. I'm now firmly into the final stretch. It's a long stretch still but I'm getting there. There are 6 more scenes to go, if we work on a principle of 2 days per scene that would bring me out to a delivery date for Chapter 6 of Feb 19th. However not all scenes are created equal, at least half of the ones left are pretty simple. I'm therefore confident to predict an ETA for Cha...

Behemoth done :)

After 152 renders plus 5 animations, the behemoth scene is complete, yay! That's 200 hours plus of rendering and probably at least another 200 in set up too !!

I can see the finishing line now for chapter 6, with 4 large scenes left (no where near Behemoth size) and 5 small scenes. I'll put up an ETA for chapter 6 at the next weekly update.

It's a great scene, happy with it but I'm also so happy to be done building it :)

Weekly Update - Jan 24th

HI Everyone,

A productive week for me as I fight yet another virus my kids brought home with them from school, this time of year (in cold climates of the northern hemisphere at least) are terrible for that.

I've completed  7 scenes out of the planned 16 for chapter 6 as of now. I am deep into the 8th scene which is the longest and most involved in terms of both script and rendering. I anticipate this one scene will take me around a week to complete.

One of the issues I encounter often during rendering is items of clothing or hair or other kinds of assets you put on a character that just misbehave for whatever reason. A lot of the times you can put up with them for a single shot or 2 or 3 but when you want to render more than a handful it's a lot of work having to mess around with the item or do post prod work. Best Friends - Chapter 5 - Complete

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your patience. Here it is, the second and final part of Chapter 5. Like I mentioned in the weekly, I have now flipped to .webp image files, which is why the file size is considerably smaller.

Play the game the way you want to but if you want to see all the content, I thoroughly encourage playing both paths, there is a lot of exclusive content to each path for this update.

Just a heads up, I'm on the last couple of renders now and I have completed the bulk of my testing too. So I'm fully expecting the update will drop tomorrow, I may redo a couple of animations but in all honesty neither animation is game breaking as it is so it shouldn't hold up the initial release.

With that in mind, I'm going to release part one of chapter 5 to Great Friend Tier today and Chapter 4 will now be available to Good Friends :)

Weekly Update - Jan 10th

Hi Everyone,

Great news on the progress front. I've begun rendering out the final scene for chapter 5, as I write this I have 23 renders left to go. Most of these renders are already set up or require small changes to other frames. On a good day I can bang those out in a day, it may spill over a little to tomorrow.

I do sense with this release though that the final testing period will be a little longer than previous ones because there are so many different scenes, the final count...

Weekly Update - Jan 3rd

Hi Everyone,

It's been a great week in terms of progress. I have now completed 15 scenes for part two of chapter 5, the 16th should be done by the end of today. After that there are only 5 scenes left. At least one of those scenes however is going to be a big one in terms of rendering effort. I'm estimating right now 8 days more effort to complete the rendering for chapter 5 add in 2 days for testing, cleaning up and compiling and I should therefore be able to deliver the completed chap...

I hope you all had a great Christmas and are all set for the New Year.

I've been busy working away on the next update, which honestly is turning out to be a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be initially. I've completed a total of 7 scenes, halfway through the 8th one, the screen shot above is from that scene but there are still 11 to go !

Something clearly went awry in my planning for this chapter because as I stated before, I average about 20 scenes...
