This one lives in your oven. Last of the core elementals and some scorpion desert-mages, too. Hot stuff, basically.

Got us a full complement of earth elementals here, up to and including the big grandaddy of all of 'em and our first archomental, Ogrémoch. Also slipping in is a stat block I did for the daelkyr Orlassk ages ago; I'd been waiting on a good piece of art to come along for him but never found anything that worked, so I figured I'd just share what I've got so people could play with it.
It's 2 am and I'm getting this in just under the wire, so I have nothing fun to share here. The monsters, on the other hand, are gonna be fun as all get-out (perhaps not as fun as April's, but it's hard to compete with ghost pirates).
Upcoming in May:
We're ploughing ahead with elementals this month, getting a good spread of all the basic ones at least to give us a stronghold from which to conquer the remaining 13 elements. After that, there'll be some flyin...

I really liked the format of the lightning elementals, so I'm going to go ahead and do that for all 18 elements; we got air and water here, with enough variants that you should be able to find something for most any niche you need one in, typically ranging from CR 1 to mid-teens, and with mephits filling in the sub-CR (don't forget about mephits and myrmidons, though).
Air Elementals also got a spell for summoning Invisible Stalkers in a way that works a bit better with their role as a...

The Chinese mythological roster is a thinner than it ought to be, largely because historical Chinese bestiaries that have been translated into english tend to be sort of clinical, but I'm chipping away at it as I find good inspiration.
If you're curious about Jiangshi; there's a whole genre of Jiangshi movies that was super popular in 80's and 90's Hong Kong cinema, the best of which was probably Mr. Vampire 4: Uncle Vampire. These stat blocks pull from the cinematic tradition, but have...

We got 24 variants of them now... time to stick a Beauty and the Beast castle somewhere, I guess. Also these haunted golden robots, in case you need a more artificer-y sort of lich.
Also, here're a few other variants I've slipped into stuff that hasn't been enough to warrant posts of their own, too:
Whether due to damming, drought, or pollution, sometimes when you don't treat your bodies of water right they just up and leave. They're not particularly hostile, but moving uphill is tough for them so they're gonna take the easiest route to where they're going, and if you're in the way it's your responsibility to figure out what to do about it.
On that note, they need to concentrate while on a slope to keep from rolling downhill, which I find very cute.
Ghost pirates? Ghost ship? We got both those and and shipwreck golem to spook up the high seas a smidge, along with a slew of mariners curses, oceanic apparitions, and a spell for creating shipwreck golems of your own.
Also have another collab with the Fluffy Folio slated for release later this week, so keep an eye out for that :D
1,850 monsters now (2,000+ if you count Early Access) and I finally can just start saying I've made "thousands" of monsters. Really pleased with how it's all been coming along; I've managed to fill in some long-standing blank spots in the catalog recently and got some of my oldest work updated to a standard I'm happy with. The spell compendium is up to 200 spells now, as well. Also crossed the 2nd birthday for one of my games and the 33rd birthday for the body I'm currently inhabiting, so tha...

Man, I gotta tell someone about moonrats. They're just regular rats till the moonlight soaks into their brains and makes 'em smart... smart and eeeeevil. They build hare-brained contraptions all month long, but as the moonlight wanes they get dumber, and end up too foolish to finish or operate them.
We also got us some goblin war-chickens and a legendary primal chicken-beast. Also, a snake who's trying to throw hands.
The rukaryzyll is the centerpiece this week; shapeshifting fungal oozes that were seeded through the material plane as sleeper agents for a grand demonic plot and then got completely forgotten about; now they pass the time selling cursed magic items in alleys or pretending to be clerics while they wait for activation orders that are never going to come.
I played around a bit with the ochre jelly's classic division abilities too, trying to make something that does its thing in a way that...

Here's a free download code for the adventure collaboration I did with Lorelock last month if anyone wants to check it out:
CONFLUXFRIENDS100
You can pick it up on his website over here: https://www.lorelock.co/product-page/the-fermenting-fear

Not quite enough for a night parade, but we'll get there. Yokai have a particular vibe that I think meshes well with D&D; they're intelligent enough to communicate with, alien enough that doing so is a challenge, hostile enough that you don't need to feel bad about fighting them (but not so hostile that you necessarily have to fight them), and unmoored from reality in a way that feels inextricably magical, even in settings where magic threatens to become mundane.
If y'all a...

We broke 500 patrons for the first time last month, and I've started to feel less foolish about committing to being a career tabletop guy. Don't really know how to say how cool it is that y'all just sort of willed this job into existence; "Do the best work you can and don't worry about time or pagecount" really couldn't exist as a mandate in the TTRPG space without things like patreon.
I knuckled down a bit and made a good few monsters-by-biome lists this month, along with lists of fami...
2024-03-01 19:00:08 +0000 UTC View PostI got to do another collaboration with my favorite monster artist; the marshbellow is a bog-dwelling pyrophitic fungus that needs fire to melt the casing around its spores; it can smell if you've got fire magic, and will harass you until you burn it.
The mouth is fake and meant to spook you into thinking they'll bite you; those tooth-shaped things are soft and squishy and they actually eat with their feet.
Not the friends you're thinking of, though (at least not yet). Also put together a ton of signature spells for him, both old and new.
Been a while since I've done one of these fan projects, but I randomly ran into Fang VonWrathstein a few weeks ago and took it as a sign from the metal gods that it was time to do another.
Fang was super enthusiastic and helpful through the whole process, and it was really a blast using the album's themes to dig into the core of the archetypes it represents; oaths and oathbreaking, the tension between duties of rule and duties of conscience, and the psychology of a fall from grace. ...

Got some NPCs I did for an upcoming Lords of the Trident collaboration, a banker miniboss I made for a friend's game, some naval officers, and some divesuit saboteurs here.
Sorry this took so long! Since I had to re-do the work anyways I ended up just going ahead and throwing everything from the rest of this month in, so this is an early 1.26.
Doing it on a different computer with a fresh install though, so let me know if any compatibility issues crop up.
