Week three of my campaign to write for Crushing Krisis as if you were paying me to do it full time finds me maintaining my pace in the words department at 76,000 total published words in posts this month, plus another 16,000 in my three new comic guides.
This week's contributions to the total took 20hrs of writing and another 18hrs of guide-making to achieve, so we're pretty much at a 40hr work week. Full time mission acc...

This one has been cooking for a long time, my friends - The Definitive Guide to Collecting New Warriors!
I am SO VERY EXCITED to share it with you because New Warriors is one of the last two major ongoing Marvel title lines missing from Crushing Comics!!!
That's right - of all Marvel ongoing title...

Comment to help me choose my next "From the Beginning" readalong comic!
As hard as it is to believe, being more than halfway through the month of blogging means I'm halfway through my "From the Beginning" read of the initial years of the WildStorm Universe!
I'd like you to help me choose what to focus on next so I can continue the series. I'd prefer a shorter, contained run that you might be inspired to read for the first time (and can actually readily acquire, ...

Marking the start of Week 2 of my campaign on Crushing Krisis with an election wasn't the best thing for my editing productivity, since I am an utter political news junky. As a result, I was chasing the blog a bit this week to get everything posted.
I also cross the 50,000 word mark with yesterday's posts. That's insane. It's as much as I wrote in November of 2010 when I penned the first draft of Krisis f...

I'm blogging all this month as if you've already pledged $1,000 a month in support of CK. While I might not have all the resources that would entail, I'm putting that much time and effort in CK's content this month to show you what the future could hold (even if it's causing my eyes to mutiny and try to escape my skull from all the copy-editing).
Read more about this month's initiative in my post 2016-11-07 21:06:51 +0000 UTC

Thanks to an entire day alone in the house and an extra hour of Daylight Savings Time, I just put the finishing touches on my brand new Marvel Ultimate Universe Guide!
Your password to access the guide (until I get your spiffy user roles set up) is 1610. Please do not share th...

In my last post I explained why it’s so important to me for this campaign to reach at least $84 a month in support of Crushing Krisis, and ideally $120.
At $120/month, CK will be humming along in the most optimal shape it's been in for years - but that doesn't mean my plans end there! Here’s a look at some of the next things I’d focus when pledges are between $120-800/month (though not necessarily in this order).

When I first launched Crushing Krisis it was on a free web hosting serviced called Freespeech dot org. Each post was made via Blogger and FTP to my server, and I used Sitemeter to track my stats.
All of those things were free.
To celebrate my first year anniversary, I purchased Uprush dot org (still my email server, but no longer a webpage) and a hosting plan, marking the first time I had ever paid to blog.
Things ha...

Today I am taking the unorthodox step of sharing a slice of Crushing Krisis’s traffic trends to show you the order of magnitude of change you have brought to my life by reading CK, but also as context to explain the costs of maintaining CK in a series of posts starting tomorrow.
Unfortunately, my first six years of site statistics are lost to time and unreliable SaaSes, but I do have all of my pageview statistics star...

There is a single phrase that drives not only my professional obsession with communications and customers, but my personal compulsion of creating endlessly detailed comic guides and my new focus on asking you to sponsor Crushing Krisis.
The phrase is “Certain People Are Always Right.”
That doesn’t mean some people. I’m not arbitrarily choosing a group of correct people. It means that people who are very cer...

NOTE: Pledge levels have changed since the launch of this campaign (as has Patreon's manner of displaying them)! Please trust what's presently on the sidebar. I've left this post published for historical reference purposes.
Because the Rewards Sidebar is long and can be a little hard to read, I've recapped the rewards here. If you have any questions, ask away!

I spent $1 on my first comic book – X-Men #3 in December ...

I've started this campaign after 16 years of blogging to help cover CK's running costs and to expand its features in 2017. Just $31 a month will pay for ho...
