Chapter 50: Trouble Within Expectations

I smiled as I opened my closet, retrieving the black suit I had bought yesterday, as I began dressing myself.

It wasn't anything fancy or expensive, just a black suit, red shirt, and leather shoes, but it looked good enough for me to maintain my appearance as the leader of a new group.

And the best part about it is that it didn't restrict my movement in the least, as it was made from a uniqu...

Chapter 49: The Power Of Debt

"Was that a dream, or...," I murmured to myself, retrieving the sealed coin out of my inventory. "It's more or less identical to the one Hendrick died embracing," I frowned in thought.

'Whatever, maybe the case, I'll have to think about it later.' I shook my head with a sigh as I got up, intending to take a shower to get rid of the sweat covering my body before anything else.

I started walking towards...

"You're here to see the witch?" the man asked in an incredulous tone, looking me up and down.

"The witch?" Doc Q questioningly gasped as he turned to look at me with a confused expression, but I didn't reply.

"I believe that is what people call her here, yes," I said with a nod, shrugging my shoulders as I kept my gaze on the man.

"Well, she lives in a giant tree west of the town," the man said while gesturing in the direction. "G...

Chapter 48: Hendrick's Demise part 2

"Take aim!" Hendrick exclaimed with an eager grin, brandishing his sword forward as soon as the two ship treasure fleet was within range.

He did not bother trying to get the two ships to surrender, as he knew

Honduran sailors would never give up their cargo without a fight.

Hendrick's crew, being the greedy cut-throat pirates they were, immediately obliged his instructions, grinning...

Chapter 47: Hendrick's Demise

With Energy Predator out of the way, I might as well check my other gains from the games while I have some free time on my hand.

'I should start with what I gained from killing the Deterrent.'

Dalton listened to my words and frowned, deep in thought as he juggled the implications in his head.

"I do not understand what you mean, but as long as you don't go out of your way to harm civilians, then we will have no problems," Dalton said a second of silence, standing up.

"Now, if you'll excuse me. I have duties to attend to," Dalton concluded as he turned around and left.

"What's all this about, captain?" Laffite asked...

Chapter 46:  Fallout Town

I have a problem. I'm horny, and horny Kaden is bad Kaden as I'm very prone to be dragged into troublesome situations by hot women when I'm in that state.

I still remember that one time when some chick convinced me to deal with some random guy stalking her. He turned out to be an amateur boxer, and things quickly went to shit when I confronted him in the name of getting laid.

I wasn't a pushover myself and manag...

Chapter 45:  The Incoming Storm

I felt the scorching sun stinging the skin on my exposed arms and smiled at the familiarity of the sensation despite it not being my own, as it came from the memories of this body's former owner.

I opened my eyes, and sure enough, found myself standing in the middle of nowhere in what seemed to be like your typical dessert.

Though the sign of this piece of land still lingers, and you could spot...

"I'll stay on the ship," Wilson said as we began leaving the ship, making everyone stop, staring at the four-armed primate with wide eyes.

"What's with that you look, you bastards?" Wilson said with a scowl, glaring back at us.

"Well, you're usually more eager than anyone to leave the ship," I replied with a chuckle, amusement in my voice.

"I hate snow," Wilson naturally replied, snorting in annoyance. "It gets everywhere," he added, pa...

Chapter 44:  A Legend Falls

"If you give up those experience points, then I will offer you a perk worth at least double that amount," Johnny stated, spreading his arms wide with a smug expression all over his face.

"Let's hear it then," I remarked, keeping a neutral expression as I paused, waiting for Johnny to keep going.

The perk I will give you won't give you the instant power-up you're looking for right now," Johnny expla...

Chapter 43:  Demise

The roof exploded with a loud bang over my head, and it only took a second for me to find myself buried in the rubble of the collapsed roof.

Luckily though, I was fast enough to react, covering myself in aura armor and avoiding any injury in the process.

So with a grunt of effort, I managed to shrug off the debris covering me, lightly coughing as dust flew everywhere, covering my vision and creeping into m...

We had been in the sea for several days now, and I could already feel a chill in the air, indicating that we were nearing Drum island as it is known for its wintery weather.

Of course, the weather in the past couple of days has been anything but pleasant as we had to cross a sea area affected by the magnetic fields of two different islands affected by two utterly contrasting weather phenomena.

I already knew what I was getting into when I decided to head into...

Chapter 42:  Showdown part 3

As he destroyed the last clone sight and sealed the sinister gold coin in an energy sphere, he hideously smirked as blood tricked from his head, covering his face and making it seem even more ferocious.

He panted in exhaustion as one last clone appeared behind him, throwing away a piece of transparent fabric it used to become invisible and attacking Clay with the same poisonous dagger that caused unhealable wounds. ...

"It's been a long time since I had the chance to unwind," Deterrent remarked, still smiling savagely. "This is a good day!" he added, clenching his fists with a stiff posture.

And his muscles enlarged, with the vein lining his body becoming pronounced even under his armor. Clay grasped a handful of his attire at the torso area, yanking it away and revealing the bloody hole in his chest.

The bloody wound...

"The drum kingdom, eh?" Crocus remarked, nodding his head with a thoughtful expression. "I haven't been there in a while. I wonder how that old hag is doing?" he murmured to no one in particular as his expression turned into a smiling one.

I raised an eyebrow at his remark but chose not to comment. "So, are you up for it, old-timer?" I asked with a smile, keeping an even expression.

"Why not?" Crocus replied with a smile, nodding his head. "It's about t...

Chapter 40:  Showdown part 1

"This place should be safe enough," I remarked, looking around and scanning the surroundings as I landed inside an empty simulation room and dropped Clark.

"We should hurry up and escape while we still can," Clark said as he began adjusting his attire with his usual neutral, deadpan expression.

"No. Not yet, at least," I replied with a sigh, shaking my head and earning a raised eyebrow from Clark....

Chapter 39: Endgame

I sighed, knowing that I had given Briar more information than I would have liked, leaving at a disadvantage as I knew little about her power. Alas, there was no other choice.

I merely shrugged as I turned to give her a bemused side glance as the serpent king's body began dispersing into countless light particles, finally solidifying in the shape of a fang roughly the size of my hand.

I took a knee on the ground, reaching ...

Chapter 38: The Second Level, Part3

"So, what are we going to do about that giant crawler in the oasis?" Briar asked, stretching lazily after finishing her breakfast. "It doesn't feel right to leave the damned thing be after it chased us away like that," she added with a frown on her face.

"We should leave it be," I answered, shaking my head. "We don't have the luxury of wasting our time on that talking snake, with the dungeon constantly changing," I ad...

"For all I know, humming Brook might still be alive," I remarked with a shrug of my shoulder, smiling. "He could be at the bottom of the ocean or stranded in the Florian Triangle, where the Rumbar pirates perished," I added as I alternated my gaze between Crocus and Byron.

"But he is most likely alive thanks to the Yumi-Yumi fruit," I concluded, pausing and waiting for Byron and Crocus to process my words.

Chapter 37: The Second Level, Part2

The giant serpent looked at us, its cold gaze alternating between Briar and myself, seemingly evaluating the situation.

"Sso be it," the oversized snake remarked with a hiss. "If you would not leave, then I only have one choice," it added, opening its maw and spitting a green liquid at us.

Briar and I immediately reacted, jumping to the right and left, respectively, to avoid the attack. "Oh, wow, big surpr...

"Now you see what I was talking about?" I asked with a smirk as I began walking towards the exit, still in a combat-ready state in case of any hidden traps, hidden bosses, or whatever.

Luckily, I didn't encounter any of these things and uneventfully reached the door, walking through only to stop once outside the chamber, sighing while shaking my head.

"What is it now?" Briar asked from behind as she m...

Chapter 35: The First Level, Part3

Several more hours had passed since our encounter with the mimic, and we've had many more of such experiences, albeit with different monsters such as more orcs, more lizard-men, and even some undead creatures.

These monsters proved to be reasonably easy to handle, and the undead had been even more so as I only had to brandish Bloodsport and activate dread aura to stun them in place while dealing killing them.

"Do you need something, captain?" Byron asked as he turned to his human form while landing in front of me. "No, but I think you need to hear this," I replied with a shrug as I turned to look at Crocus.

"What is the meaning of this, young man?" Crocus asked while giving Byron a once over, wondering what the blonde musician could want to hear from himself.

"You see, this guy's grandfather was a pirate from west blue, who disappeared several decades ago," I repl...

Chapter 34: The First Level, Part2

"An underground forest? Really?" I remarked with twitching eyes as I looked at the gigantic underground cave we found ourselves in after finally reaching the end of the tunnel.

"It looks like we'll need to forget everything we learned about the dungeon from the townspeople," I added while rubbing my forehead in frustration.

"And we need to finish exploring this damned dungeon as soon as possible too," ...

I watched her enter the dungeon and followed suit after a second, still smirking as I began scanning the surroundings. The dungeon entrance looked like a dark tunnel with colorful moss and strange, glowing mush...

As my companions went to work, I made my way back to the black pearl, and after greeting Doc Q and Bob with a light nod, and took a moment to finally get a good look at Laboon, who had already started bashing his head against the red line.

And let me tell you, no amount of preparations would make you ready to witness a giant whale bash its head against a similarly massive mountain range, causing the sea itself to tremble from the force of the impact.

It didn't take Briar and me long to get back into the town, and we immediately headed straight for the potion shop. "Ladies first," Briar remarked with a smirk as she walked past me, entering the store.
