Hunters Headquarters, I wish I was somewhere else Ville, Valiant

Alex sat on a hard chair, the metal of the seat digging into his back.

“I guess you don't have chairs in here for comfort huh...” He wiggled in his seat.

He was sitting in a large office. The room was very spartan in style despite it's size, with floors of concrete and walls of metal. He was sitting in the back of the room, watching as the other two occupants spoke....

Crime Scene, 224 Willow

Street, Souk District, Valiant

A man, clad in the distinct black uniform of a Hunter, made his way through a gathering crowd. People moved away for him as they spoke in hushed whispers, their eyes glued to the scene in front of them.

He stepped up to bright yellow tape and flashed his badge at the Hunter standing guard, his expression dark.

The man guarding the scene of the crime&nbs...

Alex Thought's

Things weren't supposed to be this way. At least no one had planned for things to be this way. A sequence of events took place in order for things to happen this way.

In the beginning, it was just curiosity, then it was science. They called it an advancement. A step forward. They talked about it like it was as simple as launching a rocket to the moon.

Genetic engineering.

At first, it seemed promising. The prospect of a “Super human...

Valiant Outpost

Hours after his brief fight against the succubus, Alex pulled his motorcycle up to an

outpost. It was a boxlike structure, small, made of concrete, with glass

windows a few inches thick. The desert winds whistled around the building,

carrying dust and sand. The two men inside looked surprised to see him as Alex

pulled up alongside it.

"Uh... name?" Said one. He had close cropped black hair, and wore the same

matte-gre...

One year later

The sound of a motorcycle driving at a casual pace echoed off the sands and stones of the desert. The vehicle and its rider coasted on a lone highway. The concrete was cracked, and pitted from long years of no maintenance, plants sprouting from it where the desert had reclaimed the land. The helmet-wearing driver weaved along the road, and drove towards a structure alongside the highway.

It had probably crashed there a decade ago. A jetliner, as large as building. ...

By the time Alice and Akinrinade had reached the small apartment complex that Edward called home, Akinrinade had already put two and two together.

His face was set in a stern frown that didn’t quite suit his usual cheerful demeanor.

Before he could storm into the room, Alice grabbed his arm, “Get a hold of yourself, man.”

Akinrinade stiffened for a minute and gave her a confused look.

She stares at her old friend for a moment letting him r...

"The accused will rise!" Edward coughed, and switched into a stage voice, directed at Shirou. "That's you, by the way."

"Figured." Shirou flexed his arms. The guards who had been holding him were thrown back, yelping in surprise. They reflexively reached for the guns at their waists. Shirou ignored them, simply standing to his full height.

"Well. Why have I been brought here?" Shirou eyed the sword in Edward's hand. "Does the&n...

Announcement

Due to financial difficulties, I will not have internet or power for an unforeseen amount of time. I'll do my best to change this, but for now I have put my updating on hold. I'm sorry about this, but I'll do my best to go to libraries and other places to continue my work as best as I can. Until then, I wish you all the best, from the bottom of my heart. In the mean time I'll be putting the same message on my other stories, my Patreon, and my websites. This way there won't be any conf...

Alice and Akirinade stepped out into the light. Shirou's home was just close enough to the edge of town that they could see an enormous wall in the distance. Tall and built from metal, plywood, and cracked concrete, the wall went on for miles, splitting the city in two.

“I hate that thing.” Alice said softly as she stared at it for a moment.

“At least it keeps the riff-raff out.” Akinrinade chuckled to himself, adjusting the large bag on his shoul...

Alice had never liked the south side of town. The

atmosphere always felt too tame. Something she wasn't used to. The roads were

all paved, the lawns were all manicured. The houses were well-maintained. It was

all very twilight zone to her.

She stared up at the house where Edward's so-called

“Wizard” took up residence. It was as nice as the other houses, with its green

grass, white porch, heavy oak doors and outdoor lights all turned on. The only

Alice

Two months later

Sitting on the steps in front of a half-destroyed old wreck, she sighed. She watched with blank eyes as a street vendor passed a hunk of charred meat to a young boy with grubby hands and torn clothes. The street vendor smiled just a bit at the grateful look on the child’s face. The vendor grimaced suddenly, scratching at the scales on his neck with a growl.

The child looked fascinated at the reptilian vendors scales briefly, befor...

The city was dead. It had been that way for only a decade at

most. But anyone walking through would have sworn the city had been that way.

The ruined skyscrapers, burned out shells of cars, and streets soaked in the

smell of dried blood, similar to rusted steel.

The denizens of the city were rats. Not in form, not in

shape, but in the way they lived their lives. Human, Orc, or Fae, they fought

for scraps, scratched out a living amongst dust and ruin beneath sk...
