Doll faces

Playing around with the faces is always fun and wanted to take a second to show the small subtle differences between the regular faces and the doll faces. I try to make the doll face have larger eyes and the position of the mouth grows a bit wider. Also I’ve recently started trying to use an effect to erase the pupils which I think gives the dolls a more open and vacant look.

Which do you all like better, and why?

So this is an example of where things can look great pre-process and i think i have all the animation fixed, but when it gets compiled it just... fails. The motions too choppy, too fast. In this case i didnt account for the speed of the toy (seen here as dawn marches) resetting back to the neutral body position and so the weight of the model looks just off as it marches.

Test angles

I mentioned it taking multiple attempts at getting the angle right on the animation. Here are some of the ones I tried to start with. I originally was going to have the animation simply take part entirely zoomed out. But so much of the detail was lost that I didn’t like it.

The second 180 frames of the animation.

So, here's a secret. this is where it pays to work smarter, not harder. because i realized that if i wanted to have another loop of animations i didnt need to completely re-render all 180 frames. just the first 60 frames where the camera zoomed in. Creating a second camera and placing it exactly in the same space as the first camera allowed me to capture the 60 new frames and save a lot of rendering time.

So. Normally I do not like AI material. However I wanted something to be playing in this clip and nothing I could find really fit with what I wanted. But a little playing around with sova and I had a good chorus for what I wanted for her mental state to be.

Neon Drone Walk

There is something alluring about a drone, faceless and synthetic, walking through the dirty cyberpunk city streets, it's skin illuminated by the neon lights. Does it comprehend the beauty of the lights? Is it aware of the contrast between the lights above and the grime below? Or does it simply carry out it's programed actions, unaware of anything but it's immediate surrounding.
