Hulk Background WIP

Once again I'm incorporating some art nouveau elements to the background, and recently I've been loving dark moothy colors.

Coloring green skin

One thing I learned coloring Hulk is to aim for a vibrant, rich color, unlike the movies, the comic book version is very saturated and completely unnatural, to try for a natural look on this skin will end up looking dead, rotten like a zombie, so instead of using real skin with green filters for reference, I use pictures of green peppers... cause they're green and  alive I guess 😜

Hulk Commission WIP

This is one of my favorite commissions of all time, a very unexpected challenge that brought a lot of learning about, proportions, coloring, values and lighting, first of all: Hulk is not build as a normal human, and all the different renditions of him have their own set of rules, I focused more on the comics version and try real hard to break away from my own perception of a perfect physique.

Creating the Sugar Skull Charro

A few people have asked about the meaning behind the tattoos of this character, here's a diagram explaining them, also I wanted to share some of my reference pics, I think Pedro Infante was one of my earliest unconscious crushes, my grandma loved his movies and as I grow older I totally get it, if you're ever curious about vintage Mexican cinema, try to watch "Escuela de Vagabundos (1956)" here's a YouTube link but is only in Spanish, if I ever find one with subtitles I'll post it too

Actually this was the original version, but it was rejected and after a few changes we got to the final one with the blue background... I don't think I've ever published this before.

The final version was mirrored, but this was the original intention, as you can see, it was a very soft approach, and all the focus goes to the face and head piece.

Ash Sketch

This was a tough one; even with references, I had to redraw the arm like 4 times. The chainsaw was a whole process, in the sketch you can see I didn't even bother trying, once I got the body right, and the face looked good I move on to illustrator.
