The heightening

Or as I call it, making the highlights super high... Close to the end, I like to add that extra shine, it's what makes the skin look healthy & reflective.

Coloring the Body (anatomy)

When dividing the body, I try to follow the anatomically correct "cut lines" so it looks organic AND saves a lot of time when blending the pieces together.

Coloring Process 2 (the body)

In the first sketch I've separated the highlights from the darkest shadows, in my mind I already know how I want this to look, the problem is getting there. Sometimes is overwhelming and a little confusing to deal with the whole body, so I divide it is smaller pieces that are easier to understand.

I always start with the face, is the most difficult part, specially if is a portrait, before this I've already done a pencil version, where I've made A LOT of mistakes, so for the digital process I have a better understanding of the "geography" of the face...

Portrait Stages

For every single illustration there's always a sketch, sometimes it's a bad one, but it's the first analysis I make of the subject, lighting and composition, then I scan it and fix proportion, anatomy and clean the lines (inking). Finally I take it to Photoshop for the coloring process, so yeah, it takes a long time to make this pieces. I hope you like it  ❤
