VOLUME 6: CHAPTER 10

VOLUME 6: CHAPTER 10

After his victory in the war against the Empire, Arzen was given full authority over the City of Daxton. Count Boris was too old and decided to pass all administrative responsibilities to his eldest son. Unsurprisingly, this was met with little to no resistance from the government officials and the general public. Arzen was the hero who freed the City of Yan from the clutches of the Empire, after all. He was the pride of Boris Cou...

VOLUME 6: CHAPTER 9

After realizing Lark’s real identity, all malice and hatred within the Scylla vanished entirely. It did not even dare look at the human in the eye anymore and simply subserviently bowed all of its heads.

After a few minutes of silence, Lark realized that the seven-headed monster wouldn’t move nor speak unless he stated otherwise. For a moment, it felt as though he was dealing with another Anandra.

“Liz...

VOLUME 6: CHAPTER 8

The Scylla continued its rampage outside the treasure room. Lark started to feel the links binding him to the elven oaks vanish one after another. Judging by the powerful explosions and the rumbling of the ground, the Scylla had started using magic to destroy the colossal ancient trees surrounding the giant statue. The seven-headed monster had become desperate after Lark managed to slip inside the treasure room.

“Human, come out!” the...

It was preposterous.

The Scylla started casting another Grand Scale Magic at him, and just like before, the magic formation was activated in just a couple of seconds. Lark knew that he had to find a way to prevent all seven heads from working together, otherwise, they’d just keep firing spells at him one after another.

The magic formation above Lark glowed and slowly spun, eventually forming a portal-like ...

After inspecting the murals on the first floor of the labyrinth, Lark immediately descended on the second floor.

The entire floor was your typical cavern, with glowing algae covering portions of the walls. Numerous poison wisps wandered the floor aimlessly. Those who tried latching onto Lark were immediately repelled by the small, translucent mana barrier he covered himself with.

Lark stabbed the poison wisp...

Tier 1 Adjustment

Hi,

I've held back this adjustment for a few months now, but starting book 6, I would be implementing what was written in the tier descriptions. I've been hesitating to do this for quite some time since a lot of the avid patrons (especially those who frequently made comments in each chapter) belong to the tier 1 of this patreon page.

Tier 1 (small village) benefits will be now limited to 5 advance chapters (when compared to what is currently available on Amazon).

As fo...

After leaving the Boris County, Lark kept heading southwest, eventually arriving at a vast, dead plain. Everything had been covered by snow by now. But had Lark arrived here before winter, he would have been met with a barren ground filled with cracks, with no single plant in sight.

Despite the snow covering the ground, green smoke still wafted in the air. Using his foot, Lark cleared the snow on the ground below him, e...

For several weeks, Lark relentlessly made his way toward the Forbidden Region. The snow had grown thick by then. Everything – the trees and the ground – were blanketed white.

He occasionally passed by a small town or a village. Unfortunately, unlike Golden Wheat City, it seemed that this region been hit by the black famine this year and didn’t recover. All of the villages he passed through along the way were in a ...

After parting with his disciples, Lark immediately went to the breeder and bought the fastest and strongest horse available. Although it cost him a hefty sum of money, investing in a good mount was a must for this expedition.

He also bought a woolen coat, several days’ worth of rations, and a large water flask.

“Four gold, five silvers,” said the merchant in front of him.

The orb of light illuminated the various treasures stored in the Royal Sanctum. Swords, staffs, armors, shields, and various accessories and jewelries which screamed of the words ‘extremely expensive’ filled the entire room. For generations, this place held all of the most prized possessions of the previous royals.

Looking around, Lark saw several items worth of interest. His eyes lingered on the sword with black blade hanging on the ...

“Sword of Morpheus?” said Lark.

King Alvis had met Lark several times before, but this was the first time he saw the young man become visibly flustered. Even when the demon appeared and spoke to them, he remained calm, as though it was an everyday occurrence.

“That’s right,” said Lady Ropianna. “Sword of Morpheus. Ah, I think I still have that thing with me. Let’s see.”

“Did something good happen? You look quite happy, Elder.”

The Elder – a demon whose body resembled a withered tree, was gently smiling, his eyes closed. A small broken horn protruded out of his forehead and a pair of almost inconspicuous, tattered white wings sprouted out of his back.

The Elder opened his eyes, revealing a pair of golden eyes reminiscent of snakes.

“Ah,” said the Elder. “Jus...

It felt as though the Goddess of Luck smiled upon them today.

Author’s note: 3 Days after surgery and I could already see clearly. I guess everything went better than expected? What a relief.

The first few hours were horrible. Everything beyond three meters was a blur. My eyes are still a bit swollen (haha), but it’s a lot better than the first day. I’ll post another chapter 24 hours from now to make up with the lost time.

Eye Surgery - 1-2 weeks break

Hello. I'm writing this through my phone. I'll be undergoing eye surgery today. I won't go into details on what happened, but I might need to stop looking at the computer screen for a week or two after this.

The operation is nothing too serious. They'll use crosslinking so it should be safe. I just don't want the corneal flap to open while I recover, just to be sure.

Sorry about this.

“Another person,” repeated King Alvis. The words of Lady Ropianna echoed in his mind.

He rubbed his brows as his head started to ache. So many events transpired the moment he woke up, taking its toll on his mind.

Who was it? Who was the man behind Lord Hais? The real culprit pulling the strings.

While the King was in deep thoughts, Elias, one of the three royal court magicians present in the...

Five days had passed. The monsters attacking the city had retreated to the lake. At the same time, the phylactery had been completed.

Contrary to the mithril cubes, the phylactery had a simple design, with runes engraved only in its interior. If not for its silver-black sheen which screamed of the word ‘mithril’, people would have mistaken it for an ordinary jar.

The amount of treasure covering the floor would probably be enough to sustain the Kingdom for more than a century. Furthermore, they could see several magic items half-buried in the mountain of gold. Judging by Evander’s reputation, each of those were probably items heard of only in the legends.
