Dear Patrons,
September's update will be delayed slightly since work has been particularly hectic lately AND I will be attending an out-of-town wedding this weekend. I'm hoping to finish and post the next chapter of The Lycanthrope Club: An American Werewolf in Japan on October 1st or 3rd.
I still plan on posting at least one more update in October so if everything goes as expected (and I plan on getting an early start to make up for lost time) you can expect another chapt...

The supermarket clerk stared at the rows of polystyrene trays stacked along the checkout counter. Most of them contained fish, though there were a few boneless chicken cuts and ready-made meals here and there. It was an unusual purchase, particularly since the customer was a lone high school girl, but the clerk, professional as ever, made no comment and began scanning the items.
Junko winced as the price climbed higher and higher. She'd been careful to pick the cheapest meats on offer but the ...

Junko hurried down the empty school corridor. Her rapid footsteps echoed loudly throughout the long hallway. She turned a corner and nearly collided with a male student who had been lingering on the other side, staring down at his phone. She didn't stop but instead whirled around and, jogging backwards, issued a frantic apology to the bemused student before turning and continuing down the hall. There were a few other students ahead of her. All turned and gave Junko curious or disapproving looks ...

Junko opened her eyes. She gasped, lifted her head and looked around. She found herself sprawled out on the sidewalk adjoining the narrow street they had been walking along. She turned and spotted Masae and Taro lying on the pavement a few meters away. Though her body felt as though it was made of lead Junko crawled over to them, arms and legs trembling as she moved. Upon reaching Masae she carefully tilted the senior student's head upwards. Masae's long black hair parted to reveal her face. Her...

Author’s Note: This story is set in modern day Japan. While I have attempted to accurately portray the country and its people I have never visited Japan nor have I formally studied Japanese culture, history, sociology or language beyond reading a select few titles - The Making of Modern Japan by Marius B. Jansen, The Book of the Yokai by Michael Dylan Foster, The World of the Shining Prince by Ivan Morris and a few others. The rest of my knowledge of Japan stems from...

Clementine stirred, lips parting then shutting. She shifted her body, feeling the warm, leathery surface of the seat press against her shoulders. Her eyes twitched but did not open.
A strange sense of unease crept over her. She could not explain why, but something was seriously wrong. She had...forgotten something. Something important. Yet try as she might she couldn't remember what it was. Uncertain memories of being in a forest flickered in her mind but she dismissed them. She wa...
