Surprise! This is another story I want to tell, and will be my first step into 'GameLit' but not quiet. It is inspired by Fallout amongst other games, and I haven't really settled on a name for it yet. This is just the prologue. If you have any ideas for the name let me know. I have the first 8 or so chapters outlined and an endgame in mind already. I don't think I will start posting this one until TCD has finished Arc 1 however.

Not 'The Caring Dungeon'. Felt like writing this today, and I figured I'd post in here before putting it up on Tuesday. Should be banging out the next chapter of TCD on Sunday or Monday. Speaking of which the story is sitting ~68K words right now and about 70% of the way through the first Arc/book.
The first step always has to come first. It was a mantra that was very obvious and stupid, but had helped Seth through many situations in his pitiful life. Today the first step w...

It's the day before this week's post (Chap 36) but technically this is still a chapter ahead of schedule. I am not very good at combat scenes, sorry. Hope this one is better than the last one though, which I was told was the most anticlimatic battle on the site ;)
Gladil
Gladil had never really been one for face to face combat. Even back when he was in the Corps he was a long range sensor and archer who stayed back and peppered the enemy from a distance. ...

Going to take a break on revisions for the time being and try to get a chapter or three ahead of the RR story. Enjoy.
(still gladil)
When Gladil was a younger elf, shortly after joining the army, he tried his first drink. It’s not that the elves didn’t have their own alcohol in the forest, but it was reserved for festivals and he’d left home almost the day he came of age to join the military. That being said, the day he had his first drink was a day he wish h...

I know, I know. You two are already tired of seeing the RETCON chapters and that's not why you're here. No worries! this should be the last one posted for a while and I can use my time/effort writing new chapters again. I've been putting this off too long and after a recent influx of .5-2 star reviews, the only reason I could think of was the first 4 chapters. As such I am redoing them. Sorry for the delay.
Manning
I slowly regained consciousness an indeterminate amo...

Changes in this chapter were a little more drastic, changed the entire PoV to Cara's for the introduction of Brick, revealed her 'end game' goals, and shifted things around. As such I'm going to post the whole chapter here.
Cara
Something was wrong. Cara had retreated into herself to mourn the fact that she wouldn’t have a companion. She couldn’t know for a fact, but she was pretty sure that dungeons only ever bonded a single companion, and Manning’s had sho...

First half of the next chapter.
Gladil
“Well, that’s not ominous at all.” The ranger cast a look over his shoulder, both hoping to and hoping not to spot the source of the voice he’d just heard. Unsurprisingly, Gladil saw nobody and nothing capable of speaking to him in the clearing behind him. Even the hedgehog had departed from the tree and was nowhere to be seen.
Whereas most people would not know what to make of this, it did not take ...

Okay, continued the retcon a bit today. Along with making Cara's interactions a little less.. bitchy? and generally improving grammar and what not, here are the "major" changes I made. Once again if you don't read the changes it won't be story breaking.
TL;DR is that I changed the way bonding works to reflect the death of the interfaces and blue menus and changed around some character interactions a bit to better reflect their personalities. New chapters are going to be relea...

Doing a culling of the first few chapters where I had system errors and blue screens. I decided a while ago that wasn't the direction that I wanted to go so I'm cleaning it up. Probably should have done it a while ago, but I really wasn't feeling it. For now I have retcon'd/culled chapter one, but the gist is really the same. If you don't want to read it, it will not be story breaking.

The forest had changed entirely since last Gladil had been there. Already he could feel a nagging sensation in the back of his head trying to confine him to the beaten path, unlike last time when he and Echil had just run through the brush to the center of the forest. After he spared a quick glance into the tree line and saw the excessive scrub and movement, he figured it was probably for the best anyways.
When he’d first made his report to the ranger’s guild about what he found here...

Gladil
Drow. Although hate for the elf’s darker skinned cousins had been ingrained into Gladil from a young age, he found himself able to act civilly towards the two he’d run into in Annahmia. He knew, from years of listening to his parents and elders as well as extensive lessons as a child, that the drow were a dark aberration of his people, and therefore could not be trusted.
At least, that is what the little voi...
