[Blog] Mid-Month Update

We're almost halfway through the Daily Female Link Challenge, which has been a deceptively large amount of work. Every piece has felt substantially more interesting when compared to my usual work, whether it's in line, texture, colour, or narrative. 

This quality & quantity of work could not be possible if I was taking commissions. Working on this project has reminded me of how much I really wanted to make a Zelda comic, as unprofitable as all this work is.

October Plans - 31 Days of Female Link

As previously mentioned, I plan to create 31 Female Link Illustrations in October.

The contents of this challenge will most likely be uploaded within a Collection Post. I hope to challenge myself, creating proper artworks instead of lazy sketches. In order to focus on this project, I will be sacrificing work, thus earning less money.

[Concept] Female Link

I'm re-evaluating what exactly it is that I want to do with The Legend of Zelda as a concept, and a good place to start is with the design of its hero. It's not too different from the classic look or anything I've done before (as I've spent years refining it), but it's good to tweak it a bit. 

I expect I'll continue to develop these concepts in the future. I'd ordinarily say a lot more than this, but I am tired, so I'll save it for another time, Macleod.

Link vs. Geldman

It's not often that I get to draw some classic Legend of Zelda stuff. The Geldman were exclusive to the Link to the Past series of games - they're kinda like living Sand or something along those lines? My brush settings were off while working on this and I didn't realize until later, so the texture is a bit harsher than usual.

Regarding the Voting Polls & Character Suggestions trial run for this month: I noticed the suggestion thread was not as active as in the past, to the point where we only have enough for 1 poll, without much in the way of choice as to which options we can include.

I'm really enjoying the latest version update for Genshin Impact. I find the level design really interesting because it's more condensed than previous regions, and the characters all seem really interesting. Looking forward to the unfolding story.

Anyway, Candace is releasing in the next version update, and I think she's cute.

[Concept] Beaumont Designs & Concepts

If you've kept an eye on my work this month, you would have noticed a number of pieces featuring a younger Elayne (accompanied with a bit of lore on social media), so I've continued with that direction for this month's concept art.

I've also given some thought to Elayne's skimpy attire since I've never been able to confidently justify why she'd wear such an impractical & sexy outfit, especially given her reserved & efficient personality. So, I've come up with a few reasons that ...

My apologies for the general inactivity this week. While I know I was under no obligation to be super active, especially after telling you that my performance was going to be impacted this month, I've drawn less than I could, especially as my health had somewhat improved.

Perhaps it is a needless worry, as I have almost 30 unique artworks in the Dropbox Archive, which means I've technically provided over 1 Artwork per day of the month so far...

[Concept] Vampire Killer Beaumont #2 - Early Animations

I haven't done much game development over the last month or so.

It's been difficult to dedicate time to it, especially since it can sometimes take so long to do things. The creative flow has been interrupted because I took too long a break from it, and I struggle to easily get back into it since there's so many other things I need to also be doing. Still, I wanted to get a bit of work done, so I was giving some time to art assets.

[Blog] Quick Update

Earlier this month, I opened off-stream commissions during a limited time - just to test it out. I raised the minimum price to $200, so I was earning approx. 60% more.

I didn't necessarily get more offers than I might've during a stream, but I did ultimately have to take less because of the price. I could probably take a few more, but I'd like to focus on some other work right now. That said, I should probably do this more often.
