I like Hex Maniac, but I've only drawn her a few times - and most of them weren't pieces I much liked. I can only recall one piece I actually liked from one of the sketchie books.

Fun fact, I had actually planned to draw her more accurate to the source material - small chest and all. Alas.

With Dropbox, there's a dedicated gallery space for virtually everything I draw in the month. It's a much easier way to see it all at once than through the typical social media dashboard.

pizza hut witch sketch

Here's a roughly-tossed-together sketch of what's probably really silly. Composition could probably be adjusted a bit, but this is good enough for you to at least get the basic idea.

End of May Progress Update

Time for the monthly review.

We are almost halfway through the year, and I feel like the changes made in January have been pretty well received. The Patron Sketch Suggestions have been a good source of ideas, and I think you like them. I haven't done EVERY suggestion, but we knew that would be the case. Always a shame though, as I always miss out on some really cool ideas.

A fairly quick sketch. I spent a lot of the weekend trying to rank up in Destiny 2's Iron Banner, but I don't think I'll be getting to the rank I want to by tomorrow. So I should take a break and just get back to art.

bondage sketch

Just a pretty loose sketch I did recently. Save a minor issue, the grasp of perspective seems pretty neat. I really enjoy this loose, stress-less sketching I've been doing as of recently.

casual brellomascot

I haven't drawn a good brellomascot in a while, but I'm pretty content with this.

I recently started my 10th sketchbook file, and I've been keeping my hand pretty loose and gestural, much slower than my usual brush strokes. It's very comfortable. Though I must admit, I do have some concern that it's not ideal for finished work - but I don't want to stop either. So something I have to think about.

Just a fairly quick sketch.

I really should do more analytical studies to brush up on what I'm not good at, but I find it difficult to start. Even with a reference on my second monitor, it doesn't seem ideal for study because I still have to look away to draw, but on the same monitor, I'm losing screen real estate! Tough...

Studies also take quite a bit of time... I have to find a way to make it work.

Panoply of Calatia

I've talked about it before, but I'm a fan of the ZeldaClassic fan-quest Panoply of Calatia, which acts as a Zelda 3, taking place after the events of the first two games. It's very old-school in it's art and gameplay style, but adds a few modern amenities to feel like less archaic. There was an update made last October, just after I stopped playing, so I should consider going back and restarting.

Did some more progress on the last update, but with an underwear variant; because you can't have a finished illustration without one.

The shading's fairly soft, which I think is pretty dangerous territory - it can come off looking formless if you're too general. That butt has a really good form though.

link & zelda sketch

This seems like a much better portrayal of Link and Zelda than this sketch from last year. Something to consider finishing up.

I feel awkward about taking longer to work on finished illustrations, even if it's necessarily what I want to do. It feeds into my discomfort of not having anything substantial to show. As opposed quick, instant gratification sketches, that is.

Vampire Hunter temperatures

Just more vampire hunter sketch. Giving her a little jacket helps make her feel a little bit more badass, with a collar that's probably too similar to the collar that the Vampire currently has. I was originally going for blue, but the colour scheme reminded me enough of the vampire that I was considering going for something more red/orange. Guess I'm ultimately undecided.

Just a quick sketch of the vampire hunter. I might try to give her an element of fancy-ness to her attire too, so it's more than just "here's a single layer of... whatevers." I dunno!

Playing PSO2 has taken me out of the flow of creating and I need to get back into it.

vampire queen concept 01

Some prospective ideas for the Vampire Queen. I traded in the wings for a cape, though I'm not sure if the wings are permanently gone (I just think both wings and a cape simultaneously might look odd). I didn't want her to be perpetually nude though, especially when the rest of her design lacks any interesting features. I'm still not really sure about the hair.

Her legs might need something on them too, but I'm not entirely certain.

This turned out alright enough.

I had a bit of difficulty with the Vampire Hunter's breasts, since I was going for a really exaggerated look, they're held upward instead of adhering to gravity. Don't imagine I'm going to do that unless I'm doing something more stylized. Or at least make them smaller.

The Hunter's boots aren't perfect, but I like the pattern the leg wear creates. The Vampire's design really needs some work though... I might actually give her clothes, and I'm not fond of h...

Amazing Mirror - Comic

This Piece:
I have sinned and drawn orange-haired Link.

Based on a Patron Suggestion. In LTTP, when Link first enters the Dark World without the Moon Pearl, he transforms into a pink Bunny. This is a take on that but with a playboy bunny-type thing.

It's all squeezed into 4 panels, so it was a bit tough to convey. Tumblr's going to completely ruin this image. Originally, there wasn't any contrast between the camera shots, but I completely redid panel 2. That helped. P...

Just a first sketch of a villain to go with the Vampire Hunter babe. Definitely really early design - there's a lot of work that needs to be done. But I think I'm into the red hair and blue skin for this.

Amazing Mirror - Comic Inks

Based on a Patron Suggestion, though perhaps the intention of the suggestion was a bit more literal... It's a Bunny Link after being transported into the Dark World - though squeezed within 4 panels and a playboy bunny and not an actual bunny. Yeah.

Bit of a rough sketch, but something I spent too much time on all the same. Some more of that skimpy vampire hunter lady.

I think the legs are weaker parts of the piece (they're flat) and the design (might be too much uninterrupted skin). I don't think the colours are anything to write home about either.

Just some sketches of a potential Vampire Hunter character, totally channeling Castlevania through it, so I fully expect a whip to appear at some point for sure.

End of April Progress Update

Time for my monthly assessment.
