September Update

Hi everyone!

I was able to get 2 more parts out last month like I wanted, so LET'S GOOOO!!! As I have stated previously, part 7 is going to be the worst one yet. There is an entire fight sequence that requires a lot of mental calculation and drawings, so I'm not sure how long it's going to take me.

We have our house zoning meeting on Wednesday and will find out if our variance passes so we can start construction this month. Wish us luck because I really don't want things to be delayed again 🙏 I'll keep you all updated on the status of things and how my work schedule is affected.

I have several orders for With Love to pack today, so that project is pretty much done. I have a client deadline that I have to work on all week into next Tuesday and then I'm free from that. I will start on part 7 in a day or two once I get a majority of other things taken care of.

Here's my working list again:

Patreon Changes - iOS

I'm back from my vacation and am ready to start part 6 of arc 9!

Here's a quick update about some changes around here:

Patreon released an update last week about forcing all accounts to switch over to a regular subscription billing model, which I have chosen to do now instead of later. This means any new members will be charged the day they sign up, and then that same day each month going forward (instead of the first of the month). 👉 This does not change anything for current paying members, but if you happen to cancel and come back later, that's what you should expect.

The second part of the update states that Apple is making Patreon use their in-app purchase system for new members starting in November, which will take out an additional 30% from my earnings for anyone who joins using the iOS app. I can choose to increase the tier prices for just iOS users, but that's pretty unfair, so I've decided to keep pricing the same for everyone and eat the 30% from my earnings. 👉 There is no win-win situation here, so I implore everyone to subscribe through a browser or Android app and avoid Apple.

I believe you can still use the Apple app after subbing through a different means. This also only applies to new members starting in November - if you are a current member and had subbed through the iOS app, Patreon states you will not be subject to this 30% fee (unless you cancel and rejoin through iOS from November onwards).

Still have to add hair animation for one shot of CB, blinks, all of the effects (like CB's cataclysm and smoke in the bg for the Eiffel Tower, RIP) but I was dealing with some burn out and I don't want to look at this part anymore so here ya go!

August Update

Phew, I was able to get part 4 in just before July ended 😅 And here we are, already in August.

Great news - we received a date for our house renovation zoning hearing (September 4th) so if all goes well, we should hopefully be able to start construction in September! That gives me most of August to get as much done as I can on this arc. Once construction starts, I'll still be working, I'm just not sure how much I'll be able to actually do during that time.

There are 5 parts left for this arc, and at the pace I'm going it looks like I can maybe get two more parts out in August. Part 7 will be HEAVILY animated, so I have no idea how long that one is going to take (especially with construction around that time). I will keep you all posted!

Of Love & Lore is officially over, so that's one thing off of my plate. With Love will have its leftover sale start on August 10th, so shipping stuff out will take up some of my time this month. Kacchako's Kitchen is in production, so it's a slow period for me right now. I do have a trip mid-August that will take up some of my working time, but other than that this month is pretty open for me. I'll do my best to get as much done on the arc as possible!

Also, I have to cancel this week's stream - I won't be around tonight and I need a little bit of a break anyway. I'll be streaming again next week.

I'm freaking out that it took me almost a full month to finish it, but I have to remind myself that I took 1-2 weeks on audio and backgrounds for the whole arc (plus a big deadline and trips in between), so I'm hoping the next part won't take me as much time 🙏

Man, that hair animation is going to kill me, but once I add the wind SFX it'll really tie everything together.

July Update

Hello, hello everyone, I'm back with another update! These months just keep flying by 😣

Last month I was able to get parts 1 and 2 of arc 9 completed (yay!! 🎉) and I've been working on getting all of the blender backgrounds rendered and files set up for the rest of the arc, which should be done this week. There are a few backgrounds that I will have to hand draw, but I'll save those for whenever I can squeeze them in during production.

I already started sketching out part 3 since I needed to get a color look down (you can see it in my last stream). The amount of work for adding wind-related animation is crazy, so I REALLY don't know how much time this is going to take me 😭

I've also decided to change how I'm going to approach the rest of the work. Instead of sketching and lining the whole arc before finishing each part individually, I will be treating each part the same way I always have. My list has been updated as follows:

• ✅ Time everything out into a rough animatic

• ✅ Send animatic to VAs and order voice work

• ✅ Build the blimp and city background in Blender

Again, these parts will not be coming out on a weekly basis like in the past - they are too long and too much extra work has to go into them. As always, I'll be hosting Thursday night streams on Youtube at 8pm ET (unless I have to move it due to scheduling conflicts).

As far as my other work is concerned, I have a client deadline coming up next week (on my birthday noooooooooo 😭) as well as a few events in July and August that will take up some of my time. My zine work is almost done, L&L will be wrapping up completely around mid-July, the KK cookbook is laid out and being edited, and With Love will be opening LOs soon-ish. Come September, I'm HOPING the house renovations actually start, but that means my work will probably be pushed back more. I'll keep you all in the loop, but for now I'm just going to work on as much of this arc as I can!

Very short, but VERY important part for this whole arc to work 😅

Now that we're past the first 2 parts, the rest of the arc will take place on the blimp.

👉 From here on out, I cannot promise one update per week. 👈 There are 7 parts left, and they're all quite lengthy since it was hard to figure out where to cut them up. There will also be a lot more animation required for the rest of this arc, so that's why it's going to take longer than previous ones.

The next step is to render out all of the backgrounds and set up my working files (since I finally got the blender file where I want it). It's crucial that I make sure the cameras are set up in the correct spots for the action to visually make sense. At least my storyboards are clear enough that I can skip most of the sketching phase (yay!!).

Get ready, this is going to be a wild ride 💨
